[su_right_ad]Matthew Moore, an openly gay California man, is suing a doctor who diagnosed his “homosexual behavior ” as a “chronic problem.”

…he was shocked to see his sexual orientation still described as a chronic condition more than a year after he complained about the use of the archaic medical classification.

“It was infuriating. It was painful,” he said of his decision to sue. “It was another attempt by this doctor and this medical group to impose their agenda of discrimination and hate onto a gay patient.”…

The diagnosis was coded as 302.0, an archaic classification from The International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (commonly known as the ICD). Code 302.0 “homosexual behavior” was removed from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) in 1973.

Well, the Torrance Memorial Physician Network apologized and said they don’t consider being gay a disease.

Moore said he let the issue go, thinking the problem had been solved. But when he obtained a copy of his medical records in May, he said he was stunned to see that while the 302.0 code had been removed, “homosexual behavior” was still listed under “chronic problems.”

Perhaps Michele Bachmann’s husband can help?

You mean the Josef Mengele of “Pray The Gay Straight” indoctrination clinics.

Well, “Dr.” Magnus Bachmann doesn’t kill people as did Mengele. And as to indoctrination in reality his “indoctrination” is about as effective as witchcraft incantations.

Being on the wrong side of history often means using archaic terms to justify your own prejudice. Just ask the people who still protest interracial marriage.

Or, the police forces in Ferguson, Staten Island and LA!

You mean, according to a recent poll, around 80% of the white citizens of Mississippi. (Alabama ain’t no better, folks.)

What’s the code for chronic heterosexuality?

    • Veri1138 August 14th, 2014 at 1:19 am

Me. I love women. I’m the code 😉 They are the best thing to happen to Man. Of course, if I were a chronic homosexual, I’d be saying the same thing, but replacing the word “women” with “men”. Maybe that is why I’m a lesbian in a man’s body – which would make me completely gay. Of course, I’ve never felt the urge to have an operation to change my physical self.

I’m pure lesbian. Pure gay. In a man’s body.

Humour. We have to have humour. 🙂

Quiet, you’ll make the good doctor’s head spin.

I’m not going to Thailand for the operation 😛 LOL.

I wonder how he billed the insurance company?

He tried to use code 666. The claim was rejected.

I’m wondering if this doctor’s medical bag contains the usual chicken claw, eye of newt, amulet, cloak of invisibility, toe of frog and the one thing no self respecting witch doctor would be without, his magic ring.

    • Larry Schmitt August 14th, 2014 at 6:57 am

And leeches. A modern physician won’t get far without leeches.

  7. mmaynard119 August 14th, 2014 at 6:39 pm

This doctor has confused two social issues: using chronic and being gay. The two aren’t directly correlated.

  8. liberalMD August 15th, 2014 at 8:03 am

This may be a problem with the doctor’s “electronic medical record”; most will make you say some pretty stupid things unless you take extraordinary efforts to amend/clarify/append what the algorithms force you to say.

When you realize that Republican congressmen Scott DesJardais, Jack Kingston, Paul Broun, Sen. Rand Paul and several more like them have medical doctorates (!!!) this story does not surprise me.
