Imagine turning down a piece of mail because you object to the stamp that’s on it. That’s what the American Family Association is asking its followers to do.

The AFA says on its website that Milk used “his charm and power to prey on young boys with emotional problems and drug addiction” and is the “last person we should be featuring on a stamp… This is not diversity; this is perversity.”

The AFA then recommends that people refuse the Harvey Milk stamp if a postal employee tries to sell it to them and refuse any mail delivered to their home if it includes the stamp.

No responses to Christian Group Calls On Members To Refuse Mail With Harvey Milk Stamp

Generally those boycotts don’t work as most are to lazy or uninterested to go along with it. These ‘call to actions’ are about as wasted effort as well. Who is going to refuse delivery of a check or a bill and then get into trouble for not responding in time? I’m sure there are a few nut jobs that might but that’s their problem.
    Sometimes stupidity is painful.

perhaps someone should send a belated card to Westboro Baptist with a Harvey Milk stamp?

  2. arc99 May 29th, 2014 at 7:46 pm

The post office already has their money. The person who originally purchased the stamp has clearly made their decision on the appropriateness of commemorating Supervisor Milk.

Exactly what are these people thinking they will accomplish other than creating more work for the post office which will lead to an increase in rates which they will also whine about?

These are the same people who are worried about the mark of the beast…

    Yeah, that’ll work.

Wanna bet if you write “Check enclosed” on the outside they will accept it?

    • granpa.usthai May 29th, 2014 at 9:51 pm

good point, Foundryman. If they receive the letter, open it, and don’t like the contents and try a RTS without paying postage, that’d be mail fraud.
If they try sending it back COD, simply refuse.

-and if the southern WHITE RACIST fundamental evangelicals ask for a ‘love offering’ – toss in a book of Harvey Milk stamps! with a note: (you’ll never get into heaven wearing mixed fibers for it is written: not all who say Lord, Lord shall enter into heaven, but only he who does the will of the father).

For hecks sake don’t lick em, they have gay cooties. It will turn you gay quicker than a zombie tea party birther racist Fox show that will turn you KKKay with their kkkooties.

Modern American right-wing conservative “Christianity” is a religion that worships hate.
They have nothing to do with Jesus Christ.

So they are going to refuse the birthday card from their mother? Frankly, I use most of the stamps I buy on bills, not on the limited personal mail I send out. But, please proceed, fake Christians. I’m waiting for the Benghazi stamp.

The American Family Assn. is one of the premiere hate groups in the US run by a segregationist minister in Mississippi, Donald Wildmon, also an avowed anti-semite, and his son Tim. Both have gotten rich off of it. For 30 years they’ve announced their periodic “boycotts” of all sorts of companies, networks, shows, movie studios, etc. all of which have utterly failed. They couldn’t care less as they are all about talking to the most entrenched bigots in America and making lots and lots and lots of money.
