Police in Idaho say a 7-year-old boy has been shot in the head after two unsupervised children were playing with a handgun and it discharged.

Deputies responded at about 7 a.m. on Saturday to the Midtown Mobile Park in Hayden, according to Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office.

[su_center_ad]The Associated Press reports that police say the boy was struck by a small caliber bullet.

The boy was  transported to Kootenai Health in Coeur d’Alene and then transferred to Sacred Heart Medical Center and Children’s Hospital in Spokane, Washington, where he was listed in critical condition.

The sheriff’s office didn’t release details about which child was holding the gun when it fired, or the name of the gun owner and/or parents who allowed them to have access to a loaded firearm.

A gun owner can purchase a trigger lock for under ten dollars and some sheriff’s offices give them away free in order to prevent “accidental” shootings. But those options are only useful if you want your children to live.

It’s getting really hard to come up with pithy comments on these gun incidents involving children. If gun owners want to off themselves without taking others with them, I’m all for it. As for adults who allow children access to guns–they should lose their right to own firearms FOREVER. Jail time would be nice too.

In the military, while in the barracks, we are required to lock up our firearms in an arms room. And we are the biggest beat cop in the world operating and getting shot at a hell of a whole lot more than the civvies. If it is good for the military, something similar is good for civilian gun owners.

Yes–the military is the ultimate example of the well-regulated militia that is necessary for a free state. Ammosexuals wandering around in Walmart stores draped in assault-style weapons pretending to be customers is the ultimate example of self-serving asshattery.

In the old days, when The Founding Fathers were around, a standing army was considered dangerous. Hence, militias and the requirement – in some places – for white males to have rifles. In case a call-up to defend the nation was needed. Mostly for internal rebellion such as The Whiskey Rebellion. The Constitution calls for Congress to re-authorize the military every two years. Back then, it would provide funding for the militias composed of drafted men and volunteers who would show up, already armed.

Since The War of 1812, when the Brits unceremoniously sacked Washington, D.C., a corp of professional military men would be maintained to whip the militia into shape.

As the world developed, such a corp became inadequate. Since 1939, especially. Sure, it was nice when we had six months to draft men (and women, now) into the military to meet threats. We no longer have that luxury, especially when neo-cons running Obama’s (and future President’s) foreign policy that calls for constant conflict to maintain a war economy that has existed since 1945 – out of the fear of a repeat of The Great Depression and the amount of violence that occurred in the form of social unrest (hard to find documentation on something gov’t doesn’t want you to know).

Cartoons where actually run in theatres to keep the public occupied. A little known fact.

When The Soviet Union disappeared, the system of the war economy, broke. Completely.

Think about it this way: The US is without a partner in The USSR, to maintain world peace such as it was. Ever here about Europe causing any problems and WWIII after The US and The USSR forced a peace? Even that partnership frayed under the politicians who came after those who made the deal. Each side attempted to cheat during those years.

As such, The US is a country without a mission. Over 20 million vets, many of them from The Cold War, waxing nostalgic. Run by people mythologized by The Cold War – which was mostly a farce perpetrated to maintain a world peace – with an MIC that continues to behave as if there is The Big Enemy.

We could have brought Russia into the fold after 1992. Instead, The Cold Warriors were still in charge and formulated an economic plan, Shock Therapy, that was designed and implemented, that almost finished off Russia. If it weren’t for Putin.

As such, we have an entire generation raised on The Cold War, in a country that has been economically devastated by Wall Street, running around with guns and blaming anyone but themselves for our current predicament. They failed to adapt. And that enemy they are looking for can either be domestic – The Left destroyed us with their Commie policies and Obama is a secret Muslim-Atheist-Socialist-Commie from Kenya – or an external threat; such as Russia or China.

Hence, ammosexuals. Lamenting a greatness that almost was; that they let slip through their grasp. Carrying around weapons, ready to shoot at even imaginary threats. They remember an America that was, wasted and hollowed out by the very leaders in business and politics, that they put there. Ready to lash out.

          It’s one reason why.
