Sheriff Joe Punishes Non Patriotic Inmates
Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio is in the news again for concocting another creative form of punishment for inmates under his jurisdiction: A diet consisting only of bread and water. This special form of discipline is exclusively for a group of non patriotic inmates who dared to deface American Flags placed in their cells.
“These inmates have destroyed the American flag that was placed in their cells,” Arpaio said. “Tearing them, writing on them, stepping on them, throwing them in the toilet, trash or wherever they feel. It’s a disgrace … this is government property that they are destroying, and we will take action against those who act this way.”
Before anyone thinks that Sheriff Joe is doing this just to be mean, aides want the public to know that it’s his love of country and nothing else driving this dietary directive. In fact, Arpaio’s passion for America even compels him to blast the “Star Spangled Banner” on loudspeakers every morning and “God Bless America” each night to his patriotism-challenged inmates.
“Sheriff Arpaio is a Korean War veteran and a big patriot,” said Chrisopher Hegstrom, a spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office.
