A New Jersey man has been arrested after investigators say he carved a swastika into a neighbor’s lawn. 45-year-old Scott F. Cooney of Lakewood, is charged with Bias Intimidation, Harassment and Criminal Mischief, according to CBS Philly.

The victims say Cooney had been victimizing them for several months. They told investigators that Cooney had verbally harassed and threatened them on several occasions.

The victims told police on August 10th that they witnessed Cooney on their front yard using what appeared to be a lead pipe to carve something into their lawn.

Rather than confronting the suspect, the victims stayed inside their home.

When Cooney left their front yard, they went outside and found that he had carved a swastika into the lawn.

The victims took a photo of the swastika and immediately contacted the police.

Cooney was arrested Wednesday and bail has been set at $25,000.

Thanks for the tip. It is interesting. More than half the population are Orthodox Jews, and Lakewood is home to one of the world’s largest yeshivas.

Despite that, or because of it, you get neo-Nazi malcontents.

I am not trying to ‘justify’ this guys actions ( I know you didn’t imply that) but I just found the towns make-up to be interesting.

There’s no justification for bigotry of any kind.
