Anthony Cumia went on a racist Twitter rant, claiming a black woman assaulted him in Times Square.  Among his bon mots was referring to blacks as “animals.” Patrick Reilly, Senior Vice President of Communications, issued a statement to Buzzfeed.

SiriusXM has terminated its relationship with Anthony Cumia of the Opie & Anthony channel. The decision was made, and Cumia informed, late Thursday, July 3 after careful consideration of his racially-charged and hate-filled remarks on social media. Those remarks and postings are abhorrent to SiriusXM, and his behavior is wholly inconsistent with what SiriusXM represents.

But Cumia is unrepentant, as he doesn’t believe he has erred in any way.

Some of the Tweets of support from his racist, sexist fans have been removed.

Here are the first few tweets, deleted by Anthony Cumia but captured and archived on Storify.com (hat tip: Think Progress).

      White victimization lying alert.

As we all know, black people never play the victim.

When were your ancestors slaves, or without rights? Besides being racists that were called out for their hate, prejudice and ignorance; when were your ancestors discriminated?

          • Dr_Fox July 4th, 2014 at 10:14 pm

I never owner or oppressed anybody. Don’t blame me, that was hundreds of years ago. Build a time machine and go back and direct your wrath at the appropriate people. That’s like still hating the Germans for war crimes that were committed in the 1940’s.

          • AnthonyLook July 4th, 2014 at 10:27 pm

Talk to Jewish families that were impacted and are alive today if they are still not affected/ victimized from those acts; you callous ignorant racist.

Or perhaps observe the ethnic cleansing going on in Palestine as we speak? Don’t believe every damned thing you hear.

          • AnthonyLook July 4th, 2014 at 11:43 pm

Or perhaps observe the needless killing of three harmless teenagers walking home from school by Palestinians.

            “don’t believe everything you hear”

My ancestors were Italian and Irish immigrants.

Who were, you know, deprived of rights.

          • AnthonyLook July 5th, 2014 at 3:46 am

The Irish have ancestors that were Indentured Servants; so what’s your point? Where you’re ancestors slaves, was your race not given civil rights until the 1960’s. Is that the comparison you’re making?

The Free Market raises its invisible finger! SiriusXM subscribers quickly canceled giving him the boot courtesy of the power of socialist media. Giving regressive’s enough rope leaves them wondering ‘Hey what happened! Why are cons choking so quickly?’

    • chris July 5th, 2014 at 2:24 am

The free market “raising its finger” would be letting the show continue to broadcast and then canceling it if it’s ratings dropped. Very few people who listen to O&A would be offended by what he said. Instead, a small vocal minority who have a loud voice got this man fired. There is nothing “racially charged” about any of his tweets.

      • Obewon July 5th, 2014 at 3:40 am

SiriusXM’s free market Capitalists disagree with you and obviously want to take “their production” in a more evolved direction.

Have you ever read Adam Smith’s Wealth of Nations? In today’s Information Age, Anthony’s under-reported racist episodes (that perhaps you’re unaware of) prove he was Darwinian dead weight.

The mind once expanded by a new idea never returns to it’s former dimensions.

  3. Shades July 4th, 2014 at 4:28 pm

I have a challenge for these people who think the 1A protects their job despite any ridiculous/hateful thing they say. Try calling your boss an ugly baboon and get back to us.

    • Alan July 4th, 2014 at 5:30 pm

that’s not the government. The 1A means the government can’t clamp down on free speech. Your boss can fire you for wearing the wrong tie.

      • Shades July 4th, 2014 at 6:14 pm

Yes, I realize that. My inartfully worded comment was intended for people who think the 1A protects them from any untoward consequences resulting from practicing their freedom of speech.

      • fancypants July 4th, 2014 at 9:57 pm

out here alan the boss can fire you for looking at him wrong. How do you get those jobs wearing the correct tie ?

    • Douchenozzle Hipsterfail July 4th, 2014 at 10:55 pm

Did he insult his boss? I thought he made a post on Twitter on his free time to an unnamed individual.

      • Shades July 5th, 2014 at 9:19 am

Sheesh, is that what you took from my post? The point is, for all those who think his 1A rights were infringed upon because he was fired, is that the 1A does NOT protect your job.

  4. fantagor July 4th, 2014 at 6:11 pm

He was obviously drunk off his ass and decide to Tweet the altercation. Now he has lots of extra free time to Tweet more racist garbage.

Why is it either or? I’m liberal. My family is mixed race. He was wronged. He spouted off about it and I don’t blame him. It’s ridiculous that he should be fired. Can we ever just stand up and say that the criminals are wrong not the people calling them out? You won’t like this Deport, but there is a chunk of the black community that continues to embarrass my decent hard working family and I’m tired of it. Yes good black people shouldn’t be generalized for the actions of some bad apples just as anyone shouldn’t be, but it happens. These fools make life even harder for my kids, who are decent young people from a decent home but who are unfairly judged because of situations like this.

    • Guest July 4th, 2014 at 11:11 pm

Exactly. if i tweeted a bunch of (at the very least) reckless things and my bosses saw it, I would be fired. What makes him “special?” Because he’s on the radio??? I’m on internet radio. I wanted to say whatever I wanted so I created my OWN SHOW that I control. Otherwise, no. He was wrong and should have been fired. Any racist responses to my comment will be met with… all the fux I do not give about your tears.

I liked it better when it was only XM radio
Howard made sirus his own money maker then decided to play nothing but re- runs for a few months ? if howard calls it quits its because his audience doesn’t want to pay for re- run shows.

  12. natman2939 July 4th, 2014 at 10:38 pm

did he refer to blacks as animals or the people that were attacking him as animals? nothing i’m seeing in this article is really that bad or shocking. If she really did threaten to claim he sexual harrassed her that is some bullshit female privilege. (what? you can only be “privileged” if your white male?)

  13. stee July 4th, 2014 at 10:47 pm

Simple rule: If you must Tweet, only do it between 8am and noon, when you are most calm. Any other time is too risky.

  14. ChipChipperson July 4th, 2014 at 10:52 pm

Sirius made a bad decision firing him. The people that complained don’t even have Sirius and most of O&A fans are going to unsubscribe.

        NO amendment is without restriction.

  16. Ophelia Keith July 4th, 2014 at 11:00 pm

What I’m seeing is someone attacked him, quite possibly in a racial way if a group of people started giving him a hard time and he’s venting about it. Why shouldn’t he? Why can’t he? I see no reason for him to have been fired. I do see a reason for the police to maybe looking for his attacker.

  17. Brian K. July 4th, 2014 at 11:13 pm

Wow, Sirius will be out a whole 60 bucks a month if all the O&A fans cancel their subscriptions. As has been said by others, don’t think this can’t happen to you also, if you are out in public acting like an ass while wearing you’re employers uniform, you will get fired.

    • djmc993150 July 4th, 2014 at 11:54 pm

Actually I just canceled my subscription and I never listened to their show once. I don’t agree with what he said nor am I going to pretend I know all he said or excuse. However, that should be the consumers choice. If people were offended by his statements than write Sirius and let them know they wont listen to him or let his ratings speak to that issue.
Offensive speech should be allowed, and he didn’t even make those statements on his show, so its not even about his show. Sirius has taken away the option for people to be offended or supportive and unilaterally self censored to cater to an audience that probably never listened to him anyway. To what end?
I would rather not support Sirius at all nor any of its shows than support them censoring. Further, some of the shows on Sirius channels could easily be considered far more ‘offensive’ in other ways. Its selective outrage and selective censorship for obvious reasons.
And they wont get another penny from me.

  18. Lionel Hutz July 4th, 2014 at 11:19 pm

White males are banned from speaking any opinion which is not liberally politically correct. Meanwhile the “black channels” on Sirius promote anti-white hatred on a daily basis.

    • Byron July 4th, 2014 at 11:37 pm

Have you actually read his statements? Most articles aren’t actually providingt hem for some reason, not even giving one or two beyond him calling her an “animal.” Until I saw the actual statements he made, I thought the media was over0-reacting. The guy has immense anger issues and I’m pretty sure he’s a racist as well: http://thinkprogress.org/media/2014/07/04/3456669/opie-and-anthony-host-fired-by-siriusxm-after-this-brutally-racist-tirade-on-twitter/
Even if he wasn’t being racist, he was completely out of control and as a public figure working for a company who’s whole business is publicity, he deserves to be fired. I don’t care that someone punched him. He should be a man and not throw a rage inspired tantrum.

      • sue July 5th, 2014 at 10:55 am

Byron, he was being a man. He did not retaliate in kind. He could have, and maybe should have. All this backlash over a rage-inspired tantrum is ridiculous, and does not negate the fact that he was viciously attacked. Now he can’t even VOICE his rage? Why is everyone gliding right past this? The floodgates opened from this, are going to be very damaging.

    • based_dude93 July 5th, 2014 at 1:00 am

  19. sue July 4th, 2014 at 11:24 pm

SHE PUNCHED HIM IN THE FACE. If he called her an animal, how is that racist, and NOT an appropriate word to call someone who behaves violently?? No offense to animals. Didn’t she call him a white mot#erfu(ker? Besides all which (words being just words, in the end): SHE PUNCHED HIM IN THE FACE. To me, that’s the awful and shocking thing that happened.

    • Byron July 4th, 2014 at 11:38 pm

From the information most articles are giving, I understand where you are coming from, but for some completely stupid fucking reason, none of the articles condemning him are showing teh “very real” evidence of why he deserves it: hjis actual statements. He’s clearly out of control and almost certainly a horrible person with some pretty obvious racist beliefs. Even if he isn’t being racist in his rant, he’s certainly not fit for a position requiring him to be a public figure.
The only article I’ve seen that actually shows his statements: http://thinkprogress.org/media/2014/07/04/3456669/opie-and-anthony-host-fired-by-siriusxm-after-this-brutally-racist-tirade-on-twitter/

      • sue July 5th, 2014 at 12:16 am

Thank you for sending the tweets. While I agree, the words are classless and degrading, they are in NO WAY ‘evidence of why he deserves it’. Since when do words trump violence in punishable offenses??? Actually, she called him a racist word first. He didn’t retaliate in violence. She then punched him – prior to his saying ANYTHING, as far as we know, the tweets are after the fact, correct? No matter how out of control his words may be, her actions were way beyond any lack of control – they were savage and animalistic. Those words are used for violence, not for race, as far as I’m concerned. She IS very lucky that he didn’t punch her back; he would have been well within his rights to defend himself, as MANY others would have done. Things are definitely out of whack in society right now; sometimes it brings the worst out of peoples’ mouths, whether it be from frustration, anger, racism, or adrenalin. I’m not condoning his tweets, but they pale in comparison to a violent ACTION. No matter what.

        • Retort July 5th, 2014 at 2:38 am

Look, these are the same guys that had people have sex inside of a catholic church as a bit for on-air. His kind of behavior brought the company a lot of bad press after they promised to avoid controversy when they came to SIRIUS after losing most of their terestrial radio gigs. He couldn’t follow his contract, he got into a media problem, and SIRIUSXM opted out. That’s how it works. This has nothing to do with PC or privelege or whatever, SIRIUSXM made a deal with them that they would not generate controversy like this in order to get a broadcast channel on SIRIUSXM. K-Rock and terestrial radio dropped them in 2009, and they never managed to go back because other radio stations were not interested. They talked on air – openly – about how SIRIUSXM gave them a ‘this is your last shot’ speech, and they took it and decided that they could do a fun and wild show without getting in trouble. He got in trouble. SIRIUSXM cut ties. SInce they’ve know about this for 5 years+ about the guidelines SIRIUSXM setup for them, this isn’t a shock.

        • Carla Akins July 5th, 2014 at 8:21 am

You are correct, no words justify a physical attack. Law enforcement should have been contacted. That said, nothing justifies his twitter rant calling for her death either.

What you said makes zero sense. Would you like to try again?

      • Jason July 5th, 2014 at 1:32 am

It does make sense. Did he call her the ‘n’ word or make generalizations about her due to her race? He may have, I don’t know – I haven’t seen a report that specifically pointed out what was racially charged about his complaints about the assailant who punched him, other than describing her as a black woman. What else did he say? (Just curious)

Whoap. Nevermind. Yes, he was INSANELY RACIST. Here’s the article with his actual tweets. I posted this response after getting to his statement, “They aren’t people”.

          http://thinkprogress.org/media/2014/07/04/3456669/opie-and-anthony-host-fired-by-siriusxm-after-this-brutally-racist-tirade-on-twitter/

        • Retort July 5th, 2014 at 2:35 am

Gawker has all of his tweets collected and some of them are.. yeah, he goes way over board.

      • Chase July 6th, 2014 at 10:19 pm

He claims he was assaulted by an African American woman and people are calling him a racist. My statement makes perfect sense.

Does this make more sense to you? “White man was attacked by African American woman. Man was charged with hate crime for being assaulted.”

  22. JemaJet July 4th, 2014 at 11:40 pm

Why is this about race? Just because you feel something is racist, or if something that someone says seems like it could be racist, doesn’t make it so. Stop slandering people as racists and homophobes, just because your emotions are unstable. To call someone a b$*@# is one thing, but to go beyond that is slander. I don’t care what color you are; you don’t have the right to bang the gavel, and decide that someone is a racist by what little biased evidence you have. Talk about guilty until proven innocent, if even that!

  23. derpderp July 5th, 2014 at 12:10 am

the idiot CHOSE to air his racist rants on twitter. no one held a gun to his head and said “share this racist drivel with the entire world, DO IT.” the dude allegedly was attacked by someone who didn’t like their pic being taken, and his first instinct is to spew his nasty rant on a forum accessed by millions instead of, you know… filing a police report. Or hell, maybe doing anything that might actually help his situation.

essentially: boo-hoo. grow up and learn how to internet.

    • sue July 5th, 2014 at 12:31 am

Well, her first instinct was to punch someone in the face (repeatedly, if you read all of Cumia’s tweets) because he was allegedly trying to take her picture – which he denies – instead of, you know, asking him not to, finding a police officer to stop him, or simply walking away, which might have actually helped the situation. I cannot believe his rant is actually, to some, overshadowing the fact that he was physically assaulted for no reason. Does that mean I get to punch someone’s lights out if they dare to take my picture? I hope he presses charges, that’s all I’m worried about. We can’t have another violent human walking around, who hasn’t grown up and learned not to use her fists when she doesn’t like something another human does. Like use a camera.

      • derpderp July 5th, 2014 at 1:38 am

i never said she was in the right for punching him. all i said it that he was dumb if he thought it was a good idea to have a racist meltdown on twitter. when has that EVER gone well for a celebrity? he’s a self-important, racist idiot.

        • Chris July 5th, 2014 at 2:36 am

There was nothing racist about his rant.

          • Carla Akins July 5th, 2014 at 8:18 am

You should take an English course. Words have meanings

          • Chris July 5th, 2014 at 10:31 am

I read the whole rant and there was nothing racial about the rant. I read all his tweets. There was some mean and vicious things spewed, but nothing racial. If you disagree, please provide some examples.

          • Carla Akins July 5th, 2014 at 10:49 am

All he did was bring up race. He was providing a description to

the police, he simply could have said woman or men but that’s not how he chose to pose the tweets:

So, I’m taking pix in NYC & a black girl who was in frame punched me in the face. I called her a fucking “&$;;-:” cause that’s what she WAS!

She’s lucky I was a white legal gun owner or she’d be dead. Then 5 blacks started giving me shit!

Im fucking livid. If I was an illegal savage I’d have shot her. The I are violence in her was so predictable. I hope she gets killed.

Savage violent animal fucks prey on white people. Easy targets. This CUNT has no clue how lucky she was. She belted me 10 times. I had a gun

            Anthony Cumia@AnthonyCumiaFollow

RT @tikiruss: @AnthonyCumia WTF? For no reason? -Reason!?? I WAS WHITE!!!

I hope a home boy beats her to death
There’s a deep seeded problem with violence in the black community. Try to address it and you’ll be exiled to racistville. But it’s real.

If you cannot see the racist tone in these tweets – it may be a case of “you might be a racist if…”

          • derpderp July 5th, 2014 at 12:44 pm

            you’re hilarious.
so you wouldn’t mind repeating the things he said in a public forum? like, a REAL public forum and not the anonymous shield that is the internet? you should try that and see how well it goes. see how many people agree with you. go ahead and drop some extra n-bombs in for good measure.

          • Chris July 5th, 2014 at 1:31 pm

All I said was there wasn’t anything racist about his rant. If you disagree then quote something he said. Also, Anthony did post this stuff in a public forum with his real name attached to his tweets. He is one of the few people willing to have an opinion in 2014.

          • derpderp July 5th, 2014 at 10:38 pm

sure, fine. here’s a few nuggets.

“If I was an illegal savage I’d have shot her.”
“Savage violent animal fucks prey on white people.”
            “They aren’t people.”
“I hope a home boy beats her to death.”
“The automatic jump to violence in that community is astounding.”

if he had kept the insults personal to his attacker and not tried to demonize an entire race of people for one person’s BS, he probably wouldn’t be in such hot water. just sayin’.

I’m sure there is a ‘morals clause’ in his contract that Sirius offered as cause.

  25. MeanieHead July 5th, 2014 at 1:11 am

It’s always excusable if it’s a liberal doing the racist rants (see Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson to name a couple) but whatever.

    • Brandon H July 5th, 2014 at 2:32 am

Politics bro. Which politician(OK, besides Sarah Palin or Michelle Bachman) is going to disenfranchise the ethnic vote by speaking out against Al Sharpton or Jessie Jackson.

    • Carla Akins July 5th, 2014 at 8:16 am

Please provide me one piece of supportive evidence where Jackson or Sharpton publically called for someone’s death.

  26. William July 5th, 2014 at 1:44 am

OK, I’ll admit I am not a listener, but let me see if I got this. Anthony and Opie do all sorts of incredibly offensive disgusting things ON the air and it’s ok..Off the air..not so much?

    • Orrin Cratch July 5th, 2014 at 9:21 pm

“Anthony and Opie do all sorts of incredibly offensive disgusting things ON the air and it’s ok.”

They didn’t do things “on the air”. They were not on terrestrial radio. They were on a private subscription-only satellite service called Sitrius XM that is permitted greater latitude in content that could be deemed offensive than terrestrial radio or television.

  27. Rose Davignon July 5th, 2014 at 2:04 am

White men have abused black women for centuries. She was standing up for herself. Was what she did too much? Yes, but you don’t know where she’s coming from. Years of abuse from oppressive white men and maybe she finally snapped.
Also, she punches him, and he talks about KILLING her?!?! If a white woman were punching him, he would not use words like “animal” “savage” and talk about shooting her. Don’t tell me I don’t know that. Look into your hearts and you know it too. He said she wasn’t a female, she was an animal bitch. She was sub-human. Black PEOPLE are not human to him.
Black people are always getting pointed at, laughed at, judged by white people. From Sarah Baartman to a video I recently saw of a black woman walking around in a revealing outfit. Someone had a hidden camera on her, and I watched as white people snuck around and took pictures of her behind her back, pointing and exchanging looks. It was embarrassing as a white person.
And as far as comments about black people saying prejudice things against white people – black people could say prejudice things about me all day long, it would not bother me at all. It would affect my life in no way. White people say prejudice things against black people and they are driven out of neighborhoods, not hired, jailed, beaten, lynched, sold as chattel, segregated, etc etc. Go ahead black people, vent about being oppressed by white people all you want, you deserve it is what I think. White people are just afraid black people are going to take control and treat them like how they’ve been treated (but that’s not true)

    • Brandon H July 5th, 2014 at 2:24 am

Honestly, you could have just left it at, “he was wrong”. If you wanted, you could have expanded your thoughts simply with “She was also wrong”. Using a series of reverse ad hominems to defend a person you know nothing about individually, or using an existential fallacy to generalize caucasians, doesn’t actually demonstrate anything besides an improperly presented argument. Saying all black people are oppressed by white people is just as irrational as saying all white people oppress black people, and the reality is, neither is true, and pulling the centuries card is always going to be irrelevant because people DON’T live for centuries. You can either say she was right or she was wrong on an individual basis, you can’t say she was right because thousands of other women she will never meet who died before she was born were oppressed, so she is vindicated by their suffrage. If a Native American showed up one day and started punching white people, is he also vindicated? Wouldn’t you say they would have a stronger case? They are actually STILL living on reservations I.E. internment camps in the desert. They are actually still suffering in the same way they were 100 years ago. Here’s a bit of basic philosophy that does generally work: “Two wrongs don’t make a right”. By no means is this a defense of Anthony Cumia. He is clearly a grade A douche, and I might have even punched him too. But I would punch him on the grounds that he personally was being a douche to me personally. I’m not going to pin it on some abstract historical reference that doesn’t actually apply to me.

  28. Immortal July 5th, 2014 at 2:07 am

Opie and Andy have been fined numerous times for saying things that were not in accordance with FCC rules. It got to the point where the companies that were broadcasting them were getting the fines also. You want to shock and awe the masses to get viewers, but there has to be a point where you yourself draw the line, And in most professions while there are conduct rules that govern what you do at work, and in the public “celeb” side there’s more. Opie took his attitude one step too far and now has to pay for it. I don’t want an apology from him because that would be giving him an audience that I don’t feel he needs. And what he said was wrong no matter what color you are. If you think otherwise then maybe you can support Opie while he’s on vacation laughing at you.

    • Chris July 5th, 2014 at 2:33 am

Please read the story if you are going to comment on it. Its “Opie and Anthony”, not “Opie and Andy. ” “Opie and Anthony” were never fined by the FCC, the companies they worked for were fined. Anthony was the one fired, not Opie. Your post couldn’t have been more incorrect…

      • Immortal July 5th, 2014 at 11:34 am

        Run-ins with the FCC[edit]

The Federal Communications Commission has twice fined Opie and Anthony for broadcasting material deemed in violation of decency standards. The first fine involved several November 2000 – January 2001 airings of a jingle produced by Dru Boogie, a DJ/producer who regularly produces content for the show. The $21,000 fine also involved a segment of “Guess What’s in My Pants”, as well as a song titled, “I’m Horny for Little Girls”.[24] Opie and Anthony’s second FCC violation – the “Sex for Sam” broadcast – set a precedent for being the first time that a fine was issued to each individual station airing the alleged indecent material.[25] The total was $357,500; $27,500 against each of the thirteen CBS Radio/Infinity-owned stations that broadcast the show.[26] Infinity appealed both fines, after which its parent company Viacom made a $3.5 million settlement which canceled all pending indecency violations. I think the first line states what I said in the first place, so maybe more research on your part and less time trying to puff your chest out the internet. I got the name wrong MY BAD. But it couldn’t have been that bad being you got the jist of what I was trying to say.

This country is so politically correct ! Nobody can say nothing no more to offend people ! I experienced myself somebody said something racist toward me and I just talked it back. That’s the end of story. Why people take everything about race, etc seriously? seriously!

    • Brandon H July 5th, 2014 at 2:40 am

Just fyi, nobody can say nothing is a double negative. You just said everyone can say everything.

      • Linda July 5th, 2014 at 2:43 am

of course, everybody can say anything they want. What is the problem? Somebody said something racist toward me and I just talk it back, why is that a racist issue? I don’t understand! And, Black can say “Whitey” all the time and racist .. and it’s not an issue? think again !

        • tmservo July 5th, 2014 at 3:24 am

SIRIUSXM doesn’t care so much about the racism part, they care about the public relations problem they would have if they ‘stand behind’ this guy, and the story doesn’t turn out.. they worry that the next week will be news stories about this event, and then someone will bring up the sex in a church in Boston, and someone will regurgitate accusations about the end at KROCK which went around years ago. And then SIRIUSXM spends weeks defending their employee from a situation that they don’t have any proof on, while the guy has a twitter feed up suggesting that a regular person should be murdered with a hand gun.

Even if it’s just words, as a company, it’s crappy PR.. and this isn’t some guy talking in a bar with his friends, this is someone yelling this stuff out to 159k followers on an account that was officially linked by SIRIUSXM from their website and has been used to promo his show there.. so..

          • Linda August 27th, 2014 at 1:10 am

as if SIRIUSXM is a Self-Righteous Radio Station?

        • Brandon H July 5th, 2014 at 3:30 am

There was no point. I was being an ass by pointing out that your grammar contradicted your argument. If you’re looking for a point, here: While I personally have no concern for what words a person chooses to use in regards to my personal self, using your personal opinion as a basis for what should be universally accepted is not a rational argument. If I decided one day I didn’t mind being kicked in the genitals, it does not then follow that everyone should be okay with it.

          • Linda August 27th, 2014 at 1:09 am

so, what is your problem? don’t be such a double standard !

    • tmservo July 5th, 2014 at 2:50 am

At one point in his twitter rant, he posts a photo of her and says ‘I hope she catches a bullet!” and another photo, followed by the statement “I really hope she gets shot & killed” (http://thinkprogress.org/media/2014/07/04/3456669/opie-and-anthony-host-fired-by-siriusxm-after-this-brutally-racist-tirade-on-twitter/)

That’s not about politically correct.. put aside issues of race.. if a celebrity posted photos of you, and let’s assume both you and the celebrity are white or whatever.. and they said “this person should be shot and killed” and sent it out to their 159THOUSAND followers, don’t you think you’d be freaked out? If you were the company that hired him, would it really be about PC, or would it be “OMG, a celebrity we pay just took to twitter and told his fans someone needed to die by a gun, and posted photos of them”

      I mean.. holy heck

      • Chris July 5th, 2014 at 3:03 am

Sirius XM paid him millions of dollars for him to be shocking. For years they made millions of dollars off this radio personality. Now suddenly, they aren’t OK with it?

Lets talk about context for a second. Anthony was punched in the face. He was not happy about this so he said mean things about the person who assaulted him. No one is going to argue that Anthony is a mature man but he’s made a living for 20 years on being outrageous.

At the end of the day, no one is forcing you to follow him on twitter. Likewise, you have the right to be offended by what the shock jock has to say. Truthfully, if you are really offended by what Anthony said than maybe you need to re evaluate the context of what you are reading.

There is a lot of fake outrage going on in this country. I think there is a really small percent of people who are really offended by what he said. However, we as a country, really like to get people fired or demand apologies.

        • tmservo July 5th, 2014 at 3:08 am

And you know he was punched in the face first because… ? And there is proof he was punched first where?

SIRIUSXM made a lot of money with a lot of acts that they axed at different points.

Whether I”m offended or not doesn’t matter.. it really doesn’t. The employer has the right to terminate an at-will employee for whatever reason they want. He has no constitutional right to be a radio show host, and SIRIUSXM as an employer can fire him for any reason because he is an at-will employee.

You can’t force a company to keep someone in their employment they don’t want. They don’t want him. For whatever reason. That’s their right to do so.

          • Chris July 5th, 2014 at 3:17 am

There hasn’t been a contrary reports that he was not punched so I don’t believe there is any reason to think he is lying about it.

Anthony is (was) under contract with Sirious so they couldn’t just get rid of him whenever they wanted. I’m sure they had some out clauses his said contract but he wasn’t exactly an hourly employee for the company.

Whether you (the audience) is offended or not SHOULD be the point. If they let the show run for 2 more months and the ratings tanked, then they SHOULD fire him. But if people who don’t listen to the show are the only ones who are outraged and they have no effect on ratings then why pander to them?

There is a lot of fake outrage in this country.

          • tmservo July 5th, 2014 at 3:19 am

His contract with SIRIUS has a standard public image clause. They can terminate him at will for fault with public image.. they’ve done it before elsewhere…. they’ve covered this on their show, I know.. I actually do listen (occassionally, when Stern is on one of his many, many vacations)

It’s not really about being offended, it’s about a celebrity taking to twitter to tell 159k followers that they think someone should die. This is not the way things work. Celebrities can have some whackball followers, truly nutty crazy people (and they are the same kind that call into both of these shows with nutty crazy stuff) who live and die on every word they say. You can’t start tweeting out photos of someone and say ‘I hope she catches a bullet’.. come on

          • Chris July 5th, 2014 at 3:39 am

            I understand your point.

I do believe that context is everything here. He has said much worst things on air and Siriusxm pays him to say ridiculous, outrageous things. Now Siriusxm is turning around and firing him for doing what they’ve paid him millions to do.

I also think its worth pointing out that Anthony truly spoke his mind here. He said how he was truly feeling. He didn’t PC his feelings he said what he was really feelings. He said things that many people feel after being assaulted.

This is the sorta thing that makes good radio. One day, this sorta thing is deemed ok and the next day, they fire their guy.

He said he wished “I hope she gets killed” which is not that crazy of a feeling for someone who just mugged you.

He used some foul langue but again, it isn’t his problem you (the general public) find it offensive.

          • tmservo July 5th, 2014 at 4:14 am

Problem is, and I know you listen to the show.. a bit like Stern they have their own ‘wacky’ caller base, including a set of super-die hards and the like to just hang on every word they say. Celebrities get that… that’s part of having a good show. Part of that is, despite how ‘real’ the feeling is, you have to understand that some of the people who listen to you are not necessarily right in the head. If you’ve voyaged over to any O&A fanboard or Stern Fan Network stuff, you know what i’m talking about. Maybe it’s just 1% of the fans of both who are real lunatics or psychos, but that is what happens.

They know it.. and all of them have talked about it.. I think it was about 3 or 4 years ago that Anthony talked about the creepy stalker fan who went nuts on him, and that was good radio.

But you know you’ve got those people out there, you have to be somewhat aware you can’t post pictures of average people and say ‘I hope she dies’.. no matter how real it is. You have no control over all your pyscho fans…

I’m not saying anything would happen, but if you are SIRIUS, you’re probably praying to goodness nothing happens.. and as a celebrity like Anthony, no matter how you feel about it, you can’t wish death on someone.. in such a huge public way. I’ve said things somewhat like that in a breakroom at an office ‘Oh, I hate that person”, but it’s a bit different than broadcasting it with photos of the person you are wishing dead on twitter 😉

        • Orrin Cratch July 5th, 2014 at 9:14 pm

“Sirius XM paid him millions of dollars for him to be shocking. For years
they made millions of dollars off this radio personality. Now suddenly,
          they aren’t OK with it?”

Correct. There is a distinct line between agreed-to on-air antics and off-air behavior that violates the behavior/morals clause in Cumia’s contract.

Additionally, the Twitter account Cumia used to hurl the slurs and calls for the woman’s killing were commingled with Sirius XM marketing.

And I don’t believe Cumia. No injuries. No bruises. No contusions. No credibility. His career in mainstream media is done. And that’s good.

      • Linda July 5th, 2014 at 3:05 am

hey, she hit him first, she’s guilty! it doesn’t matter what people say about you. IF you hit someone first .. you’re guilty! Exchanging words is normal, husband and wife, parents and kids, between friends, What is the issue here? The blacks always say something racist toward white and Asian, and they’re ok? Isn’t black racist or not ?

        • tmservo July 5th, 2014 at 3:06 am

And you know she punched him first because…. and there is proof out there that shows this happened.. where?

          • Linda July 5th, 2014 at 3:13 am

Do you think he’s lying ?.. why would he do that? and Sirius has no business whatsoever with someone’s life outside work. Is that ok for black to say something racist toward White and Asian? and not the other way around? hey, people exchange words toward each other, what is the issue here? none ! only stupid people who always think politically correct ! Haven’t you had the experience in your life that people didn’t like you? They would say anything toward you, right? as long as they didn’t attack or kill you .. what is the issue here?

          • tmservo July 5th, 2014 at 3:26 am

His twitter account is promoted by SIRIUSXM and has been on air and is linked from their website. So yes, they care greatly what he puts up in his twitter feed.. this isn’t like some guy in his private time having an exchange in his backyard.

          • Linda August 27th, 2014 at 1:03 am

Well, let’s turn the table now. IF she’s abused by her husband and then she killed him. Do you think she’s guilty? He hit her first, right? She could say .. oh well, it’s self defense ! Do you think she has the rights to kill him? Does the punishment fit the crime?

      • Linda August 27th, 2014 at 1:18 am

yeah, let people die and kill each other about racism. End of story. The White and The Black never get along .. so let them both dead !

  30. Linda July 5th, 2014 at 2:37 am

Women (including me), remember, when you punch or hit someone (man or woman) .. you need to get ready if the person you hit will hit you back! I would do that too, IF anybody man or woman who hit me first and I will respond and hit that person back. 1 to 1. Equal !

    • tmservo July 5th, 2014 at 2:52 am

Does that entitle a celebrity to post your photo to the internet and tell their fans they think you should die by a handgun? http://thinkprogress.org/media/2014/07/04/3456669/opie-and-anthony-host-fired-by-siriusxm-after-this-brutally-racist-tirade-on-twitter/

      • Linda July 5th, 2014 at 3:01 am

well, that’s his rights to say whatever he wants! This is a freedom of speech country .. he didn’t kill her, did he? did he hit her back? no ! so, what is the issue here? She’s the first one who hit him. She should be in jail for hitting someone .. it doesn’t matter what word that person said. IF you hit someone first, you are guilty, man!

        • tmservo July 5th, 2014 at 3:04 am

Just so you know, making public threats in New York is in fact, a crime… and you immediately assume 100% of what he’s saying is true (she punched him first, multiple times) though we have absolutely no proof of that at all.. we don’t even know if it happened. The NY Statute reads as below:

          (a) A person is guilty of a Class 1 misdemeanor if without lawful authority:

          (1) He willfully threatens to physically injure the person or that
          person’s child, sibling, spouse, or dependent or willfully threatens to damage the property of another;

          (2) The threat is communicated to the other person, orally, in writing, or by any other means;

          (3) The threat is made in a manner and under circumstances which would cause a reasonable person to believe that the threat is likely to be carried out;

Now, because #3, the third leg of it is unlikely (means he can say “I had no reason to believe it could happen/would happen” he will not be charged, of course. Still, if you’re a company who is hiring him, do you deal with the problem?

Think about it this way.. a guy comes into your office and starts going off about some incident he has somewhere in town. He then proceeds to hold up the photo of this person in front of his office mates and say “I wish this girl was dead” or “I hope she catches a .45 shell and dies”. Do you, the employer, keep him employed? Even if you think “well, he doesn’t really mean that, it’s not a real threat..” do you as an employer think: “this is the kind of employee I want to keep paying” ?

          • Linda July 5th, 2014 at 3:07 am

yadi yadi yada .. you talk too much! I doubt it when you’re in his shoe .. you would talk like this. You are only theory .. you’re totally non-sense ! You hit someone first, You’re guilty ! That’s the end of story!

          • tmservo July 5th, 2014 at 3:09 am

And you know she hit him first from where? This is accepted fact from who? Just because he said it? So.. you know nothing else but you 100% take his word for it without any physical, video or camera evidence of this ever occurring. Please, don’t be on any juries I know of 🙂

          • Linda July 5th, 2014 at 3:16 am

I think you’re not smart, I can sense that. Why would he lie about the whole story? IF you hit someone first, YOU ARE GUILTY !!

          • Dan July 5th, 2014 at 3:20 am

Where’s the proof? In America, you are innocent until proven guilty. Get your head out of your ass.

          • Linda August 27th, 2014 at 1:13 am

Are you gay? Do you hate women? Can you have a civilized conversation with women? You are not a Man if you’re screaming and yelling to a woman whom you never met. This is an opinion, Why are you so angry? Have you seen the Doctor at the mental hospital lately?

          • tmservo July 5th, 2014 at 3:22 am

Because it makes a better bit to exaggerate it. Have you ever listened to O&A or Stern? Do you really think Stern has done all of the things he talks about, or do you believe every one of O&A’s stories? The thing is, you can’t just accuse people of stuff.. even if it happens, and tell 159k people who are your dedicated followers you think that person should die. Celebrities have crazy people who follow them.. and both Stern & O&A know it.. they have had to deal with some of them on air. So when you start tweeting out photos of someone and saying ‘I hope they catch a bullet’, it’s a little bit different then some guy at the local bar ranting that they don’t like someone

          • Linda August 27th, 2014 at 1:12 am

oh well, let both the Whites and the Blacks fight to each other about Racism until they both dead ! I’d like to give them both guns and hoping that they kill each other .. and it will end the Racism in this country.

Source please, and regardless one bad act does not justify another. Unless you’re 4 years old and talking to your mom.

          • Garrett July 5th, 2014 at 9:20 am

No, if someone hits you, you drop them. Level of force escalation depends on how badly you’ve been hit and whether or not the person hitting you is continuing their assault. Stop the threat THEN call police. Sheesh. People with this attitude are the reason for bogus “Burden of Retreat” laws that basically require you to be a wuss and run away from a threat instead of confronting it with whatever force necessary, up to and including lethal force, in order to secure your safety.

          • Shades July 5th, 2014 at 9:24 am

You’re assuming the person who has been hit CAN drop them. You sound like someone with serious issues. My condolences to your family.

          • Garrett July 5th, 2014 at 9:27 am

You’re certainly free to disagree, but I think the implication of mental health problems is a tad childish. World’s a dangerous place and people are crazy. A good Saturday to you, sir or madame.

          • Shades July 5th, 2014 at 9:36 am

As an ER nurse for 3 decades, I dealt with mental health/violence issues on a nightly basis. If you think my concern is childish, that tells us a lot about you.

          • Carla Akins July 5th, 2014 at 9:44 am

First, let me acknowledge what she did was wrong. Period.. She should be brought up on charges. But excusing the subsequent behavior of the victim is not acceptable either, which is what in discussion here.
Everyone has the right to defend themselves physically – but it’s not the only option nor should it be the first option. I don’t want to live in a society with your mindset. Punching another human being should be a last resort. We (most of us) are highly evolved beings with a number of tools at our disposal to deal with these types of situations before going all Zimmerman on someone. Had he been in serious danger it would have been a different story but it wasn’t.

If your child punches you in the gut because you told him to clean his room, would it be okay for you to punch him back?

          • Immortal July 5th, 2014 at 12:17 pm

That’s a very idealistic world you’re living in, but violence begets violence. You punch me, I punch you back. Cause and effect. I’m not going to say this is right for everyone, but to deny this fact is blind.
If my child punched me in the gut and it wasn’t in play, punching him in the gut isn’t in the cards, but he will know without a doubt he made a serious mistake.
If someone punches you in the face, are you going to turn the other cheek; grab the spray, call the cops; no you’re basic human function to fight back will kick in. It would and will be your first option.

          • Carla Akins July 5th, 2014 at 1:18 pm

A good person, one equipped with actual skills can respond without punching back. It’s called the higher road. Using your brain to defuse a situation and begin a dialogue. There are times you must hit back, but not every time – not even most of the time. This action only degrades you and makes you like the person that hit you

          • Immortal July 5th, 2014 at 1:21 pm

I’m not going to say what you’re saying is wrong; but I will say it’s very idealistic, and leaves one hoping that you could even open a dialogue with an attacker. But to each their own and how it works for them

          • Carla Akins July 5th, 2014 at 10:03 am

So violence is always the first, best response? Get help.

        • craig July 5th, 2014 at 7:50 am

freedom of speech is not free when it incites a riot or causes violence. If you yell, “fire” in a crowded movie theater you will in fact be arrested and charged. You are purely and simply an uneducated stupid woman who doesn’t know the law.

          • Linda August 27th, 2014 at 1:06 am

Well, see, even you yourself “Craig” is creating a riot and violent here by accusing and yelling and calling name to a woman. Are you Gay? Do you hate women? Can you talk in civilized manner? Did your mother teach you manner?

        • Immortal July 5th, 2014 at 11:58 am

So in your mind, if someone was to take a pic of you then caption it with “kill this B*tch, or I want this C*nt murdered and someone did it, that comes under “free speech” and the person who posted it is in no way culpable? This dude has fans/stans and who would take his thoughts literally. He had the chance to press charges and chose not to (he had a pic of the woman, and the location of where it happened), but went and used social media to make an ignorant rant about blacks, but i’ll go father to say it’s more like any minority.

I don’t know if perceived racism was the only thing that got him axed.. he repeatedly in multiple tweets insists that she should be ‘killed’ with a .45 gun, and that if he had a gun he would have done it, etc. etc. etc. He says things like ‘I’d beat a c***’ and so on. He then posts a picture (of course without her permission I’m betting) of the person in question.

Put aside race. A Celebrity can’t start posting pictures of a regular person.. even someone they dislike, and accuse them of things and say ‘I hope they are dead’. Imagine if some celebrity posted a picture of you (no matter your color or theirs) and they had a few hundred thousand twitter fans and said “I really hope she gets shot & killed”

No. Not OK. You don’t know who your fans and loyal followers are. I don’t care what race or color he is, or what race and color she is. Irrelevent. He’s a celebrity with thousands and thousands of followers telling them he thinks someone should die after posting pictures of her. If any celebrity posted my photo and said I should die, I would be creeped out they would have some weirdo fan who would do it (and O&A are that kind of people)..

Sirius had to let him go.. they can’t be associated with that.. and no, that’s not PC… that’s just common sense. Ask yourself, if someone where you work started flashing photos around your office and saying “I hope this b*** catches a .45!” “I hope she gets shot & killed” would you keep that person in a job?

    • Mongocutwood July 5th, 2014 at 8:50 am

Yet if those same celebrities wish death on a 19 yr old Conservative who likes to hunt, or anyone who doesn’t foot step with liberal views, it is ok.

      • tmservo July 5th, 2014 at 9:25 am

I tell you what.. If any left leaning person comes out, tweets a photo of a regular citizen and then says ‘this person should die’ for any reason, I hope they lose their job too.

          • Shades July 5th, 2014 at 9:32 am

I think the question is, what is yours? You brought it up. It is standard procedure for speeches to be made from teleprompters. Trying to use it as an insult is a major fail on your part.

          • Ozone July 5th, 2014 at 9:35 am

It’s not an insult on the president, it is a remark on your hypocritical nature. You stated someone can’t look up something because they need their talking points handed to them. I just pointed out that your own president needs the same thing. It’s an insult towards you, you just couldn’t recognize it.

          • Shades July 5th, 2014 at 9:39 am

No that’s not at all what you meant. That’s the excuse you started tap dancing when busted. Giving a prepared speech from a teleprompter does not at all correlate with taking five seconds to click on a link or google a subject.

          • Ozone July 5th, 2014 at 9:43 am

Tap dancing? That is is exactly what I meant when my very first statement is “Isn’t that a little hypocritical of you…” You, Yourself, El nacho Libre sitting at your computer over there. And it correlates perfectly fine. It wasn’t a speech prepared by the president. They never are.

          • Shades July 5th, 2014 at 9:50 am

Seriously, you’re going with making a speech from a teleprompter is exactly like clicking on a link to read a detailed story? Because you think clicking on a link at your desk is EXACTLY like standing before thousands of people speaking for 30 minutes or more? Sheesh, nobody is asking troll #1 to stand up and give a speech. We simply expect that, if a visitor requires a more detailed report, do a little research before posting a blatantly ignorant comment. He only embarrassed himself and then you come along trying desperately to justify his ignorance with silly analogies about google and teleprompters.

          • Ozone July 5th, 2014 at 9:53 am

This has nothing to do with clicking a link and everything to do with your comment on him needing things handed to him, You didn’t specify “Only needing links handed to him” You made it blatantly obvious that every amount of information needed to be handed to him. So the justification stands. As an aside there is no link. And I believe calling someone a troll is the go to response, when all of your straws have been drawn. Have a good day.

          • Shades July 5th, 2014 at 9:57 am

Google has plenty of links, dear. You just have to know how to get to them. If I have to type every tiny detail like “Only needing links handed to him” in order for you to understand my post, then you’re in far worse shape than I originally thought. Most of us here are capable of critical thinking.

          • Ozone July 5th, 2014 at 10:02 am

I suggest you look up the definition of critical thinking. And yes, you do have to type in details, when you leave it completely open. “That’s too much work for them. They’re used to having their talking points handed to them in handbook form.” That is your statement. You expect someone to infer that you mean they only need one certain facet of information handed to them, when you make a general statement like that? I have a theory you’re arguing this because you forget what you even typed rather than just accept the fact you made a general and unfair comment, and work to correct that in the future.

          • Shades July 5th, 2014 at 10:05 am

OR, I’m used to dealing with a more intelligent LL community than your friend and, in your desperation to justify your google/telepromper comment, you’ve gone to great lengths to twist your original meaning in order to save face. It didn’t work.

          • Ozone July 5th, 2014 at 10:09 am

I never twisted anything. My original comment was that you’re a hypocrite. Plain and simple. I used an example to justify my remark. It was not a Google/teleprompter (note the t? For someone saying they’re more intelligent than me you should at least use the automatic spell check.) remark. It was a remark on someone with your assumed similar ideals using something that was handed to them. Which by your comment, they never do, only people like the person you were mocking do.

          • Shades July 5th, 2014 at 10:21 am

Yeah, and handing a restaurant customer a plate of food is just like using a teleprompter, Got it. Thanks for the laugh. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this. I love it when the guy who suggests he’s finished with the discussion keeps coming back like a puppy in need of more attention. How many posts did you make after you wished me a good day? Let me demonstrate how it’s actually done. I’ve made my point. Good day.

‘Your’ president? Obama is The U.S. President. Which country( or planet) are you from?

          • Ozone July 5th, 2014 at 10:11 am

I am from Malaysia. So he is not my president. I never voted for him, and he holds no power over me.

          • Fred July 5th, 2014 at 9:47 am

Reagan: the last TRUE American president.. Now we have a white hating, america hating commie in office… A com— OOON— E DEE organizer.. Stupid white liberals voted for their own destruction.. way to go morons..

          • Carla Akins July 5th, 2014 at 9:57 am

Right. The President that would not use the word AIDS until millions were dead, raised taxes 7 of the 8 years he was in office, tripled the deficit, who’s policy raised the unemployment rate to damn near 11%, ballooned the size of the federal government, gave amnesty to millions of immigrants, illegally funneled weapons to to Iran which fed into arms to the Nicaraguans, veto’s the anti-Apartheid act, helped create the Taliban and Osama Bin Laden, and called his wife “mommy” ewww. Yes, he was a delight. That’s not even mentioning the fallout fro the war on drugs.

They want to view the rant and claim that the racist people are being victimized.

        • Carla Akins July 5th, 2014 at 1:09 pm

          Of course, they do.

      • Orrin Cratch July 5th, 2014 at 8:58 pm

        • Carla Akins July 6th, 2014 at 12:07 am

they weren’t when I made the suggestion. I’m sure they available somewhere, That’s why we have google.

    • Jonathan Pearson July 5th, 2014 at 8:54 am

You see, that would require too much effort on the part of the liberals. They are claiming something is “racist,” but refuse to back it up.

      • Shades July 5th, 2014 at 9:07 am

Yes, forgive us liberals for assuming you know how to use the internet.

    • Mary July 5th, 2014 at 11:30 am

Why? Do you really just love to have your racism reinforced so you can read it then claim that it wasn’t racist? Go talk to your racist friends and feel superior to everyone else.

      • Destroyer July 5th, 2014 at 1:25 pm

lol, what a joke, the guy was a victim of a hate crime and complained about it and he’s the racist

    • Orrin Cratch July 5th, 2014 at 8:58 pm

The reason the tweets were not posted is that Cumia had deleted them — or so he thought..

The tweets have in fact been recovered and archived to Storify, and I see that Liberaland has added a link above. Cumia proves himself to be no better than your average denizen of Stormfront.org. His career in mainstream broadcasting is over,

      • Destroyer July 5th, 2014 at 10:21 pm

Yeah, any average denizen of Stormfront.org would allow a black woman to viciously attack them without fighting back and then simply take to twitter to, in his vulgar shock jock way, address the issue of violence in the black community, because pretending race has no role in this, especially when she called him out for HIS race during the attack is really silly.

  37. fkumn July 5th, 2014 at 6:11 am

COME ON include the tweet that got him fired .. I figured that would be obvious but instead we get 2 tweets replying to his when we dont even know what his said Alan you ass clown

    • Orrin Cratch July 5th, 2014 at 8:56 pm

The reason the tweets were not posted is that Cumia had deleted them in an attempt to cover up his racist Tourette’s twitterage.
See below to get an idea of what comes up if you try to access them

Republicans have derped this comment thread.

          • Carla Akins July 5th, 2014 at 10:05 am

I’m not even sure they’re Republicans, just individuals that believe facts don’t matter and hate and violence are the first and best response to anything and everything they don’t like.

      • Guest July 5th, 2014 at 8:55 pm

    • Shades July 5th, 2014 at 9:03 am

What exactly is your point? Surely, you’re not presenting the argument that calling this woman a n***** isn’t racist. Maybe you went looking for a place to post a standard beleaguered RW comment and accidentally landed here. Either way, it’s not going well for you.

      • Fred July 5th, 2014 at 9:44 am

Racist? We have AL sharpton STILL as a host at MSNBC.. nuff said…

        • Anomaly 100 July 5th, 2014 at 10:02 am

IKR? And he’s black and has the sheer audacity to host the news while adding his opinion. OMG!

        • colinmincy July 5th, 2014 at 10:35 am

you’re missing the point (by a landslide I might add). MSNBC has the right to employ whoever they choose for their airwaves just as Sirius has the same right. Al Sharpton has not labeled an entire race “animals” or anything of the sort on MSBC since his show has aired, so you’re comparing apples and oranges as Herman Cain might say.

          • Contrarian July 5th, 2014 at 11:18 am

Forgetting all the racist, anti-Semitic, AND homophobic comments he’s made in his career, he is terrible on TV. Almost incoherent.

        • Steve W July 5th, 2014 at 11:00 am

If we shut down MSNBC will you assholes shut down? They set the standard for intolerance.

      • Lord of the Black July 5th, 2014 at 9:48 am

not many people know this, but obongo raped O & A in an alley once after attending a howard stern book signing

  44. Bubba Boyington July 5th, 2014 at 8:34 am

So much for freedom of speech. huh? Lol…WTG Sirius~~Keep trying to be morally relevant

    • Carla Akins July 5th, 2014 at 8:37 am

It was freedom of speech. He spoke his mind and the government did not step in to stop or imprison him. Freedom of speech does not mean that people cannot disagree with what you said or that your employer can’t fire you for being a jackass. It’s taught in a 7th grade civics class – learn it.

    • Sorreah July 5th, 2014 at 8:41 am

you seem confused about something. he has the right to free speech. His employer has the right to terminate relations based on how they feel his speech effects their business model. It wasn’t demanded he take down his comments, he was straight up fired. Before you spout about right violations, perhaps you should look more into basic business ethics and protocol.

      • Mark July 5th, 2014 at 9:31 am

As much as I am sorry Anthony was fired, you’re absolutely correct. He made a decision, and the employer made one too. There are consequences with just about every decision we make. I don’t agree with the termination, but I can also see why Sirius had to distance themselves from him.

    • Lord of the Black July 5th, 2014 at 9:43 am

“free” speech always has a cost

    • bobloblaw July 5th, 2014 at 10:46 am

You’re free to say whatever you want, and express whatever opinions you may have. Your employer is also free to sack your ass when you embarrass them. Unless this is a breach of his contract, SiriusXM has every right to fire him.

    • Immortal July 5th, 2014 at 12:01 pm

I’m sure you sit at work (if you have a job) and blast out emails saying how much your boss sucks and use freedom of speech as your excuse to keep your job. GTFOH

    • cecilia July 6th, 2014 at 6:27 pm

Freedom of Speech doesn’t mean free from Consequences.

  45. Mongocutwood July 5th, 2014 at 8:46 am

    Welcome to the new McCarthyism.

    • SouthernCoyote July 5th, 2014 at 10:18 am

That word does not mean what you think it means. With McCarthyism, the accusation has no evidence or the evidence was collected unfairly/unethically. It basically amounts to being a witch hunt based on slander/libel. But in this case, the accusation is that he’s a racist, and this (very public!) tweet and subsequent tweets ARE the evidence showing him to be an unapologetic racist.

When someone is called out and suffers the consequences for being a racist jackass, that’s not “McCarthyism” by any stretch. He had the right to say what he said, and Sirius, as his employer, had the right to decide that based on his words and actions here, he didn’t represent them in the way they wanted, so they fired him. That’s how employment WORKS.

    • colinmincy July 5th, 2014 at 10:32 am

what? You clearly don’t understand the mechanics of McCarthyism. If you did, you would realize how much this makes absolutely no sense. My advice is to stay within your intellectual lane…the slow lane.

    • Orrin Cratch July 5th, 2014 at 12:36 pm

So true. You, Mongocutwood, are the new Charlie McCarthy, and Opie, Anthony, Glenn Beck’s The Blaze, and corporate news are Edgar Bergen.

  46. fussymussy July 5th, 2014 at 8:55 am

the story is that a pervert with a camera got caught, and the racism is secondary to a Voyeurist and sexist loose on the streets.

  47. Bill July 5th, 2014 at 8:57 am

I’ve been listening to O&A for years – love them, but I always knew Anthony would go too far.

    • David Roche July 5th, 2014 at 9:03 am

Their show makes me laugh, and I am unapologetically liberal. That being said, Cumia is just an alcoholic racist with poor judgment, and I won’t miss him on the air. I do hope his cohosts, and the other crew members, are able to find work, or rebuild the show without him.

      • Bill July 5th, 2014 at 9:07 am

Yep. Anthony is as funny as he is nuts. They talk about this stuff everyday, I don’t know why anyone is surprised. I do admire him for not ‘apologizing’ but free speech will always have consequences.

  48. Jacob July 5th, 2014 at 9:20 am

Gosh… what will Sirius do now without this Stern wannabe making unfunny comments and then laughing at his own brilliance every 10 seconds? And reminding us every 2 minutes of how “wacky” they are? O & A have been nothing but cheap imitations of the King Of All Media from Day 1. Truthfully, I didn’t even realize they were still on the air as you never hear a word about them. Angry rants are funny for about 10 minutes, and then they become boring – and that’s been the premise of this “show” (and I’m being generous calling it that) since the beginning. Let him and his girlfriend Opie go to Podcast, that’s perfect. It will free up space on my Sirius XM radio for actual entertainment.

    • Lord of the Black July 5th, 2014 at 9:42 am

      preach!!!!

  49. Chrisput July 5th, 2014 at 9:24 am

  52. joe July 5th, 2014 at 10:48 am

could someone please point out the racist remakes he made? All i say was the truth……

  53. Dave July 5th, 2014 at 10:57 am

As abhorrent as I think this behavior is, we still live in a country where someone has the right to say these things. I’d rather someone be open about their dislike for another ethnicity than keep it balled up inside.

    • tmservo July 5th, 2014 at 11:33 am

He isn’t facing criminal charges. Free speech isn’t impacted in that (though he came close when he said he wanted her dead after posting a photo of her in his twitter feed to 160k people, which may violate New York’s statute against violent threats and stalking).. but as of now he faces nothing criminal.. but free speech doesn’t mean you can’t be fired. If you worked at McD’s and you yelled out “OUR FOOD SUCKS!” your boss would fire you. He couldn’t have you arrested – free speech – but doesn’t mean you have a right to a job 🙂

      • Debby's July 5th, 2014 at 6:23 pm

It is kind of amazing that this fact needs repeated explanation on this thread. It is also kind of amazing that left wingers have to defend corporations in explaining this fact regarding of freedom of speech. Goes to show

  55. Josh July 5th, 2014 at 11:01 am

Great reporting LIBERALLAND! WHAT DID HE TWEET THAT GOT HIM FIRED?! Boy……..anyone can write something, put it up on a website, and call it reporting!!! What a JOKE!!

    • Orrin Cratch July 5th, 2014 at 8:53 pm

“WHAT DID HE TWEET THAT GOT HIM FIRED?!”

That’s a question, and should end with a question mark alone, not a question mark and exclamation point. And all-capitals makes you seem like you’re shouting like a middle schooler. Grow up.

The reason the tweets were not posted is that Cumia had deleted them. See below to get an idea of what comes up if you try to access them from Twitter.

The tweets have in fact been recovered and archived to Storify, and I see that Liberaland has added a link above. Read them ALL before making a further fool of yourself.

      • Josh July 6th, 2014 at 4:10 pm

Your the “TOOL” Mr. Cratch. Not I. When I read the above article, there was no such link to the Tweets……you twit, so I was unable to read what he tweeted in the twittershpere. Furthermore, when reading other, more reputable “news” reporting agencies, they had no problems quoting exactly what was said. Lastly, the use of capital letters indicates, not only elevated voices in ones comments, gut it can also be used to put high “emphasis” on an important sentence as one might due in a conversation. The question mark comes before the exclamation mark so as yo phrase it first as a question, then as an important, escalated question. Good day twit.

  56. Rafael July 5th, 2014 at 11:03 am

This keeps happening time and time again. Yes, everyone has the right to say what they want in this country, but their employers also have the right to fire those who don’t represent their interest and hire others that do. Nobody is taking away the right for anyone to say what they want, he’s not going to jail for being a racist people. He just lost his job because the company for which he was working decided they weren’t interested in being associated with his opinions

    • sue July 5th, 2014 at 11:33 am

I understand what you’re saying, except that for the better part of a decade, they HAVE been associated with his opinions. He has a long history of saying awful things on the ‘unfiltered’ Sirius/XM. His rant yesterday, is not the worst, by a long shot. It’s the caving in for fear of prolonged repercussion, that keeps happening time and time again. His next move should just be pressing charges on the maniac who pummeled him for no reason.

      • tmservo July 5th, 2014 at 11:35 am

I’ve listened to O&A over the years off an on (mostly when Stern is on vacation, but still).. and yes, they’ve said and done some crazy stuff.. but I’ve never seen them post a photo of a private citizen and then follow it up with tweets that the person should ‘I hope she catches a stray .45’ or ‘I hope she gets shot & dies’ in another post immediately following a photo. Saying things is one thing.. putting up photos of a citizen and telling your fans you want them dead is.. yeah, no

        • sue July 5th, 2014 at 12:04 pm

Still very different from actually physically attacking someone. Repeatedly. For having a camera pointed at her. Sorry. (btw, he removed the photo)
I see comments worse than than on any given day – on youtube, yet! Terrible words? yes. Maniacal and violent actions? no.

          • tmservo July 5th, 2014 at 12:14 pm

I also see comments worse.. but they aren’t being paid for their commentary.. and they aren’t on a company linked account. He did take down the photos because even he knew that was wrong (actually he’s kind of cleaned his whole feed now) but again.. he CLAIMS she attacks him. He also CLAIMS five other African Americans joined her in a scuffle with him.. but he has no bruises, filed no report.. he was on a main thoroughfare in New York and you’re telling me a street fight with 6 other people all beating up on him would leave him with no bruises, no scrapes, and no one would notice and alert the police?

          • sue July 5th, 2014 at 12:22 pm

All I can say is that hopefully we’ll learn the truth at some point, after all the smoke and mirrors is over. No one yet really knows the answers to your questions, except for those involved…Sirius did know who they were hiring, however, and it just doesn’t sit well that he’s being fired at this point. Ah, well, take care. Thanks for responding, tm

          • tmservo July 5th, 2014 at 1:03 pm

Fair enough. Thank you for your reasonable back and forth. It’s good to debate things reasonably and I’m glad to hear another opinion that isn’t laced with profanities or insults 😉

          • sue July 5th, 2014 at 6:29 pm

You’re welcome! It does tend to get ridiculous on many of these threads; you’d think difference of opinion was against the law. 😉

  57. Contrarian July 5th, 2014 at 11:13 am

So, a woman is allowed to assault him, but he’s not allowed to respond..in person, or in print.

    • tmservo July 5th, 2014 at 12:12 pm

He has no proof the assault happened. He claimed that five friends jumped in and he fought them off and got away.. and yet, he has no bruises or injuries. Explain to me how a guy fights off five african american men and a woman (so six people) and ends up with nothing, no scrapes or bruises? Either they were all Urkel or he’s full of s—

Besides that.. you can respond, but you can’t post a photo of a person to all of your fans and say ‘I hope she gets shot & dies’ followed up by another photo and ‘she should catch a stray .45’ That’s different than responding.. that’s alerting nutjobs who follow you that you want someone dead

      • Orrin Cratch July 5th, 2014 at 12:34 pm

Prediction: “Contrarian” adopts your Urkel theory in 3… 2… 1…

    • Orrin Cratch July 5th, 2014 at 12:33 pm

Nobody is “allowed” to assault anyone in the circumstances alleged by Anthony, whom I believe to be a bald-faced, injury-free lying liar. You are stupid at worst and shallow at best to make such a foolish assertion.

      • Contrarian July 7th, 2014 at 10:44 am

Thanks for your intelligent retort! I don’t condone what he said. I also do not condone the way she behaved. She DID behave like an animal. If you want to label that as racist, go ahead. That was not my intent. He was stupid to tweet it; knowing the scrutiny he would receive being a public figure.

    • Cat Blade July 7th, 2014 at 11:39 am

This is poor logic. No, she’s not allowed to assault him. I assume she’s paying the price for it as long as he pressed charges. Assault typically results in 3rd degree assault charges, sometimes minor jail time. It depends on the judge. (Also her gender is irrelevant. As was her race…) All we know are the details surrounding his reaction to the assault. And he could have reacted without turning it into a racist issue. And he is allowed to respond, by the way. He responded, didn’t he? The law did not legally stop him, he was not legally charged with anything in a court of law, and he is not imprisoned for having responded. That is what freedom of speech is. But as far as what a company chooses to do regarding hiring/firing – that’s their freedom and their prerogative.

Edit: If he didn’t want to incur reaction/response from others who hold his job in their hands, then he should not have made his feelings widely public. That was stupid. He could have just blasted the woman in a private diary, or with close/trusted friends.

  58. Cat Blade July 5th, 2014 at 11:58 am

There’s a difference between being upset/talking about your assault vs. using your assault as a free hall pass to publicize racist comments. He’s a celebrity so he should know better. Companies pay money to sponsor products on air alongside his celebrity presence. They want everyone to buy their products – black, white, asian, latino, etc. If I was head of a company, I would definitely not sponsor an ounce of air time on his show. Besides, I assume he works with black people, and I assume some of the companies sponsoring air time are owned and operated by blacks. I’m sure it hit home for those who have power over this moron.

As for “freedom of speech” – all freedom of speech means is that you cannot be imprisoned for saying what you think. This guy has not been imprisoned. Freedom of speech does not mean that other people are going to put up with your bullshit. You can easily get yourself fired, lose friends, and become a social pariah for broadcasting every ugly thought that belly-slinks through your mind…

    • Jeffrey W Brown July 5th, 2014 at 12:06 pm

Very true statement and observations, on both his tirade and definition of freedom of speech.

It’s sad that people claim rights they don’t understand.

why not just say, “man this crazy lady attacked me and all i was doing was taking pictures”? Instead, it’s yet another case of an old, ignorant white dude thinking he’s profound by talking about “deep seeded (sic) violence in the black community”, and rounding it off by calling a woman a “Pig” and an “animal”, making sure to mention her race several times.

    • Bob Martinelli July 5th, 2014 at 4:00 pm

because only blacks can talk about the violence in the black community, right? Next time you’re getting punched in the face, try and not have any mean thoughts about your attacker. You might be labeled something the word police don’t like.

      • talibandan2010 July 5th, 2014 at 8:20 pm

That’s the stupidest thing I’ve read in this thread so far. I’m beginning to believe Martinelli is developmentally delayed.

Oh, excuse me — that was a “politically correct” term.

Allow me to correct myself: I think Bob Moronelli is a fucking tard.

        • Bob Martinelli July 15th, 2014 at 1:50 pm

Wow, you really know how to debate don’t ya? …”Moronelli”. Yes my argument might be stupid, but your attempts at insults are puerile. Don’t think I’ve called anyone a ‘tard’ since middle school. Yeah, you’re the bright one.

          • talibandan2010 July 24th, 2014 at 10:07 am

That was not debate. That was this literary concept called “irony” — a narrative device that seems to elude the reactionary minds of conservatives. like, say, you. To be specific, it was not debate but irony combined with invective and mockery. Go look it up. Tard.

    • cecilia July 6th, 2014 at 6:03 pm

I read cumia’s tweets the day they were posted and every single one was referencing his racist views.
If some wacko assaulted ME in the street it would never occur to me to start thinking about the person’s so called background and what group she might come from…or if EVERYONE she knows acts the exact same way she did.

Like you, I would just wonder about HER and HER problem.

And there seemed to have been a large group of people (on twiiter) who saw through his racism – and he blocked them all…in fact he bragged about blocking them. After a while he just was looking desperately for excuses for his racism…..it’s as if this crazy women attacking him GAVE him the right to respond with racist rants.

      wow, just wow

  60. MystiKasT July 5th, 2014 at 12:37 pm

Blacks are a real problem in this country and the issue needs to be addressed

    • Immortal July 5th, 2014 at 12:38 pm

So state how blacks are a “real” problem in this country and what issues need to be addressed?

      • tdubsap July 5th, 2014 at 12:52 pm

Oh this should be fascinating. *Gets popcorn* Good luck, @disqus_N1hP3byauF:disqus. Oof.

        • Immortal July 5th, 2014 at 12:54 pm

I’m waiting for a monumental catastrophic and earth shattering reply right now. This dude must have the racial secrets of life in his hip pocket.

        • pappysteel July 5th, 2014 at 1:10 pm

But only when white people do or say something.

          • Immortal July 5th, 2014 at 1:12 pm

Has nothing to do with any race at all. You make an ignorant statement, it’s an ignorant statement. Race doesn’t matter.

      • pappysteel July 5th, 2014 at 1:09 pm

Wow really, are you that blind. Go to http://www.fbi.gov/stats-services/crimestats or try http://projects.wsj.com/murderdata/?mg=inert-wsj#view=all

Blacks are the highest % of violent crime in America.

        • Carla Akins July 5th, 2014 at 1:10 pm

That’s a pretty broad brush you have there. All whites must be neo-nazis.

        • Immortal July 5th, 2014 at 1:11 pm

So violent crime reports indicate an entire race is going to commit crime? Or are you using stats to mask your ignorance?

        • Immortal July 5th, 2014 at 1:17 pm

BTW you haven’t addressed anything or proven how blacks are the “real” problem in the US. I await your answer.

    • talibandan2010 July 5th, 2014 at 3:09 pm

If, by blacks, you mean Conrad Black and Stuart Black, you are somewhat correct.

      • Bob Martinelli July 15th, 2014 at 1:47 pm

Ha ha…god you’re the funniest! You should carry a rimshot with you at all times.

    • majii July 5th, 2014 at 9:31 pm

I could say the same thing about whites, but I won’t because I was reared to deal with persons on an individual basis. I’m black, and I know for a fact that I’ve caused no problems in this country, yet, you lump me in with the blacks who have and slap a “real problem” label on me. I could say that because it was white male bankers who wrecked our economy, all white males pose a “real problem” to the country, but I wouldn’t dare make this claim because I’m not stupid.

Imho, only stupid individuals take specific incidents and make vile wide-ranging generalizations about an entire group of persons.

    • cecilia July 6th, 2014 at 5:54 pm

actually the koch bros are the REAL problem in this country!
them and the politicians they have bought and sold

  61. UGADawg09 July 5th, 2014 at 12:48 pm

He was right. Political correctness has gotten out of control.

  62. Ron Jackson July 5th, 2014 at 12:55 pm

How do not not find a cop in the middle of times square ? There are cops everywhere around times square.

    • Phl4W July 5th, 2014 at 1:59 pm

If you take a look at Ron’s other comments, you see the manifestation of reverse racism. You are not better than rednecks sir. Take a second to reflect on your views before trying to sound righteous. Why are black people the highest percentage of violent crimes and murder? Only a small selection of white people think they’re better than other races. But an overwhelming number of black people think they are above the law and anyone. Stats don’t like sir.

**I’m middle eastern before you even try to start***

      • Immortal July 5th, 2014 at 2:15 pm

Looking at his last comment that I saw, he has a point. Five people jumping one and no one saw it? No one called the cops? That doesn’t sound fishy to you? And I’ve been to Times Square and there were cops everywhere because it’s a tourist area. And I quoted that same stat you’re using above, and it proves nothing, and again the numbers weren’t that far apart. I don’t see where you think an overwhelming number of blacks think they are above the law and anyone. Did you get that from the FBI page too? Stats do lie because they are made and have data inputted by humans

        • Phl4W July 5th, 2014 at 2:24 pm

If you’re one of those people that think the FBI stats page is made up. I encourage you to go to any prison anywhere and do it for yourself. There is never a point in arguing with people like you.

          • Immortal July 5th, 2014 at 2:35 pm

What are people like me? Clarify your statement. And why would I go to any prison? I didn’t so anything wrong, didn’t leave anything there and don’t know anyone there of any race… I never said the page was made up, I said that the stats on there and anywhere that has human input isn’t infallible. You didn’t answer how six folks jump one man or in your case six blacks jump one white and no none calls the cops in in NYC’s premiere tourist area.

          • Phl4W July 5th, 2014 at 2:55 pm

You don’t comprehend, you just read. I said exactly what I meant in my statement. Let me highlight it for you, “If you’re one of those people that think the FBI stats page is made up…” “…arguing with people like you.” I’ve read your other wordy comments to everyone else, You’re too obstinate to take any interest in debating with.

          • Immortal July 5th, 2014 at 2:57 pm

            whatever

        • talibandan2010 July 5th, 2014 at 8:17 pm

The are sometimes more damn cops in Times Square than tourists. And, unfortunately for Republicans in general, no more hookers.

I say Cumia is a goddamn liar, a goddamn racist, and a goddamn disgrace to SiriusXM and our nation.

        • SkeeterVT July 6th, 2014 at 1:25 pm

Times Square has been a high-security area with a heavy police presence ever since the 9/11 terrorist attacks in 2001. In addition to the uniformed officers, there are plenty of undercover cops and closed-circuit security cameras all over the square, so I don’t buy Ron Jackson’s story of a five-on-one attack in Times Square that “no one saw.” No way could such an attack go unnoticed.

          • sue July 7th, 2014 at 9:09 pm

No, no way. Not in NYC. -_-

      • majii July 5th, 2014 at 9:22 pm

I must strongly object to this: ” Only a small selection of white people think they’re better than other
races. But an overwhelming number of black people think they are above
        the law and anyone.”

Where is your evidence, Sir? Have you spoken to all black persons in America in order to be able to validate this claim?

I’m black, and I’ve never had a conversation with you in regard to these claims and neither has any other black person I know.

Whenever one makes statements/claims of this sort, one is engaging in extreme scapegoating and stereotyping.

Unless, or until, you speak with every Black American in the U.S., your claim is unsubstantiated, promotes a piece of vile propaganda, and the reason you do it remains your very own secret.

Sir, I would hazard to guess, based on your primary claims, that you possess some bias against Black Americans, and possibly, other groups. Only one who has bias toward a particular group of persons would make such blanket claims which stereotype and scapegoat all members of the group without having met all of them.

        • Phl4W July 5th, 2014 at 9:56 pm

My evidence is the facts; Black Americans lead the imprisonment rate and murder rate. If you are blind to the arrogance of Afro-Americans, it is only because of bias. Your outrageous terms of finding facts is inconsequential, with those parameters, no scientific conclusion could ever be obtained.

          • SkeeterVT July 6th, 2014 at 1:14 pm

African-Americans have the highest incarceration rate in part because our society — and especially our criminal-justice system and the media — is still fixated on negative racial stereotypes about blacks in general and young black males under 30 in paticular; stereotypes dating back nearly half a century to the urban riots of the 1960s.

If anybody is blind, Phl4W, it is YOU — blinded by old racial stereotypes into believing that all African-Americans are violence-prone. Nothing could be further from the truth; it is this persistent negative stereotyping of blacks that is one of the major driving forces — if not the primary one — in the high incarceration rates of (and miscarriages of justice against) African-Americans.

          • Phl4W July 6th, 2014 at 1:28 pm

Bias again. There is no old racial stereotypes. Only new ones. Gone are the days that a black person might marry your white daughter. No, that isn’t the fear. The fear is that a young black male (or femaie) will shoot, stab or steal from you at any random point. Rather than continuing to deny it, African American’s need to work on educating themselves (as a whole) and get out of that majority. Equality would be a great start. If everyone wants to be treated equal, they need to show they can be equals.

          • SkeeterVT July 6th, 2014 at 1:31 pm

“The fear is that a young black male (or femaie) will shoot, stab or steal from you at any random point.”

Newsflash, Phi4W! That “fear” has been around for more than 30 years — an entire generation. There’s nothing “new” about it.

          • Phl4W July 6th, 2014 at 1:35 pm

One demographic of the generation is holding the majority share of violent crimes in America. This information can be derived from any number of sources.

          • Phl4W July 7th, 2014 at 10:33 am

            Nice comment edit, coward.

          • Bob Martinelli July 15th, 2014 at 1:44 pm

Obviously you’ve never been to Chicago.

  63. tmservo July 5th, 2014 at 1:06 pm

Uh, no. EEOE doesn’t mean you can speak without consequences, and never has. If you work for a company and you go out into your lobby and yell “I HATE ALL WOMEN!” or “THIS COMPANY SUCKS” you have full free speech rights, and you won’t be jailed, but I will bet you money you’ll be fired.

That is true of anywhere I have ever worked, ever in my life.

If you take to twitter and you post a picture of someone and say ‘I hope she gets shot & dies’ , then maybe the government won’t come after you, but your company sure as hell can fire you.

Remember the last time this happened? When O&A had a couple have sex in a boston church and Sean Hannity demanded they be fired? (and they were?)

    • Steven M. Johnson July 6th, 2014 at 12:33 pm

OK so you are a left-wing or right-wing nut job who continues to fail in seeing the factual middle. By all means continue to enjoy your slanted news. As I stated before I don’t know who they are and could care even less. Yet your argument is standing in the lobby of your employer and screaming something, you are a tard. Under the provisions set forth for mental health which is fully backed by ALL EEOE, this can absolutely fall back on the company. Now can you see the grander picture? Never compare apples to oranges.

      • justthefactsmam July 6th, 2014 at 12:41 pm

Let me laugh for a bit. Ok, back to reality. In order to get an EEOE judgment that says you were discriminated against on the grounds of a mental disability you have to: first prove that you actually have the mental disability as diagnosed, and second, you have to show that the employer was in some way aware of this.. there are some exceptions to it, but those are the rules. (Source: I’ve had to terminate people for issues of workplace rage and the like)

Some of the responses in these threads are nutty.. but this is crazy. I don’t think this is a right wing or left wing issue at all. Everyone in this thread seems to be making that, but one person points out that employers can fire people and people go crazy.
Or, I guess if Anthony wants to make the case he has a legitimate mental health diagnosis and his employer refused to offer him a chance at recovery.. But I doubt he’s going to do that.

        • Steven M. Johnson July 6th, 2014 at 12:54 pm

Finally, someone who can look at the broader perspective of this whole thing. Seems you know exactly where and how this could play out then. Obviously, the guy can’t keep his mouth shut and has a history of doing just that, at least from what I’ve read, but without clinical diagnosis, it’s all “up in the air” as of this time.

  64. Abel Baker July 5th, 2014 at 1:18 pm

Someone said black women are the Terminatrix!! So is that what they become after they all join together or is that what you get caught up in when you date one!?lol

  67. Bob Martinelli July 5th, 2014 at 3:58 pm

Wow what a slanted piece of ‘news’. Why don’t you show the tweets. He never said blacks were animals, He said this woman who was beating him and the others that were gathering around him were ‘animals’. Last I checked being assaulted could lead you to believe someone was acting animalistic. So now remember folks, if you’re in America, you have to pretend to be someone you are not or the word nazi’s will come looking for you. This is one liberal that is done with being ‘progressive’. Being progressive lost it’s way when it demanded that everyone pretend they have no prejudices, no anger, no real discussions about crime and race. Nope just put up a facade and the blogger nazis will love you.

    • talibandan2010 July 5th, 2014 at 8:13 pm

Wow. What a slanted piece of ‘comment’. Bob Martinelli is too goddamn lazy to find the easily found tweets. He expects everything handed to him, but I’d betcha dollars to doughnuts that he’s regularly whining about the “nanny state”. Martinelli is wrong in that Cumia said particular black individuals were animals. And then Martinelli contradicts himself.

And I haven’t even delved into Martinelli’s sloppy grammar and punctuation. It’s a shame, really, in that i denied Martinelli a chance to accuse me of being a Grammar Nazi®.

      • Bob Martinelli July 15th, 2014 at 1:42 pm

It’s a shame you’ve fallen for the ‘word police’ and their big brother tactics. Keep living in your pretend world where you think you’re a good human being when deep down you know you have prejudices and dark secrets. If it helps to troll on news stories to make yourself feel better have fun. And yes anyone who attacks using fists is an “Animal”. ##@$ their race. You denied me nothing. You don’t exist.

    • Orrin Cratch July 5th, 2014 at 8:50 pm

“Why don’t you show the tweets.”

That’s a question, and should end with a question mark, simpleton.

The reason they were not posted is that Cumia had erased them. They have been recovered and archived, and I see that Liberaland has added a link above. Read them ALL before making a further fool of yourself.

      • Bob Martinelli July 15th, 2014 at 1:39 pm

I have read them all and yes someone attacking you physically is a savage.

      • Bob Martinelli July 15th, 2014 at 1:46 pm

Oh man..got me…I typed a period instead of a question mark. Easy to call someone a fool when you’re not face to face. I doubt you would do well in a debate. But you keep calling out that punctuation thing, tough guy.

Abhorrent, obscene, vile trash talking ignoramus gets fired from his job as a talk show host. Justice is served for the moment.
Lets hope that others who spew forth social media garbage get the boot and that they all find a way to overcome their hate, anger, fear & bigotry. There is no room on a humane planet for this behavior and no excuse will suffice for allowing it to continue.

    • sue July 6th, 2014 at 9:46 pm

Not to mention there’s even less room for violence as a remedy in a situation as benign as someone taking your picture – THAT’S the maniac I’m worried about.

  70. SkeeterVT July 6th, 2014 at 12:36 pm

This isn’t the first time that Anthony Cumia has been kicked off the radio for publicly making an utter jackass of himself. Remember that he and his partner, Gregg “Opie” Hughes, were fired twice before — first from New York’s WNEW-FM in 2002, then from rival WXRK in 2009. This now makes the third firing in 12 years.

Three strikes and you’re out, Anthony. You’ll very likely never work on the air in commercial radio again after your blatantly racist — and misogynistic — Twitter rants.
