Rodney Black said two man were trespassing and breaking into his shed in Barboursville, WV.  He shot and killed them without warning.

However, the new shed and the property it sat on belonged to Garrick Hopkins, who was showing his brother Carl Hopkins Jr. his new purchase when they were shot by Black, reports The Herald-Dispatch.

“Garrick Hopkins took his brother to his newly purchased lot to show him the property where he and his family were to build a new residence in the coming weeks,” the Cabell County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement. “The outbuilding in question was on the Hopkins property and contained no belongings of the suspect Rodney Black.”

According to sheriff’s deputies, Black admitted to shooting the two men and was charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
