The officer has resigned after charges were filed against him.

Naaman Adcock, 40, resigned Wednesday morning from the Fort Smith Police Department after being charged with suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm while intoxicated, reckless conduct with a firearm, felonious pointing a firearm and child endangerment, according to the Times Record.

According authorities, deputies were dispatched to Adcock’s home after dispatchers received a call about shots fired.

A 12-year-old girl had gone to a neighbor’s house to call 911 because her stepfather had threatened to shoot her 5-year-old brother.
