A workman nearly fell to his death after a 10-year-old child cut the ropes on his harness because of the noise the worker was making interrupted his TV show – a cartoon. Liu Mai was using a drill on the side of the apartment building earlier this week in Guizhou, China 80ft off the ground when 10-year-old Tang Chu took a knife to his ropes, almost causing his death, Metro reports.

[su_center_ad]10-year-old Tang Chu thought the worker was too noisy while he was watching his TV show, so naturally, he cut the worker’s safety harness.

“I was using an electric drill to fit security lights to the outside of the building when I felt my safety rope shaking. I looked up to see what was wrong,” he said.

‘Then I saw the boy cutting the rope with a knife. I shouted at him to stop but he didn’t listen and soon after, the rope was broken. I was petrified,” Mai added.

Liu Mai  said, “.I thought I was sure to fall, but the boy just stood and watched me.”

Mai was left dangling more than 80ft above the ground with just a single fixed rope to cling to.

After hearing his screams for help, another worker,  Zhang Pan, called in firemen, who winched terrified Liu up to the 11th floor.

According to Metro, a fire service spokesman said, “This could have had fatal consequences. The boy didn’t think about his actions. The worker was left dangling and was holding on for dear life. Luckily we were able to save the man and winch him onto a balcony to safety.”

“The boy clearly thought his cartoons were more important than someone’s life.” He said that the builders were too loud and it was distracting him as he tried to watch his favourite cartoons.

The boy’s father said, “He just didn’t think. We also gave him a good talking too and explained what he did was very dangerous. He has promised he will not do something similar again. I think we may also need to take him for some anger management therapy.”

Anger management? Have they ever seen the movie The Bad Seed?

Tang Peng’s father  said the boy has apologized and the family brought Liu Mai a new rope.

“He has promised he will not do something similar again,” he said.

I’m ordering a gross of upclicks from Amazon to be sent your way.

I love how in a few (early episodes?) their capes drapes over their backs as gravity works to the left. In most of the scenes, they have wires supporting the capes so they appear to hanging “down”. The Green Lantern & Kato cameo was my favorite.

I would think that the worker would be entitled to a tad more compensation than a new rope.

The therapy bill alone will be outrageous. My balls are trying to snuggle up to my lower intestine just imagining being in that situation.

      • Tommy6860 August 30th, 2014 at 1:20 pm

How about this for making raisins out of your balls? This is a picture I took of Yosemite Falls as it goes over the edge, looking down almost 2500ft. I walked out onto and stood on a pine tree that grew horizontally out over the edge. 😛

        • crc3 August 30th, 2014 at 1:29 pm

It takes some big balls to do what you did. No way I would!

          • Tommy6860 August 30th, 2014 at 1:32 pm

My best friend was screaming at me when I was taking those shots too. I wouldn’t do that today as I freak-out now over heights. That picture was taken over 30yrs ago.

            Dang kids…….lol

          • raincheck August 31st, 2014 at 9:08 am

Maybe he screamed because, you couldn’t hear the cracking sound of the pine tree, through the sound of the up-draft blowing in your ears.. lol THAT took a lot of nerve!! Glad your still here to tell the tale… Cheers

I’m just going to go ahead and add that pic to my Hey’-ull No list.

Would you please STOP leaning over the edge!!! I’m trying to relax and do some reading….

Yep, that’s about the part in the movie “Cliffhanger” where my scrotum condenses to leather.

        • R.J. Carter August 30th, 2014 at 2:20 pm

Been on that (for all of three seconds). If it had done that while I was on it, there’d be a crack and a puddle.

        • Larry Schmitt August 30th, 2014 at 2:23 pm

So the deck didn’t crack at all, just the coating. One of the commenters mentioned click bait, and that’s exactly what the story was.

          • William August 30th, 2014 at 3:21 pm

Yeah, but still. I spent the majority of my military service sitting behind a P-3 Orion aircraft windshield. The structural layer (inner layer) was about an inch thick. The outside layer was a thin glass coating, and the inner layer likewise. One would need to determine which layer was cracked to ascertain if it was an inflight emergency. I suspect the flooring of that skyscraper cube was a similar material..Still, it really, REALLY gets your attention when it cracks.

Were you directing that at R.J. ? Or the link? lol (kidding)

  3. edmeyer_able August 30th, 2014 at 1:07 pm

Wondering when they’ll go to stainless steel cables? What do give to a guy who(m)? your son just tried to kill…IDK

    • M D Reese August 30th, 2014 at 6:07 pm

In this country, workers will probably just start packing heat…

  4. CF Gourmet & Gifts August 30th, 2014 at 2:06 pm

Seriously a talking too – the kids needed his backside lit up – but I’m sure “talkin” to discipline is what led to this in the first place – kids running amuck – lord save us from the next generation

  5. Larry Schmitt August 30th, 2014 at 2:20 pm

The best part was “they bought Liu Mai a new rope.”

    • Foundryman August 30th, 2014 at 2:56 pm

yes, that was nice of them. That would surely stop New York lawyers from suing them if it happened here..

    • Billy Farmer August 30th, 2014 at 3:36 pm

we so sorry you almost died cause of our bad boy, here you go, NEW ROPE, ALL IS BETTER NOW . LMFAO

  6. majii August 30th, 2014 at 4:44 pm

This kid is lucky. If I had done something like this, my parents would have done something more than just talk to me—I wouldn’t have been going anywhere, except to school and church, for a very long time, and I could have forgotten about having any friends come over.

    • vinrod September 1st, 2014 at 6:05 pm

Same here. My dad would have tanned my ass everyday for a week. Wow. Interrupted his favorite cartoon, so, hey i’ll just cut the rope and get rid of this dude. Wow.

Are you familiar with the “Little Emperor Syndrome”? Not unlike affluenza.

“by the time they’re 10, their parents often still perform basic tasks
for them: fixing their hair, tying their shoes, wiping their bottoms.”

What the hell did I just read?

  8. M D Reese August 30th, 2014 at 6:05 pm

Let’s hope that they took away his TV privileges at the very least…

  9. juicyfruityyy August 31st, 2014 at 3:38 am

The little lad, would be doing chores, after school and on weekends. To re-pay for the cost of that rope and his therapy.

    • Larry Schmitt August 31st, 2014 at 11:59 am

Kids like that don’t do chores.

  10. BarbL August 31st, 2014 at 10:01 am

The TV should be gone for a very long time. Don’t sound like very best of parents…..more a ‘friend’ and not parents.

  11. Shannan Lamb- Parker September 2nd, 2014 at 11:27 am

They ‘Talked to him’? Obviously this kid needs his hind end whipped!
