A Washington conservative group has vowed to boycott Labor Day because of the holiday’s association with labor unions. The Freedom Foundation, based in Olympia, will be protesting the holiday by having a “work-in” on Monday. “I can’t think of a problem in society that can’t be traced in some way back to the abuses of organized…

Oh, the rest of the country is soooo hurt! They’re working on Labor Day, oh the humanity!

    Y A W N!

    • Tommy6860 August 31st, 2014 at 9:27 pm

And they’ll suck up to their CEO betters, by turning down premium pay or time and a half for working the holiday.

      • Anomaly 100 August 31st, 2014 at 9:51 pm

While they’re working (in between blogging), I’ll be going next door because my neighbor Ms. Glory is grilling hot dogs and hamburgers. I should send these guys pictures of the delicious food before I gobble it up.

And what are your plans tomorrow?

Same thing we do every night Pinky. Try and take over the world!

          • tiredoftea August 31st, 2014 at 11:04 pm

            Total world domination!

          • Anomaly 100 August 31st, 2014 at 11:14 pm

            You’re so world domination-y.

          • Eric Trommater August 31st, 2014 at 11:17 pm

We couldn’t do any worse than the bums running it now!

  2. tiredoftea August 31st, 2014 at 9:18 pm

So, they are demanding that their kids leave school and get full time jobs? Because unions were instrumental in ending child labor, just sayin’.

    • Betsy September 1st, 2014 at 2:06 am

Not THEIR kids, and not immediately full time jobs (as if there are enough available for all the children to work too)…but the kids of poorer families. There have been articles about certain politicians suggesting children who(se parents) can’t afford lunch and other school fees should clean toilets or do other jobs around the school to earn the money.

Margarita’s, margarita’s with salt on the rim!

Every Labor Day I make up a drink I created and call the Karl Marx. It’s 1 part Schnapps (for Germany where he was born), a shot of Cider Gin (for England where he is buried), half a shot of American whisky and half a shot of vodka (for the places his idea half took hold), a squirt of Akevitt (for the Norwegians) and a half shot of dry vermouth (which has no political significance but makes it taste 100% better plus reduces the gassy effects).

        • tiredoftea August 31st, 2014 at 10:50 pm

Whoa! Maybe you need to take these guys up on working tomorrow. You have waaayyyy tooooo much time on your hands! Although, Anomaly is sending plane tickets to you right now!

          • Eric Trommater August 31st, 2014 at 10:56 pm

Last I heard she had a driver’s licence and we only lived about three hours apart so if she wants one she can get it herself, or mix it at home. All the ingredients are at the ABC store in those little airline bottles.

          • tiredoftea August 31st, 2014 at 10:58 pm

Maybe she can make a pretend plane trip with all the bottles lined up on the snack tray.

          • Eric Trommater August 31st, 2014 at 11:00 pm

Sadly they don’t serve liquor on instate flights anymore. IKR? When did this become Crowellian England? They actually laugh at you out loud if you ask for a drink, even in first class . . . not that I know from experience.

And yet none of these right Wingers are willing to work for pay below the minimum wage

Sorry but you may have me mixed up with some right winger, because I have nothing but hate for all right wingers.

        • Eric Trommater August 31st, 2014 at 11:37 pm

Yes I knew you were being sarcastic bit I still couldn’t help myself. I also know there are other ways of falling asleep without passing out drunk (not from experience). J/K. 😉 – I used italics!

  5. juicyfruityyy August 31st, 2014 at 9:43 pm

May I recommend the over-time special? Without over-time pay? They would love this.

  6. Foundryman August 31st, 2014 at 10:01 pm

I hope to see the day come real soon, all these unions the right wing hate, decide enough is enough and and have a national strike. We’ll see all these little lying conservatives cry like hell when they start to lose their money by the hour.

    • William August 31st, 2014 at 10:44 pm

When one considers what happened with Market basket, Americans may yet again begin to understand the power of labor.

      • Eric Trommater August 31st, 2014 at 10:48 pm

ALEC has an app for that.

      • rg9rts September 1st, 2014 at 10:05 am

        And the patrons

    • Eric Trommater August 31st, 2014 at 10:48 pm

Until the Government decides to pull a Margret Thatcher on them and nationalized their industries and confiscates their property. Once money became in speech in this country the idea of any common resistance became dead.

  7. William August 31st, 2014 at 10:14 pm

It’s like the saying goes. Reagan loved America so much that he created two of them. Anyway things will certainly get better just as soon as that trickle down thingy kicks in.

    • tiredoftea August 31st, 2014 at 10:28 pm

      So, they are all CEO’s?

      • William August 31st, 2014 at 10:31 pm

I’m not sure what you’re asking.

        • tiredoftea August 31st, 2014 at 10:33 pm

If the Freedom Foundation membership is all CEO’s, then your graphic works for them very well.

          • William August 31st, 2014 at 10:38 pm

OK, I get it now. A little slow today. Rich or poor or in between. Here is the thing I think these folks might be missing.
I’ve never known anyone who on their death bed said “gee, I wish I would have worked more”.

          • TFE August 31st, 2014 at 10:43 pm

That reminds me of working as a nurse’s aide many years ago. A man lay dying, deliriously muttering over all the work he wasn’t getting done as his family cringed at his not being aware of them. It was like a double whammy that he died never having spoken of what they meant to him.

Of course this anomaly is the exception that proves the rule.

          • tiredoftea August 31st, 2014 at 10:55 pm

Of course, Don Corleone was only admonishing Sonny for boinking one of the bridesmaids!

      • Eric Trommater August 31st, 2014 at 10:44 pm

Yes they are. Or sons and daughters of CEOs. Anyone else’s opinion isn’t worth reading. Did you see the cost of College on that chart? Who else could afford to go to school?

  8. TFE August 31st, 2014 at 10:20 pm

This reads like an episode of Bad Parody Theater. I wish my cable company – the most despised in America – had a union of programmers who stopped the boss from putting the system on the market before it was ready for prime time.

    • tiredoftea August 31st, 2014 at 10:31 pm

The boss is doing just fine! http://www.aflcio.org/Corporate-Watch/Paywatch-2014#!/search/CMCSA

      • TFE August 31st, 2014 at 10:38 pm

I’m sure they are. They’re the ones who told the programmers to get the product on the market while it was still full of glitches in order to start profiting from it. We customers are just guinea pigs to them.

    Wait. Are they serious?!

The Freedom Foundation, based in Olympia, will be protesting the holiday by having a “work-in” on Monday.

    They’re totally serious. Good grief.

    • tiredoftea August 31st, 2014 at 10:53 pm

Well, their catered BBQ cooks will be working, so that counts, I guess.

  11. rg9rts September 1st, 2014 at 10:01 am

To these clowns any organized response to the abuses of big business in a call to arms..

A perfect example of cutting off your nose to spite your face. Is this “protest” supposed to change someone’s mind?
