A video was released by Mohave Sheriffs officials showing that moment just before a 9-year-old girl accidentally shot a gun instructor in the head at a shooting range.

39-year-old Charles Vacca died after being shot in the head with a 9 mm Uzi by the girl.

Girl

[su_center_ad]Vacca instructs the girl on how to properly stand while shooting the weapon. She fires a single-shot, then he congratulates her.

Vacca is seen in the video adjusting the gun and saying,”Alright, full auto.”

According to authorities, the girl pulled the trigger and the recoil send the gun over her head when the gun was in automatic-mode. The video does not show the instructor being shot in the head. It does show what took place just before that moment.

Can’t say the world will miss that instructor. Anyone who would hand a fully-automatic weapon to a nine year-old child is begging for Darwin’s Natural Selection to kick in. But I fear that poor child will be traumatized for life. Her parents must be imbeciles.

I have sympathy for this little girl. bad decisions by her parents and this instructor will haunt her forever. How do you get past that?

OK can we all just agree that children should NOT have automatic weapons?!?! I mean seriously!!

    • M D Reese August 27th, 2014 at 2:47 pm

We can’t even agree on universal background checks and gun registration.

So…….18 to smoke, 16 to operate a motor vehicle, but there’s no age limits on shooting a fully automatic machine gun?

God Damn. Reminds me of the dad getting his 9-year old daughter to fly across America, ending with their deaths because the child flew into a storm.

    Man, parents are f#cked up.

some people are desperate to win a Darwin Award

She’ll be a pariah, not to mention PTSD.

Who in their ‘right’ mind thought this was a great idea? She’s prolly home skooled, so I doubt she has many playmates to scare away.

Outrageous. Who, in their right mind, would send a 9-year-old for shooting lessons? This isn’t the wild west anymore

The parents should be charged with child neglect. This little girl is most likely scarred for life.

        Thank you my sentiments exactly.

      • M D Reese August 27th, 2014 at 2:46 pm

With any luck she’ll tear up the lifetime NRA membership that was no doubt given to her for her birthday and never pick up a gun again.

I mean I let me daughter shoot all the time and she is only 4. However, I am there and we aren’t shooting fully automatic weapons either. The only moronic thing done here was to allow someone so young to try and be in control of a device that can get out of control when an expert uses it. I see nothing wrong with allowing the girl to go to the shooting range to learn how to fire a weapon. Were I am from you practically grow up knowing how to do that.

  5. Foundryman August 27th, 2014 at 1:53 pm

Are they seriously calling this a an accident? Was is accidental in handing a 9 year old a loaded uzi? These people are so much more than moronic.

At the very least I think it is time for stricter regulations on those teaching firearms use. There needs to be some national standards that all instructors should meet. If not we will end up with people teaching others how to use firearms the wrong way and we will have more accidents. This is not the news and you can’t just lie because it is a first amendment right, Fox news can if it wants but when it comes to firearms and instruments of death, safety and honesty must come first.

Maybe right after we get universal background checks and gun registration passed through congress.
      HaHaHaHa…if only it were funny.

It’s sad that we have to regulate common sense. It’s even sadder that the condemnation of this event brings the ammophobes out of the woodwork and fuels their perception of a 2nd amendment attack.
Where I live I can legally allow my 2 year old granddaughter to drive my speedboat as long as she is wearing a life jacket, and I am supervising her.
It would be a dumbass thing to do, but it’s still legal.

Which one was the good guy with a gun? Apparently, Uzis don’t kill people, 9 year old do. Let’s see, how many other bullshit NRA bumper stickers are there to prove that guns aren’t the problem?

  9. cecilia August 27th, 2014 at 3:49 pm

those 9 year olds are brutal!

  10. Gerald Lee Bieniek August 27th, 2014 at 4:12 pm

I believe in the right to bear arms, but what parent is going to have a child fire an uzi?

You want to teach your kid to use a firearm? Get them a rifle. Something that if they lose control, they just miss the target.

I had an instructor come to teach my boyscout troop to shoot BB guns and another to teach archery, and another to teach first aid, I took them camping and taught them to lay a campfire and do woodworking and every other thing there was a badge for but one day they decided that a den mother was not good enough and that I could not even chaperone them any more.

They ‘gave’ my troop to some strange man who did not even live in our area and the first thing he did was waltz in and tell them was that he was going to let them shoot REAL guns!

ALL of the boys quit scouting that night! They told their mothers that the guy gave them the creeps and they were not going anywhere with him.

    He was an NRA instructor.

We picked up our meetings the next week with a trip to the State Fair without the boyscout uniforms, not one of those parents tried to make their son go with that guy.

Kids are smarter than people give them credit for, the problem is that stupid people tend to expose their kids to even stupider people and that is when the trouble comes in.

That was 20 years ago and I am still proud of those boys!

  12. ecotoper August 28th, 2014 at 12:29 am

Well NRA trolls … When and how are you going to blame this on Obama ?

  13. liberalMD August 28th, 2014 at 1:40 am

I suspect this incident will be so traumatic for the 9-year-old girl that she will never pick up a gun again the rest of her life.

What is it going to take to convince the gun advocates that there needs to be some restrictions on who is able to own and shoot a gun?

  14. Lizzy August 29th, 2014 at 2:22 pm

Yeah if this is real whose videotaping this?
Why isn’t the instructor holding the powerful gun to help her shoot?
Someone needs to be held accountable!
