Oregon High School Shooter Skirted Security By Hiding Rifle In Guitar Case
Jared Michael Pagett, the 15-year-old who shot a student and injured a teacher before killing himself, slipped by security by hiding a rifle in a guitar case.
Padgett, who was 15, was armed with an AR-15 rifle assault rifle when he barged into Reynolds High School, police said Wednesday.
That is the same kind of rifle Adam Lanza used in December 2012 to slaughter 20 first-graders and six staffers at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn.
Padgett also had a semi-automatic handgun, a large knife, and had a duffle bag stuffed with nine magazines holding hundreds of rounds of ammunition, said Police Chief Scott Anderson of the Troutdale, Ore., department.
