    That reflects the general carelessness about historical accuracy on that show.

    I admit I am pretty much tuned out of contemporary popular culture. I found myself asking, what the heck is Downton Abbey. The last serialized fiction I really got engrossed in was “Deadwood” where the dialog was like Shakespeare set in the old west, and “Rome” a few years ago on HBO. Really enjoyed Rome, especially the portrayal of Marc Antony as a violent, morally degenerate military genius. I still watch it using the on demand feature from time to time.

    Never was much of a Seinfeld fan either

    I guess Downton Abbey is another pop culture icon that I will otherwise remain clueless about.
