A woman walking her dog on a California street stabbed two pit bulls to death after they attacked her puppy.

Debbie Duran and her boyfriend, Marvin Funkhouser, were walking Duran’s two dogs on leashes in the 10700 block of Lancelet Road in Apple Valley at about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. Suddenly and “with no warning,” two pit bulls ran out from the side of a house and lunged at Funkhouser. They then turned and started attacking Duran’s 6-month-old husky/Queensland heeler-mix puppy, reports the Victorville Daily Press.

“I just went into momma-protecting mode, took my knife out of my doggie pack and started stabbing and stabbing,” Duran told reporters…
Kathy Suggs acknowledged that her pit bulls got loose through an open garage, but she believes Duran overreacted.

“This lady was walking around, I think, with the intent to kill the dog,” Suggs said. “Who walks around with a butcher knife? We all walk our dogs around here.”

I do have to wonder why anyone would carry a knife around with them like that. But if I were walking my dog on a leash in a public area and a couple of pit bulls came running out and attacked her, I would do whatever I felt necessary to protect her.

“I do have to wonder why anyone would carry a knife around with them like that.”

That’s a really odd question to ask after reading this story.

Tell me why it’s an odd question. I do not blame her for using it. I am just wondering why she happened to be carrying it in the first place.

Circumstances sometimes require some form of “protection”.

I was attacked by a neighborhood dog ( Shepard mix)..on my property. I killed it with a shovel. Not a good time. Needed stitches and a tetanus shot. Sometimes you just do what has to be done.

I love the pit bull haters that talk about the dogs like they’re monsters. While that woman was completely within her right to defend herself, she’s lucky they weren’t my dogs. I’d take that knife and shove it up her ass sideways.

pit bulls are dangerous and should be shot on site.

Something stinks with this “story”. The dog that belonged to the crazy meth head with the knife had only one small wound, could have been caused by the crazy. Pit owner is more of a loser. Sounds as though her dogs lived in a garage.

I would have done the exact same thing. My dogs are like my children and they trust me to keep them safe. The pitbull owner is at fault. Keep your dogs restrained, that’s part of being a responsible dog owner.
