Man Shot And Killed By Police Inside VA Hospital Emergency Room
A man who claimed he had a bomb and a knife inside the Bay Pines VA Hospital in St. Petersburg lunged at a VA officer with his knife in hand.
As a result of the incident, the man was shot and taken into the ER for treatment. Officials said despite their efforts to save him, the veteran died as a result of the shooting.
In the meantime, the hospital was evacuated and several bomb squads were called to the premises to search for any possible explosives. Authorities said they did find a device made of PVC piping inside a backpack, but it only appeared to be a bomb, and was not in fact an explosive device.
The FBI is investigating.
