The shots were fired near the zoo’s entrance.

The two people who were shot were injured in the arm and hand, police said. Both have non-life threatening injuries.

There was heavy police presence at the National Zoo after unconfirmed reports of shots fired, WUSA9’s Bruce Johnson reports.

Police say around 5:17 p.m., a male was shot in the 3000 block of Connecticut Avenue, N.W.

Officials are looking for two black males, one of them is wearing a black shirt and another is wearing a purple shirt. Police say they do not know the motive of the shootings.
