An Ohio-based radio talk show host was arrested and charged with shooting his wife on Tuesday. Just hours before his arrest he told police the incident was an accident, ABC 5 reports.

Police said 36-year-old Blake Seylhouwer, a host on 55KRC Radio “THE Talk Station in Cincinnati,” waited until his wife Misty Seylhouwer turned her back before he purposely fired a shot in her direction in their driveway at around 2:40 p.m. on Tuesday.

Madeira Police Chief Frank Maupin said the bullet ricocheted off the ground and struck his wife in the head, leg, stomach and neck.

Initially authorities treated the shooting incident as an accident and did not charge Blake. Later on investigators determined an argument took place between the couple before the shooting.

After the gun fired, Black told a 911 dispatcher, “I shot my wife accidentally.”

“She came out of the car and I accidentally hit her,” Blake continued to say while Misty is heard yelling for help in the background.

The suspect then told the dispatcher his wife is, “bleeding from her head.”

“She can talk,” he said.

He later is heard shouting,, “I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.”

The 911 dispatcher instructed Blake to put a clean cloth on his wife’s head and apply pressure.

According to what Blake said,  the couple’s children, a 3-year-old and 1-year-old, were at a neighbor’s home at the time of the shooting.

Blake told the dispatcher that he was removing his .30-06 rifle from a vehicle’s trunk when it fired, according to ABC 5.

Blake’s wife was taken to a local hospital and her injuries are listed as not life-threatening.

The victim has since filed for a protection order against her husband.

Blake was charged on Tuesday evening with felonious assault and domestic violence.

This guy is local to me. It was also reported that in 2005, he was busted for public indecency charges in Columbus, Ohio in 2005; he pleaded guilty. I am glad this woman and mother survived the shooting. I think if this happened as she was leaving him, charges of domestic violence should be added to this as well.

911 dispatcher: ‘So the gun went off in the vehicle and you shot your wife?’

‘No I pointed the gun at her as “she came out of the car” and then I shot her!’

If this was a legitimate accident the first thing he would have said was directions for how the ambulance should to get to his house. Instead, he spends 35 seconds explaining why it was an accident and why he’s innocent when his wife is lying on the ground with a bullet wound to the head. Guilty pos and bad liar to boot.

That’s quite a ricochet to hit her in the head, leg, stomach and neck. Sounds like she was in a pin ball machine!

there is a series of Remington 700 rifles that tend to fire accidentally.
Usually it’s when the ‘safety’ is turned on/off.
