Iowa Republican U.S. Senate candidate Joni Ernst is “flattered” to be compared to Sarah Palin.

“Well, I am flattered because she is a strong leader. I am a strong independent leader. I am a strong female independent leader. And I do believe they use that as a distraction. Rather than focus on me, they’re focusing on someone else. She is the kind of politician I admire because she speaks what’s on her mind.”

Ernst is running against Democrat Bruce Braley for the seat being vacated by Tom Harken.

Mr. Braley has criticized Ms. Ernst for opposing a minimum wage increase, threatening Social Security, and wobbling on support for the Renewable Fuel Standard that helps Iowa corn farmers by requiring use of ethanol in gasoline. Ms. Ernst, who is also an Iraq War veteran, has emphasized her raised-on-a-farm “Iowa values,” commitment to spending cuts, and opposition to an Obama agenda Mr. Braley has supported.

Ernst previously has referred to President Obama as “a dictator” who may have to face “removal from office.” She also echoed the Glenn Beck-promoted conspiracy that the UN’s Agenda 21 is a plot to take property rights away from Americans.

The Glenn Beck/Alex Jones conspiracy loons are running for the U.S. Senate. This is how the GOP broadens their base.

There’s only one big difference between Palin and this wannabe .. Palin never castrated a hog.

    • MarcoZandrini August 23rd, 2014 at 10:06 am

      Tell her husband that!

  5. Budda August 23rd, 2014 at 10:03 am

She is so dense she doesn’t even know when she is being insulted! Amazing.

Does this mean that if elected, she will quit halfway into her term?

    • MarcoZandrini August 23rd, 2014 at 10:06 am

      We can only hope!

      • neworleans878 August 23rd, 2014 at 1:44 pm

No…let’s hope she quits half way through her campaign.

        • mea_mark August 23rd, 2014 at 2:13 pm

That should be any now. Time for some juicy skeletons to jump out of her closet. Who’s got the dirt?

    • neworleans878 August 23rd, 2014 at 1:11 pm

We can safely assume that she reads all of the magazines and periodicals with great appreciation for the press.

She probably lacks foreign policy experience, since her state isn’t next to a foreign nation and Putin doesn’t fly over it, but can she see Illinois from her porch?

Seriously, what is it about the R.W. and love of morons?

      • jasperjava August 24th, 2014 at 10:00 am

It’s identity politics. Morons voting for morons.

Flattered to be compared to Todd Palins talking blow up doll.
    Epic self esteem failure.

    • alpacadaddy August 23rd, 2014 at 1:41 pm

Considering Palin’s penchant for nonsensical ‘word-salad’, I would say she already suffers from chronic diarrhea of the mouth!

      • William August 23rd, 2014 at 1:56 pm

It’s like a game of scrabble exploded inside her head.

But nothing was left except q’s and x’s.

  8. dave-dr-gonzo August 23rd, 2014 at 10:48 am

Darn right, Jodi! Palin’s such an influential leader that her endorsement just led two candidates in her home state to ignominious defeat!

  9. Foundryman August 23rd, 2014 at 11:14 am

Strong Leader??? What has she done other than quit and lose?

    • M D Reese August 23rd, 2014 at 12:17 pm

Well, she’s helped others lose, and that’s something!

  10. Dwendt44 August 23rd, 2014 at 11:18 am

    It wasn’t a compliment, Joni.

  11. Denise August 23rd, 2014 at 11:18 am

Leading a group of clowns does not make one a strong leader. If she is such a strong leader, why are the candidates she supported losing? And besides leading the clown car, what else is she leading?

    • DaddyO_969 August 23rd, 2014 at 1:20 pm

But, but…they’re really really strong clowns.

  12. M D Reese August 23rd, 2014 at 12:16 pm

Sarah Palin is a strong leader? Who knew? I did know that she speaks her mind, such as it is…

  13. Dcbos August 23rd, 2014 at 12:43 pm

comment just confirms she is like palin

  14. Herb Sarge Phelps August 23rd, 2014 at 1:15 pm

Does this mean she would also quit half way through her term? I am sure the voters would appreciate that.

  15. tiredoftea August 23rd, 2014 at 1:36 pm

Earth to Joni, Earth to Joni; You left your brain here, please come back and get it.

  16. lovesabq August 23rd, 2014 at 2:05 pm

If she wants to be helped by an endorsement from the half-term half-wit from Alaska, she needs to move to one of the Confederate states and run for Senate there.

  17. lovesabq August 23rd, 2014 at 2:06 pm

OK, who is Joni Ernst’s opponent in this election? I’m going to send a contribution to his/her campaign.

    • mmaynard119 August 24th, 2014 at 9:27 am

See the article. It is a very good liberal/progressive Congressman, Bruce Braley.

  18. r_dale August 23rd, 2014 at 3:11 pm

So if she wins, will she quit halfway like her heroine did?

  19. Larry Schmitt August 23rd, 2014 at 6:38 pm

She’s setting a very low bar for herself. I see a limbo world record in her future.

    You Can’t Fix Stupid….

  21. VALERIE MARTIN August 26th, 2014 at 4:58 pm

If she thinks being compared to
Sarah Palin is a compliment, she
    is clearly unfit for Office.
