Forsyth County, Georgia authorities were aware of Dennis Marx as a sovereign citizen who didn’t recognize the government.

A law enforcement official familiar with the situation said explosives are suspected because Marx is a “sovereign citizen” well-known to local authorities. They are concerned about explosives because sovereign citizens are known to be involved with explosives.

In fact, his home is being described as an “explosive trap.”

Piper described Marx’s home as a “bomb” and told Channel 2’s Tony Thomas that he was confident it was setup as an explosive trap.

The sheriff said evidence showed that Marx had not been living at his home for more than a week and instead had been staying at a hotel. Piper said it will take hours to clear the courthouse and the home.

Marx had filed a lawsuit against the sheriff’s office accusing them of excessive force and unconstitutional search and seizure. Ironic that someone who shoots up a courthouse accuses anyone of “excessive force.”

No responses to Georgia Shooter Was Known To Authorities As Anti-Government ‘Sovereign Citizen’

I think this is what the #GOP calls a patriot, at least up until he starts shooting.

Then they call him a left-wing anti-gun liberal Democrat.

    Republicans are out of control.

I ran across the sovereign citizens back in the days of Bulletin Boards.

You can say they are conservative in much the same manner Lenin was a democrat.

so then why did conservatives complain when the 2009 Homeland Security report warned about right wing terrorism by people like this?

      • Shootist June 7th, 2014 at 10:22 am

It seems to me the Conservatives complain most every time anyone’s rights are violated. I don’t know about the specifics of the case you’re mentioning. Never heard about it.

        • arc99 June 7th, 2014 at 10:42 am

no one’s rights were violated. the incident to which I refer was one of the first occurrences of Obama Derangement Syndrome.

the DHS report on the threat of right wing terrorism had been compiled mostly during the administration of President Bush.

A previous report on left wing terrorism had been published earlier. The final report on right wing terrorism was published early in the Obama administration.

Despite the fact that the report accurately profiled the perpetrators of several incidents which later happened and cited as an example a prior incident in which law enforcement officers were killed, conservatives complained that the report was “targeting” them.

No conservatives don’t just complain when someone’s rights are violated. They also complain when there is nothing wrong, other than their insane hatred of the President.

Conservatives Decry Homeland Security Report on “Rightwing” Extremism

          .

          .

          .

DHS defines “rightwing” as “broadly divided into those groups, movements, and adherents that are primarily hate-oriented (based on hatred of particular religious, racial or ethnic groups), and those that are mainly antigovernment, rejecting federal authority in favor of state or local authority, or rejecting government authority entirely. It may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration.”

The “emergent issues,” the DHS report states, include both “the election of the first African American president” and “a prolonged economic downturn—including real estate foreclosures, unemployment, and an inability to obtain credit,” which DHS says “present unique drivers for rightwing radicalization and recruitment.”

“A recent example of the potential violence associated with a rise in rightwing extremism may be found in the shooting deaths of three police officers in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on 4 April 2009,” the report states. “The alleged gunman’s reaction reportedly was influenced by his racist ideology and belief in antigovernment conspiracy theories related to gun confiscations, citizen detention camps, and a Jewish-controlled ‘one world government.’”

my rights were violated. I am forced to buy a product I don’t want. that isn’t the US I was born in.

my rights were violated. I am forced to buy a product I don’t want.

            _______

Yet, WE are forced to pay for you when you CHOSE NOT to buy the product.

          • arc99 June 7th, 2014 at 11:12 am

so no rebuttal to my point that the DHS report was correct and no one’s rights were violated? fine.

in any event, your rights are not being violated on health care. if you do not purchase insurance, you will pay more in taxes than someone with the same income who does purchase insurance. it is no different than the mortgage interest deduction where someone who buys a house and deducts the interest will pay less in taxes than someone with the same income who chooses to rent. no one is forcing you to buy health insurance any more so than you are being forced tobuy a house. whether or not you pursue the favorable tax advantages is clearly up to you.

mine is a minority view on the left, but I am perfectly willing to compromise on the individual mandate. Congress has the authority to set bankruptcy laws. So I would propose that anyone such as yourself who pointedly refuses to purchase health insurance, would be prohibited from including any medical expenses in a filing for bankruptcy. You would simply check a box to opt out of the mandate on your tax form. You would not be able to pass on the cost of your care to those of us who do have insurance.

When presenting at an emergency room without insurance, the hospital could check online to see if you are an “opt out”. If so, they could refuse treatment based on medical discretion.

it is not the US I was born into either and I for one am quite thankful. the America of 2014 is a far better place than the America of 1952.

Basically, the judge ordered that the plaintiff cite actual names, circumstances and places in his complaint (eg: FACTS) or the case would be dismissed.
Most courts (outside Florida) are usually like that.

One of the worse things in our country is a lack of caring about anyone else. I like the Health Care Mandate. The reason I like it is because I care about low wage families not being able to afford the high cost of Health Insurance. All it takes is just one emergency situation and if you have no insurance, you lose everything. You lose your home, life savings, business etc. My brother started a Computer business years ago. He built and maintained computers systems. A small company but my brother couldn’t afford the high price of medical insurance. He had one stroke and the costs of the doctors, hospital, ambulance, he will pay for the rest of his life. He lost his business. He lost his home. He lost all his savings from one emergency situation. My brother worked hard all of his life. He is thankful of Obama Care. That is all it takes but most people have to whine about it. It is part of the Society today. The me me me, what is in it for me, Society. That is too bad that people don’t care about struggling families. All I see is whiners and angry about the health insurance. Oh my, you have to have health insurance? Soothe yourself and chock it up to being selfish and uncaring for others. There are more people like these Whiners. I do care. I should care but so should everyone else. Nope, Me Me Me. What is in it for me? It makes me sick but I see this all over our country. The I don’t care about anyone else
