Actor/comedian Robin Williams died Monday morning. His publicist says he has been depressed of late. According to NBC News, the Marin County coroner confirmed that the death appears to be a suicide.

While his publicist wouldn’t confirm that it was a suicide, they did issue this statement. “Robin Williams passed away this morning. He has been battling severe depression of late. This is a tragic and sudden loss. The family respectfully asks for their privacy as they grieve during this very difficult time.”

Williams, who won an Oscar for his supporting role in Good Will Hunting, will reprise his role as Theodore Roosevelt in the third installment of Night at the Museum this December. He had recently signed on to reprise his beloved role as Mrs. Doubtfire in a sequel to be directed by Chris Columbus and was last seen opposite Annette Bening in the indie film The Face of Love.

He is irreplaceable. I saw him live in New York and he just improvised an entire two hour show – mesmerizing and totally brilliant. A huge loss – just awful news,

I always thought the world according to garp was one of his best movies.
Its sad Hollywood has to keep this stuff secret until death. There should have been more outreach even to the public who could have helped robin with his disability.

He brought so much light to this world, I wish he realized how much he meant to us, or better yet, I wish there was something that could of saved this great man.

Horrible, horrible news. The loss of this brilliant talent is a grievous loss for we who did not know him, and surely even more devastating to his family, other loved ones and friends. My thoughts and prayers are with them…

A loss of a truly great comedian.

A reminder to all of us that some people who project a sense of happiness and comedy may be struggling with much more melancholy state within.
