Arizona is already in the news for it’s pro-discrimination legislation.  Now, State Senator Al Melvin offers this gem explaining his opposition to national education standards (also known as the Common Core):

…he said the program uses “fuzzy math,” substituting letters for numbers in some examples.

Hemant Mehta says it better than I could:

… so Melvin’s problem with Common Core is that it expects students to know algebra.

Maybe he got confused. He probably opposes Al-Qaeda and thinks Al Jazeera is evil and figures algebra is another Islamic conspiracy.
