A Texas police officer has been fired after using Facebook to call people on public assistance”lazy turds,” and other disparaging remarks. KXXV reports, “Rob Douglas was fired after Marlin PD conducted their internal investigation, according to Marlin PD Chief of Police, Darrell Allen. Allen says they found that Douglas violated the department’s policy.”

Douglass went on a rant calling the needy, “useless turd bags” with “unclean bodies” and mouths “full of bling” whom he encountered on the first of the month in a local grocery store.

While complaining about the poor on shopping day, the officer wrote, “If I ever snap and go on a killing spree, it will be in a supermarket on the first.” Douglas, who admitted to writing the post, was initially put on administrative leave on Monday, then fired on Wednesday for violating the city’s ethics and Internet usage policies,  Allen said.

Allen said he got guidance from the city manager and city attorney, then made the decision to fire Douglas. “This is something we just can’t tolerate,” Allen said. Douglas has been with the Marlin Police Department since 2009.

In the KXXV comment thread, “ComeAtMeBro” wrote in part, “This dude hit the nail right on the head.. I think starvation is a great motivator.” Well Bro, the former officer is suddenly extremely motivated right now and possibly trying to get public assistance himself.

Aside from the nasty racist stereotypes he belched out, that last comment on him snapping is very scary. This is supposed to be a good guy with a gun, right?

    • Anomaly 100 August 11th, 2014 at 10:36 pm

Well now he’s a “lazy turd” on public assistance.

      • tiredoftea August 11th, 2014 at 10:38 pm

Yup! Now, he can get those $4,000 rims he’s been panting after.

By the way, where’s all my free stuff Republicans claimed we got when Obama was elected?

          • tiredoftea August 11th, 2014 at 11:46 pm

IKR? I guess with their attempting to bankrupt the USPS, service is awfully slow.

He probably won’t get it right away. In most states, if you’re terminated for cause, there’s a waiting period before you can collect. In some states it’s six weeks, could be more or less in others.

It’s about time these crazed right wing LEOS start to get fired when the fly off on some brainwashed rant. Cops are supposed to serve and protect all the public, not just the ones they like. As government agents, they need to keep their personal opinions to themselves.

    • whatthe46 August 12th, 2014 at 2:09 am

actually i’m glad they are that stupid to think that they can say what the hell they want without the belief that they will suffer any consequences for it, its the best way to weed them out. if he were to say what he said in private and serious and someone reported it, nothing would happen because he can deny it. isn’t that what most cops do? even when caught on tape commiting what is considered a crime, they get nothing but a 10 day paid vacation. so, let them vent this way. fine by me. the police can’t tell everyone reading that s*** they have lying eyes. try leaving him employed after that s***. they can’t.

  4. Pistol-Packing August 11th, 2014 at 10:33 pm

I can understand his sentiment. But seriously, keep it off your public profile.

    • tiredoftea August 11th, 2014 at 10:37 pm

You should understand the “sentiment” as abhorrent, obscene, frightening and wrong, publicly stated or not.

      • Pistol-Packing August 12th, 2014 at 9:15 am

I am not saying it is correct. And with like everything else in life, Sometimes a few bad eggs, really do ruin it for many. You see it all the time. You have the ones that are truly in need, and you want to make sure they get all the help they can use. And then of course, you have the ones that ruin it for everybody else.

    • Tommy6860 August 11th, 2014 at 11:37 pm

I think the screening for potential law enforcement officers needs to be ramped up. I find it particularly disturbing this man said what he did about “snapping” (by what he stereotyped by the way), yet you can understand that sentiment O.o.

      • whatthe46 August 12th, 2014 at 1:56 am

if you had said something even close to “snapping and shooting” your ass would be arrested period. now don’t be surprised if he actually does snap, because he will blame the recipients of his own failures.

        • MiAtheistGal August 12th, 2014 at 7:01 am

Just like that kid who snapped and killed people because he couldn’t get laid. It was the fault of everyone else that time, too. These people make me sick.

      • Pistol-Packing August 12th, 2014 at 9:16 am

I understand the sentiment about being disgusted about those that abuse the system. As far as him snapping, no call for that what so ever. That in itself is just wrong. PERIOD

    • FieryLocks August 11th, 2014 at 11:45 pm

So you can ‘understand’ his ignorance, hate for the poor, elderly, the disabled, and obviously agree with his use of old worn out, debunked welfare clichés? Says a lot about you.

      • Pistol-Packing August 12th, 2014 at 9:19 am

I think you are reading to much into his statement. There is a “Select” few that totally abuse the system. I hardly doubt he is referring to the elderly, disabled, or the poor.

        • FieryLocks August 12th, 2014 at 10:24 pm

          Yeah…sure.

    • arc99 August 12th, 2014 at 12:21 am

Sorry but I cannot understand the ignorance that demonizes the least fortunate people in our country and says not a word about people and corporations which pocket millions of taxpayer dollars.

Funny how it is called “class warfare” only when poor people fight back.

      • Pistol-Packing August 12th, 2014 at 9:21 am

I believe he is referring to a select few that abuse the system.

        • CMathues August 12th, 2014 at 1:31 pm

What select few? Everybody I know who complains about the “select few” knows somebody, who knows somebody, who knows somebody else who abuses the system. Total bullshit….while the select few cost you 10 cents a day…..the corporate giants are costing you much more, and they ARE sitting on their asses drinking beer all day!

          • Pistol-Packing August 12th, 2014 at 3:28 pm

Ohhhh Please. Corporate this, Corporate that…

          • NativeSonKY August 12th, 2014 at 9:17 pm

How can you deny it? Wal Mart rakes in record-setting profits quarter after quarter while they offload their part time workers to depend on SNAP and WIC. Simply because they refuse to treat workers as anything other than chattel. If corporations would deal fairly with workers many of them wouldn’t depend on assistance. Corporations use the system, and are more capable of using it than the average citizen. I’m tired of the “job creators” meme. Call them what they want to be called – masters in a plutocracy.

    • Larry Schmitt August 12th, 2014 at 8:19 am

In other words, his only mistake was getting caught.

      • Pistol-Packing August 12th, 2014 at 9:22 am

No, his mistake was voicing his opinion in a public manner. You can think whatever you want, but that does not make it right.

  5. Bianca Bradley August 11th, 2014 at 10:45 pm

Highly ignorant. He should know to research better. Snap guves you barely enough to get by.

    • FieryLocks August 11th, 2014 at 11:48 pm

And if he did have any facts about public assistance, he would know that those on it are required by law to have a job. No ‘sitting around and drinking beer’ as he put it. He would also know that you can not by alcohol with EBT cards…it’s one of the many ineligible items.
      http://www.fns.usda.gov/snap/eligible-food-items

    • whatthe46 August 12th, 2014 at 1:53 am

the elderly that receive food stamps are hardly worth the effort of applying. they receive enough for coffee and bread because they get medicare as if that’s hardly enough. pretty sad really.

  6. FieryLocks August 11th, 2014 at 11:19 pm

First off ex-officer Douglas, those on state assistance are required by law to have a job. No one just ‘sits on their lazy ass all month drinking beer’ waiting for a handout. The Welfare Reform Act passed during the Clinton presidency made sure of that. Second, a person can only get assistance for a maximum of five years total, after that you’re on your own. People getting assistance come from all walks of life, from the handicapped, the elderly, to those working one-three jobs but still not making enough to make ends meet. Many military families are on public assistance as well Mr Douglas…are they just sitting around on their lazy asses waiting for your hard earned money? People like you disgust me to no end. The amount taken from each and every one of us toward public assistance is so tiny you have to be a self absorbed, hateful, stingy, greedy, POS to even notice or think about it. Also, I’m so sick of the old, and long debunked Ronald Reagan ‘welfare queens driving in cadillacs’ crap…it really just says a lot about the person still using that imaginary BS…it’s really quite pathetic.

Now Mr. Douglas, go collect you socialist unemployment check that EVERYONE around you will be paying for. You got what you deserved and you’ll probably need that public assistance some day since your hateful ignorance got your butt canned.

    • Anomaly 100 August 11th, 2014 at 11:20 pm

      This ^

      • tiredoftea August 11th, 2014 at 11:49 pm

        Yup!

    • FieryLocks August 11th, 2014 at 11:56 pm

Oh, and something else Mr. Douglas. Those on SNAP can’t buy alcohol, cigarettes, hot foods, or any other ‘luxury’ items. So your little pipe dream of people sitting around drinking beer waiting for a handout is nothing but a load of crap…
      http://www.fns.usda.gov/snap/eligible-food-items

A person making $50,000 a year only pays 10 cents a day toward food stamps. WOW one thin dime a day…OH THE HUMANITY!

        tell that to judge judy.

      • bpollen August 12th, 2014 at 5:27 am

I would much rather that 10 cents go to help the disadvantaged than to give 1 penny in tax cuts or breaks for corporations or for the 1%.

  7. justice4rall August 11th, 2014 at 11:44 pm

I’m sure he is wondering why he can’t repeat what his heroes have said , live on air without getting canned.

  8. Jeff Allen August 12th, 2014 at 1:36 am

“120+ hours last month”….so, not even full time then.

    • Anomaly 100 August 12th, 2014 at 7:52 am

I noticed that, too. I want a 120 hour a month job with benefits.

      • Larry Schmitt August 12th, 2014 at 8:22 am

I think in addition to his other problems, he’s also mathematically challenged.

        • Anomaly 100 August 12th, 2014 at 8:41 am

Poor little man. He can take math lessons while in the line to get public assistance.

  9. mea_mark August 12th, 2014 at 9:20 am

What is really depressing is that so many local rural Texans agree with him. I am ashamed sometimes being a Texan. The people out here in the small communities seem to live in a world of their own making based on delusions. How can people embrace ignorance so willingly and relish living in it?

    • Khary A August 12th, 2014 at 10:35 am

When you find the answer to that question, please let me know.

      • mea_mark August 12th, 2014 at 10:47 am

Definitely, I will let all the world know. It does seem to be a very important question that humanity in general should be asking itself, constantly.

  10. Khary A August 12th, 2014 at 9:36 am

“Looking through the eye of a pig” old school Cypress Hill…totally apt in this case.

  11. Pistol-Packing August 12th, 2014 at 9:49 am

I know this is a very unpopular comment. but the fact of the matter is there are a certain few that totally abuse the system. I am sure this “former” officer is not referring to those who are genuinely in need of assistance, but more to those who are abusive. But then again, what do I know.

    • arc99 August 12th, 2014 at 9:59 am

To reiterate, I have absolutely zero understanding for the ignorant hypocrisy that demonizes poor people but says not a word about the corporations pocketing tax dollars and engaging in unethical or illegal behavior.

Until the people at the top of the economic scale who are abusing tax dollars are taken to task, as far as I am concerned, this ex cop can go f*ck himself using an object with serrated issues.

This is what we should be concerned about before we start attacking poor people.

      http://www.cbsnews.com/news/hey-dyncorp-two-words-about-your-dancing-afghan-boy-problem-damage-control/

US government contractors in Afghanistan were already on notice that “Lord of the Flies” abuses would not be tolerated, following a 2009 report from the Project on Government Oversight documenting “blatant, longstanding violations” including “deviant hazing and humiliation” that posed “a significant threat to the security of the Embassy and its personnel — and thereby to the diplomatic mission in Afghanistan.”

    • NativeSonKY August 12th, 2014 at 9:11 pm

Hey – I can dress up like a nuclear physicist and CLAIM I can create an atomic bomb and that the government pays me NOT to disclose it’s secrets, but ACTING in a VIDEO is not evidence of anything.

The scariest part of his rant is that he is fantasizing going on a killing spree in a supermarket.

    • FieryLocks August 12th, 2014 at 10:27 pm

Yep. That says a ton about what kind of a scumbag this guy is.
