Gays are sinners and the media is to blame for his troubles. That was Phil Robertson’s Easter Sunday message.

In the fiery speech, Robertson defended his controversial comments on homosexuality and blasted the media coverage that followed as “absurd” and of “blurring” the lines between “sinners” and homosexuals…

“They were mad at me,” he tells the congregation in the video. “You say, ‘Why’d they get mad at you?’ ’Cause instead of acknowledging their sin, like you had better do, they railed against me for giving them the truth about their sins. Don’t deceive yourselves.”

Robertson raises his voice as he paraphrases the Corinthians verse of Biblical “sinners.”

“Neither the sexually immoral, nor the idolators, nor adulterers, nor male prostitutes, nor homosexual offenders, nor thieves, nor greedy, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God,” exclaimed Robertson, to a wildly applauding audience.

Freedom of speech is in abundance here as it should be so why is it such an issue when this guy Phil exercises his right to do the same? On a side note I think Alan did a fine job on O’Reilly last night speaking about the VA.

Sure he has his first amendment right.

The rest of us also have the first amendment right to point out that America is not governed by some Christian version Sharia law.

We are governed by the United States Constitution which as far as I can tell makes no mention of Corinithians or any other religious document. It may be Mr. Robertson’s religious belief that homosexuality is a “sin”.

It is not mine, nor is it the belief of several other spiritual traditions. At the risk of trivializing the matter, debating whether or not homosexuality is a “sin” is like debating who would win a prizefight between Muhammad Ali and Joe Louis. It all comes down to your personal opinions.

I happen to think that killing animals for recreational purposes is a “sin”. You don’t see me arguing that people who like to hunt wolves should be barred from getting married.

If Mr. Robertson wants to live his life according to his belief in the God of Abraham,he has every right to do so. He has no right to impose that belief on the rest of us, where government punishes behavior that he considers to be a “sin” by denying equal treatment under the law.

In modern United States same sex marriage and the legal rights of homosexuals is a hot topic of debate. Yet long before Europeans set foot on Kentucky soil, Native American tribes established their own beliefs concerning homosexual behaviors. Traditional European beliefs define a person’s sexual identity male or female based on biological determination. Abrahamic religions; Islam, Christianity and Judaism; teach God made man and women. Man and woman each have their own roles to fulfill. Plato, in his Symposium, suggested the gods created three genders; male, female and half-male-half female “androgynous”. Mankind attacked the gods. As punishment, the gods split the genders in half. The androgynous halves became heterosexuals. Male and female halves became gays and lesbians. Like Platos’ explanation of differentiating romantic interests, Native Americans also believe the Creator created three different genders; males, females and two-spirits. A person of two spirits consisted of male and female genders. Gender roles and gender identity mirrored one another, each containing their own magical attributes.

I read and appreciate the information provided. One thing though; how did he impose his beliefs on anyone? I think if anyone found it offensive they would get up and leave or not read the article. Personally I don’t think much of what he said. My cousin is gay; so what? He is free to be what or who he is and it should be that way for anyone.

To clarify, it is when beliefs like Mr. Robertson’s are crafted into laws that govern us all, that is the imposition I was referrng to.

He has a right to say what he wants. We have a right to make fun of him.

Nobama, can I ask you an off-topic question? Obviously you don’t care for Obama but you seem like an intelligent person and I do enjoy a good debate. What are your thoughts on OAS and their plans to overthrow the government? I’ve been following their posts (far too closely than I care to admit). It seems they originally believed Obama would run for the hills at the sight of them, ala Morsi. Since that hasn’t worked out, I’m seeing more calls for violence, using their interpretation of the 2A in that (they believe) it authorizes violent overthrow of (Obama’s) tyrannical government. Your thoughts? (and if you’ve posted these elsewhere on LL, my apologies. Just direct me).

I do not hate him. I think he had good intentions but lacked a real plan. I had high expectations when he pledged in 2007 to remove the earnings cap on SSI recipients. Never happened. $710.00 a month does not give you a decent room here and the wait for a housing subsidy exceeds 5 years. He pledged to end homelessness and wait times for vets. Don’t think highly of his foreign policy. I am not a supporter of amnesty for illegals but do support legal immigration. I do support his efforts to raise the minimum wage and there are states who have done it already. I believe that it should be higher where the cost of living is higher too. Has the opposing party hindered him? At times but that is to be expected. I have not seen real compromise on his part but would read a link that claims otherwise. As to OAS I did think it was possible that up to 100k would show and if there was a huge disruptive mob the Secret Service would have moved Obama for safety reasons. They obviously don’t know what impeachment means or how the laws work. I laughed when they posted that Obama had the clouds seeded to keep them from coming to D.C. Talking violence accomplishes nothing and shows nothing but their stupidity. I would appreciate a good source of information if you could take the time to post one. Thanks

I’ve been reading their facebook pages. The least insane I’ve found are OAS Live Broadcast and News and PFA/OAS Operation American Spring. This week was slow, mostly complaining about the media blackout Obama has forced by threatening the families of Beck, Hannity and Alex Jones, Col Riley going home because nobody would meet with him or accept his prepared Articles of Impeachment (he should be back this weekend) and insisting that as soon as all us dummies hear about OAS, we’ll come rushing to DC, scare the pee-waddin out of Obama who will then head for the hills. Some of them are getting brave enough to threaten violent takeover. If anyone dares suggest a coup is unconstitutional, they are informed that since Obama is a tyrant, and the 2A allows for overthrow of tyrannical governments, they are fully within their constitutional rights to do so (and the military and DC police forces back them 99.9%). It’s pretty amusing, but only if you have nothing better to do.

I enjoyed your analysis and I am still laughing! If it rains this weekend I will check them out. They need help no doubt; mental help.

OAS Live Broadcasts and News…is this group still active? I’m not finding it.

          • Shades May 30th, 2014 at 3:52 pm

No, the admins closed it down. There was so much in-fighting they spent more time refereeing than posting news. Granted, there wasn’t much news to post. Plus, they were afraid of a goat attack. Did you see what happened to the original Operation American Spring III page?

          • Mr. WalrusQ May 30th, 2014 at 7:02 pm

Yes! I loved it. I found something called Operation American Spring:Phases ll & lll. It has a few followers but no updates. I think they are about done.

I agree with Shades that you seem to be an intelligent, reasonable conservative. While we disagree on many issues, we could engage in constructive debate.

Might I respectfully suggest, therefore, a change in screen name and avatar? Nothing says “knee-jerk reflexive hater” like “Nobama”.

          • Nobama May 24th, 2014 at 9:13 pm

It actually attracts the people I prefer to hear from. People with maturity and wisdom who don’t let their emotions overrule their intellect because of a silly name and picture. People who read and respond with logic and facts to back it up without being disrespectful. Any suggestions for a new screen name?

oh I dunno. When some anti American hillbilly decides that I dont deserve the same rights and privileges as he does based on his twisted world view. His obvious ignorance and bigotry makes me laugh. Is that a bad thing?

Not at all. see my comment below

typical podunk hillbilly who has a problem with “icky” gay sex and is trying to use the Bible to justify his bigotry. Nothing new except for the fact he isnt a t bagger in congress

As usual, the greedy swindler cannot see HIS sin. If only there wasn’t that log in his eye…mammon.
