sonicchilismgnAnguished cries of “but… but… b-b-but… Second Amendment protect my family from Obama tyranny stand my ground FREEEDUM!!!?!” in 3… 2… 1…

Sonic Drive-In and Chili’s Grill & Bar have added their corporate voices to a growing list of food firms asking patrons to enjoy their meals without their guns.

The announcements Friday follow recent demonstrations by open-carry activists who brought rifles and shotguns into Sonic, Chili’s and Chipotle Mexican Grill outlets in Texas.

“We recognize that the open carry of firearms in restaurants creates an uncomfortable atmosphere and is not permitted under many local liquor laws,” said a statement from Brinker International, Chili’s Dallas-based parent. “So, we kindly ask that guests refrain from openly carrying firearms into our restaurants and we will continue to follow state and local laws on this issue.”

Texas law prohibits rifles and shotguns where alcohol is served.

In its statement, Sonic said that although the company has historically relied on local laws “to guide how we address the display of guns at drive-ins, recent actions required we carefully reconsider this approach.”

“We’ve considered the views and desires of our customers and employees that staff the drive-ins across the country,” the Oklahoma City-based company said. “Accordingly, we’re asking that customers refrain from bringing guns onto our patios or into our indoor dining areas. With respect to the storage of guns in vehicles, we ask that our customers continue to honor local laws.”

Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America had lobbied Chipotle, Chili’s and Sonic to ban open carrying of guns in their restaurants.

No responses to No Guns Allowed! Restaurants Smack Down ‘Open Carry’ Bullies

    Good

  2. Anomaly 100 May 31st, 2014 at 11:11 am

These groups are their own worst enemy.

  3. Billy Jackson May 31st, 2014 at 1:16 pm

I love the funny comments from the Open Scary group spouting they’ll never eat at those places.

Well, my first thought is that’s probably for the best, as these health nuts should probably abstain from fat and grease.

Guns and booze, not a good mix. I can see a “half in the bag,” customer being “upset” because he did not like the way his burger was cooked, pulling out “his piece” and shooting the cook or waitress.

Has it ever happened?? ON the other hand- many good people are alive and criminals dead or arrested. http://rt.com/usa/160900-ncarolina-no-guns-allowed-robbery/

This looks like spam to me.

        • bobby1122 May 31st, 2014 at 6:09 pm

Is not spam – I gave you a real website with TV news reports from major networks about cases.

If I were a manager of Sonic, I would be delighted if the gun nuts never patronized my restaurant.

    • Ross Cassell May 31st, 2014 at 7:33 pm

How do you tell who is a gun nut, do they have a tatoo or name badge, not all “gun nuts” carry their firearms with them, everywhere they go. Does this sentiment apply to law enforcement officers, and this also begs the question, are leo’s gun nuts as well? I have a neighbor who enjoys deer hunting, is he a gun nut as well?

      • Robert Merrill Taylor May 31st, 2014 at 9:52 pm

I don’t reply to stupid questions.

        • Ross Cassell June 1st, 2014 at 8:41 am

So you cant answer the question, you cant really define who or what is a gun nut? You choose to stereotype instead, I thought you liberal types werent supposed to stereotype???

  6. Ross Cassell May 31st, 2014 at 4:05 pm

I wonder if gun wielding robbers will respect those rules?

    • arc99 May 31st, 2014 at 4:16 pm

They already respect those rules at the numerous state legislature buildings around the country where open carry is legal in many places, except inside the state capital.

      • Ross Cassell May 31st, 2014 at 7:30 pm

So with this DIVERSION, you are saying that a gun wielding robber will see the “no guns allowed” signage and decide not to rob these establishments?

        • mea_mark May 31st, 2014 at 7:53 pm

It is an additional crime they are committing and the hope is they might think twice if it means extended jail time if they get caught. Most criminals are stupid, so it might take awhile for the message to get through though. It certainly won’t stop all but it might reduce the numbers.

          • Ross Cassell May 31st, 2014 at 8:12 pm

LOL… You seriously dont think criminals care about which laws they break when they decide to cross those lines? These establishments are well within their rights to set these policies at the cost of whatever business they might lose, however these policies will only be obeyed by the honest people, criminals could care less and will probably be reassured by the fact that they wont have to worry about any real resistance.

          • mea_mark May 31st, 2014 at 8:25 pm

            LOL… Yup

  7. bobby1122 May 31st, 2014 at 5:33 pm

All you LIBS- put these ” NO guns Allowed ” signs up out side your doors. Criminals will flock.- I hope they don’t rape your wives and kids and don’t kill you all. http://rt.com/usa/160900-ncarolina-no-guns-allowed-robbery/

    • mea_mark May 31st, 2014 at 5:55 pm

I am sorry but I see no value in your comment.

      • bobby1122 May 31st, 2014 at 6:18 pm

Are you the Censor or a closed minded servant??

  8. bobby1122 May 31st, 2014 at 6:06 pm

Coward Progressive Libs delete comment instead of finding fault with argument- Put those “gun Free Zone” signs out in front of your homes. See how it works out for you.

    • mea_mark May 31st, 2014 at 6:12 pm

Your previous comment was phrased inappropriately, in my opinion. Tone down the vitriol, or go away.

      • bobby1122 May 31st, 2014 at 6:17 pm

Please explain- or was it just too close to the truth??

        • mea_mark May 31st, 2014 at 6:22 pm

It was said in a sarcastic way implying that very bad things should happen to liberals. It was no where near the truth, in my opinion. If you push it, I will simply ban you as a troll. I have no interest in going back and forth with you.

  9. MrWilkinson May 31st, 2014 at 7:35 pm

I CCed there today. Would you have been scared if I OCed? What’s the difference? Personally, I CC because I want the bad guy to be surprised when the time is right for action.

How about this one for size, a baker in Colorado was ordered to bake wedding cakes for same sex couples… Seems one is not really free to make business decisions if it runs afoul of the PC crowd..
