As one who believes in second chances, I could chock Chris Field’s initial Tweet up to a poor choice that was badly timed. The subsequent Tweets? Minnesota’s Republican Party Deputy Chair may very well be the Mike Mulligan of verbal digging.

He hasn’t lost any of the well-developed tact he showed when he suggested that congressional opponent Representative Keith Ellison had a daddy problem. Or, in a separate episode, blamed the death of Trayvon Martin on hip-hop.

His response to a heart-felt tweet about Monday’s announcement of the death of actor Robin Williams is in the same sensitive vein:

Wow! what a piece of garbage. I’ll make sure to mock his passing, cause you know fairness. I imagine though I wont notice it or really anyone will, He deserves nothing less than total obscurity after he’s gone.

    • BanditBasheert August 12th, 2014 at 11:54 am

Who IS he to begin with?

      • Khary A August 12th, 2014 at 12:44 pm

Good Question…perhaps someone will stop doing more interesting things to really find out who this nobody is. I guess this was his way to rocket himself into the limelight. It only figures that hes GOP all the way.

  2. Marcus Shelton August 12th, 2014 at 9:31 am

I swear the mouse wheel that runs republican brains is occupied by a mouse that spends all its time in brain tumor experiments.

    • Glen August 12th, 2014 at 10:03 am

No need to paint ALL republicans with that brush. Acting as though all people within a certain category are as bad as the worst of them is what people like Chris Field do. Don’t stoop to his level.

Mind you, it’s certainly a scarily large proportion of them that your description is applicable to.

      • mea_mark August 12th, 2014 at 10:59 am

I edited his comment to make it more acceptable, just for fun.

  3. linann.singh@yahoo.com August 12th, 2014 at 9:57 am

Hey Asshole!!! You just made millions of people hate you, and we don’t ever know you.

    • BanditBasheert August 12th, 2014 at 11:54 am

It’s a waste of time to hate him. He has no clue. He just loves the sound of his own tweets.

  4. Abby Normal August 12th, 2014 at 9:58 am

The Pseudo-Christians are out in huge numbers today as well condemning Robin Williams as a “godless” drug addict. If those mindless idiots were smart enough to read the bible they profess to follow they would know Jesus’ ministry was about love, acceptance, tolerance, forgiveness, healing the sick and helping the poor. Those people have absolutely nothing in common with Jesus and everything in common with the Taliban and ISIS.

    • Suzanne McFly August 12th, 2014 at 11:47 am

Williams shared laughter these “God fearing Christians” share hate, huge difference and only Williams will be remembered for generations to come, the haters will simply die off.

    • BanditBasheert August 12th, 2014 at 11:53 am

The Christofascists always “use” someone’s death to attempt to prove their point. Especially since Mr. Williams was Jewish.

      • Dwendt44 August 12th, 2014 at 12:45 pm

Williams was not Jewish. He was raised in a christian home, though many considered him an Atheist.

        • reikimama2013 August 15th, 2014 at 12:04 am

Doesn’t matter what “many” (or any, for that matter) considered him to “be”…. does it? It only mattered to him : Robin Williams…

  5. Kino August 12th, 2014 at 10:13 am

Looks like another low level political flunky chasing his fifteen minutes of Internet fame. Sadly, there seems to be more and more of them around these days.

File this under the category of the all-too prevalent, ill-advised utterances known as “Tweets by Twits”.

Moral of the story — People lacking impulse control should not have Twitter accounts.
All too often, they have second thoughts about their foolish online comments and need to follow up with an apology:
“Forgive me Lord, for I know not what I tweet.”

Worse still are those dim-witted folks who are so callous and insensitive that they simply don’t ‘get it’, despite repeated efforts of justifiably outraged people who try to enlighten them.

    • Suzanne McFly August 12th, 2014 at 11:45 am

Just morons who say the most outlandish comments to simply get attention, does not matter if it is negative or positive, any and all attention is what these types seek.

  7. raincheck1956 August 12th, 2014 at 11:12 am

I hope he gets a HUGE backlash for that…. when it’s his turn to go….. he will go out with a whimper… missed by only a handful of people. On the other hand millions of people are saddened by Robin Williams’ passing… he made millions of people laugh..lifting their spirit…. I can’t help but think there are people out there right now, trying to figure out how to turn this into a “political thing”… what a shame

    • mea_mark August 12th, 2014 at 11:26 am

His depression may have been a result of politics in America and how it is destroying the worlds environment. Williams was extremely bright and saw the world for it really is, a suicidal mess. Not that I am trying to make it political but it may very well be connected to politics. Now using it for political advantage so soon, that is definitely wrong.

      • Suzanne McFly August 12th, 2014 at 11:44 am

I thought similar to this, Williams seemed to be very sensitive and was deeply affected by negativity. He was a giver, always lit up the room with laughter even though he was in a deep fog. He was always thinking, his mind never stopped and that could of been a curse. I believe his torment is over and now he can rest.

I love Steve Martin’s quote. He was such a mensch! Wonderful.

          • Suzanne McFly August 12th, 2014 at 11:57 am

Another of my favorite comedians, great men!!!

        • ChrisVosburg August 12th, 2014 at 12:43 pm

I put it this way: Robin was too fucking smart and perceptive for his own good, to our benefit, and it inevitably killed him.

      • raincheck1956 August 12th, 2014 at 11:44 am

“His depression may have been a result of politics in America and how it
is destroying the worlds environment. Williams was extremely bright and
saw the world for it really is, a suicidal mess” That was one of my first thoughts… (after the shock) and to be honest, I struggle with that myself… EDIT: I always appreciate your comments… thanks

      • BanditBasheert August 12th, 2014 at 11:51 am

I totally agree with your thoughts. It is sad to lose a man who through his humor, could have made such a difference possibly on the issues he cared about so deeply.

      • Candide Thirtythree August 13th, 2014 at 4:09 am

That is NOT how mental illness works!!! Please do not go around trivializing something that kills millions of people every year and makes li8fe miserable for millions more.

        • mea_mark August 13th, 2014 at 9:19 am

          It does in some cases.

  8. keepntch August 12th, 2014 at 11:34 am

What is even more disgusting and irritating is the fact that communications have boiled down to this nonsense. Is there any reason to believe that people in the spotlight or on twitter know how to write a complete sentence anymore? Is it any wonder there is so little sense in what the media reports, when it communicates in twits with twits?

It was a clever invention, twitter, however I don’t think it will serve the culture now or in the future to make it the end all of communications.

  9. cvryder2000 August 12th, 2014 at 11:39 am

Chris Fields don’t know from “Minnesota nice,” that’s for sure, you betcha!

  10. R J August 12th, 2014 at 12:23 pm

All black right wingers are a disgrace to the black community. They hate themselves and so they help to push the white nationalist agenda for faux news and the tea party white pride movement.

    • R.J. Carter August 12th, 2014 at 1:59 pm

“All black right wingers are a disgrace to the black community.”

Like all those black looters who torched black-owned businesses in Ferguson aren’t?

      • Esteban Rey August 12th, 2014 at 2:27 pm

Are the cops who shoot black teenagers a disgrace to the white community?

        • R.J. Carter August 12th, 2014 at 4:44 pm

Cops who shoot unarmed teenagers are a disgrace.

I can say that without any colors applied.

          • Esteban Rey August 15th, 2014 at 1:59 am

So it is only looters to whom you need to apply color labels?

    • Esteban Rey August 12th, 2014 at 2:28 pm

All white right wingers are a disgrace to the white community as well. So we can simplify this. Right wingers are a disgrace.

  11. Denise August 12th, 2014 at 12:31 pm

Well, many people don’t know him, either, so when he passes, we can all do the conga, and sing Belafonte’s Day O while drinking rum and just having a grand ole time, celebrating Fields demise.
