Gavin Ellzey, the vice chairman of the Kansas Republican 3rd Congressional District Committee, Tweeted out a message in early July saying that “offending Muslims is the duty of any civilized person.” Ellzey added, “Especially with a .45.”

But he insists he’s “not trying to offend anybody.” He added, “I sure wouldn’t shoot anybody. I don’t even own a gun.”

In an interview with The Kansas City Star, he admitted to writing the tweet in response to television news reports about Christians being “crucified” overseas.

“Sometimes you overreact,” Ellzey said.

And sometimes words matter. A local interfaith leader, Ahsan Latif, saw it as a threat.

KSHB reports:

The Kansas Republican Party Executive Director Clay Barker did send us this statement that reads:

“The Kansas Republican Party has no responsibility for or connection to the public statements of private citizens who perform occasional volunteer work for the Party. The Republican Party in no way shares Mr. Ellzey’s sentiment.”…

Ellzey was the communications director for the Johnson County Republican Party for two years. In 2012, he was asked to step down.

Although all of these positions were strictly volunteer, Latif believes it’s still a bad image to spread for anyone in leadership.

“This is something that is published by a respected member of that community, the GOP, who has found himself in a leadership position and if he is advocating for violence against Muslims, it really, really makes me wonder what could happen,” Latif said.

His Twitter account has since been taken down.

Well, they’re all at the game now, getting all rev’ed up to beat their wives later.

Well, Missouri is a stand your ground state. So Muslim citizens have every legal right to do whatever it takes to defend their homes and families against savages like Gavin Ellzey

Should be easy, he claimed that he doesn’t own a gun!

Hopefully this threat & attempt to encourage Americans to murder a specific group of people who share a common supernatural belief system is being investigated by the appropriate authorities.

The gop needs to learn how to curb their animals. No one who defends the gop label will denounce this threat, its why I find it surprising when they don’t embrace their hateful nature.
Cry like babies when they’re called out for being asssholes.

All you have to do is sub the ‘N’ word to demonstrate the universality of their message.

There’s something wrong with Kansas. That state is evil. Is it any wonder they’re constantly being hit with tornadoes.

    • DaddyO_969 August 8th, 2014 at 12:23 pm

They cannot see that is god’s punishment for being so vile.

It’s been their mantra for some time and it doesn’t look like it’s going to let up any time soon.

Only in Kansas, and only in the GOP, could you say “offending Muslims is the duty of any civilized person.” and in the next breath say, “I’m not trying to offend anybody.”

I feel it’s my duty to put stupid christians in their place, and I don’t need a gun, I’ll just use my brain.

The ‘Christian right’ is the single most disgusting group ever
