Missouri Governor Jay Nixon has signed an order for the National Guard to come to Ferguson.

“Tonight, a day of hope, prayers, and peaceful protests was marred by the violent criminal acts of an organized and growing number of individuals, many from outside the community and state, whose actions are putting the residents and businesses of Ferguson at risk,” Nixon said in a statement.[su_center_ad]

“These violent acts are a disservice to the family of Michael Brown and his memory, and to the people of this community who yearn for justice to be served, and to feel safe in their own homes.”

The executive order comes after police used tear gas to clear protesters off the streets of the St. Louis suburb, action that police say was necessary because of shooting, looting and vandalism.

“When we saw violent acts … We had to act to protect lives and property,” Missouri State Highway Patrol Captain Ron Johnson said at an early-morning news conference.

The situation “took a very different turn after dark,” Johnson said, deteriorating at 8:25 p.m. with a civilian shooting. Protesters fired at police and threw Molotov cocktails, he said.

Enough is enough… Before anybody else gets hurt. you want to protest, please feel free. But the looting, vandalism, and rioting has lost all sympathy for the family of this boy. And having the father walking around with a t-shirt “No Justice – No Peace” will only further deteriorate any sympathy.

How many peoples businesses, jobs, and property has been lost because of these actions?

    • NW10 August 18th, 2014 at 8:22 am

But the looting, vandalism, and rioting has lost all sympathy for the family of this boy.

Most of the looting, vandalism and rioting are from white anarchist groups from out of the state, and not associated with the protesters supporting the family. Some of these protesters have actually tried to stop the violence from happening.

And speak for yourself, Re: sympathy for the family. The preliminary autopsy report has been released, showing he was shot six times, including twice in the head. That’s an execution, and I can’t imagine the pain his parents are going through at this point. All they want is to see that crooked cop Darren Wilson be held accountable, and all that’s been happening is a whole bunch of CYA by his crooked cop friends at the FPD. If the roles had been reversed, there would be no doubt that Brown would be locked up right now and a swift indictment against him.

      • Pistol-Packing August 18th, 2014 at 8:53 am

There was a person on CNN this morning, that was reviewing the initial autopsy. (Cant remember his name) But in regards to the head shots, based upon what he saw, it would have happened as Michael may have been bending over. Possibly from pain from the other wounds.

As you say “EXECUTION”, I dont buy it. And it is clear by your postings, that you have already Judged this officer to be a “Crooked Cop” without any other facts or details.

        • NW10 August 18th, 2014 at 8:56 am

As you say “EXECUTION”, I dont buy it.

What would you call the killing of an unarmed boy from six shots, including two to the head? Murder is putting it lightly.

Ask any officer, especially in New York City. They are trained to fire until a threat is neutralized. Whether or not there was a legitimate threat, remains to be seen.

          • Anomaly 100 August 18th, 2014 at 9:11 am

Seriously, the NYPD? Come on. They kicked a few teeth of mine out once.

          • Pistol-Packing August 18th, 2014 at 9:29 am

I am using NYPD as a point of reference because so many times when a police shooting happens. The police empty their magazines resulting in a mass volume of bullets.

          • R.J. Carter August 18th, 2014 at 9:31 am

            As per training.

          • Pistol-Packing August 18th, 2014 at 9:37 am

I know. They are trained to do so.

          • Michele Mitchell August 18th, 2014 at 10:36 am

Police nationwide need to be retrained and not in Israel.

          • R.J. Carter August 18th, 2014 at 11:57 am

If that training includes how to neutralize an approaching threat with a single bullet, I’m good with that.

          • Michele Mitchell October 29th, 2014 at 1:36 am

yeah as long it is not your unarmed mother or sister or brother or father.

          • Michele Mitchell January 18th, 2015 at 1:38 pm

yes and that bullet can go both ways. just like in oklahoma

            We won’t discuss that here:-)

          • mea_mark August 18th, 2014 at 11:14 am

            That needs to change.

          • R.J. Carter August 18th, 2014 at 11:56 am

What needs to change? Firing until the threat is neutralized?

      • R.J. Carter August 18th, 2014 at 9:53 am

        “white anarchist groups”

I’m confused. Can you please define what a “white anarchist group” is?

        • Anomaly 100 August 18th, 2014 at 12:34 pm

It’s white people acting all anarchy-like

          • R.J. Carter August 18th, 2014 at 2:30 pm

            Ah. That’s what I thought.

Ferguson should put better lighting on their streets. The looters I saw didn’t look like that at all.

    • Anomaly 100 August 18th, 2014 at 8:50 am

I watched the live stream last night and the night before. Last night, a cop stuck a gun in the camera operator’s face and threatened him. Chris Hayes was threatened with tear gas. There’s an area where the press are to remain or face arrest for breaking curfew themselves. This is not the America I know.

I want the violence to stop, too. Please relay that to the Ferguson police department because they’ve instigated this entire scenario.

      • Pistol-Packing August 18th, 2014 at 8:56 am

When the protests turns violent each night. What do you want them to do. Ask everybody to sit down in a big circle and sing Kumbaya ??

Obviously you have a very fluid and dangerous situation, and neither side is helping matters.

        • NW10 August 18th, 2014 at 8:59 am

When the protests turns violent each night. What do you want them to do.

That is what is called a straw man. No one here is saying the police should take it lying down. But how is it justifiable that the Officer Wilson demonstrators have nothing but police on bikes policing them, but the Brown protesters have the Ferguson military force on them?

          neither side is helping matters.

One side is protesting unarmed with their hands up, the other side is exacerbating things, and there’s a third party from out of state taking advantage of this mess by being violent and looting.

          • Pistol-Packing August 18th, 2014 at 9:13 am

The only thing I have seen about the demonstrators for Officer wilson, was about 125 people, 12 miles away. Daylight, and from what I have seen on social media, there was not a whole lot of threatened violence. I also admit, i have not seen a whole lot. so I will look further into it.

          • R.J. Carter August 18th, 2014 at 9:52 am

When the Wilson protesters start throwing bricks and molotov cocktails at the police, the bicycles will be replaced.

          • Anomaly 100 August 18th, 2014 at 10:07 am

As if bicycles are not dangerous weapons. Need I remind you of how one destroyed my face when I first arrived in Virginia?

        • Anomaly 100 August 18th, 2014 at 9:10 am

I was chatting with my Conservative brother about this. He’s disheartened about the shooting but he really detests the militarization of the police force who he believes is escalating the violence.

He believes that both sides need to come together on this issue. If someone targeted his daughter (she’s black), I would turn into a bitch on wheels. I can’t promise I’d be civilized about it.

When looters targeted stores, protesters blocked the entrance and stood guard while the police were busy putting on their gas masks.

          • Pistol-Packing August 18th, 2014 at 9:27 am

Militarisation of the police is a long standing argument for both sides. In so many cases, there is a major disconnect between law enforcement and civilians. if you investigate what happened up in Boston right after the bombing. Sadly, it is very apparent.

          • Anomaly 100 August 18th, 2014 at 10:06 am

            Agreed. Boston is another example.

          • Robert M. Snyder August 18th, 2014 at 12:27 pm

I am also uncomfortable with the increasing use of military style technology by local police departments. One factor that may be fueling this trend is that employers are increasingly expected to provide a safe workplace for their employees. Suppose a police chief is offered high-tech body armor, rifles, and armored personal carriers, and they decline to accept them or decline to use them every time that officers are at elevated risk. If an “unprotected” officer is harmed or killed, they or the police union could accuse the police chief or the municipal leaders of failing to provide a safe working environment for the officers. Different police chiefs will make different decisions about what is appropriate. But those who provide their officers with the least amount of protection are probably at the greatest risk of civil and/or criminal lawsuits for negligence. So it’s not surprising that the trend has been toward increasing use of this technology.

        • mea_mark August 18th, 2014 at 11:17 am

I want them to arrest Darren Wilson. Is that too much to ask?

          • Pistol-Packing August 18th, 2014 at 11:25 am

yes, it is. Until there is an official release of findings of wrong doing. And Criminal charges are filed.

  2. NW10 August 18th, 2014 at 8:24 am

From what I’ve gathered, various Tweets and all, a majority of these violent looters are a part of white anarchist groups not associated with the Michael Brown protesters. It’s shameful that these idiots are doing their best to take advantage of the execution of a black kid in Missouri. All of this would at least subside with an indictment of Officer Darren Wilson and his prompt arrest, and that isn’t happening because the FPD care more about keeping one of theirs clean as opposed to protecting and serving.

  3. R.J. Carter August 18th, 2014 at 10:27 am

I like how the top photo protester is establishing his geek cred for the camera.

    • Pistol-Packing August 18th, 2014 at 10:36 am

it looks like he is taking a “Selfie” while standing out there.. What is i his other hand?

      • R.J. Carter August 18th, 2014 at 11:55 am

He’s filming, but I can’t tell in what direction.

        • Pistol-Packing August 18th, 2014 at 12:23 pm

          neither can I.

  4. mea_mark August 18th, 2014 at 11:26 am

Calling in the National Guard isn’t going to help a lot unless they have Darren Wilson in jail. Justice is not being served and that is what is aggravating the situation. Arrest Darren Wilson or things are going to keep getting worse and will start to spread. It is time to look at things objectively and act accordingly. Trying to force a situation to be a certain way is not going to work. It is what it is. It is time to see the obvious and do what is right.

    • Pistol-Packing August 18th, 2014 at 11:34 am

under what context are you going to arrest him and throw him in jail?
