Texas Governor Rick Perry quickly deleted a Tweet where he referred to a district attorney as “the most drunk Democrat in Texas.”

A picture of Travis County District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg, modeled after Dos Equis’ “Most Interesting Man in the World” ad campaign, was tweeted from the verified “@GovernorPerry” account on Sunday. “I don’t always drive drunk at 3x the legal blood alcohol limit… …but when I do, I indict Gov. Perry for calling me out about it. I am the most drunk Democrat in Texas,” the tweet read, the Houston Chronicle reported.

The tweet was deleted shortly after, and Perry sent out an apology.

“A tweet just went out from my account that was unauthorized. I do not condone the tweet and I have taken it down,” the follow-up tweet read.[su_sky_ad]

And the Politico comments are all against the DA. It’s amazing the amount of stupid that is out there.

Only if you’re a GOP donor, then you get Perry funding from “the state’s crooked cancer research institute.” Both felony charges come as a result of a long-running power struggle involving Travis County District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg. A Democrat, Lehmberg runs the Public Integrity Unit, which investigates public corruption and is a thorn in the side of some state elected officials. In April 2013, Lehmberg caught a DWI, and Perry’s office tried to muscle her out. It looked improper, especially because Lehmberg was in the middle of an investigation into the state’s crooked cancer research institute. A much more in-depth explanation of the episode can be found here: http://www.texasobserver.org/everything-wanted-know-rick-perrys-new-scandal/

Rick Perry, can’t he get anything right?

  3. Obewon September 1st, 2014 at 10:13 am

Perry speaking publicly failed to recall what his two felony indictments were for! Ricky-Bobby in 2016~ dementia has progressed to ‘what was the first thing?’

Trouble is, nothing really disappears from the internet. Someone is bound to have saved a screen shot, and it will live forever. Always give it a little more thought before you send that tweet or email or facebook post.

But, he was just doing his job when he removed the funding for the department she heads.

Yeah right, Ricky, as if. I truly do not believe anything you say.

Moral of the story — People lacking impulse control should not have Twitter accounts.

All too often, they have second thoughts about their foolish, ill-conceived, denigrating online comments and need to follow up with an apology:
“Forgive me Lord, for I know not what I tweet.”

    • mynameisjohn September 1st, 2014 at 8:32 pm

I agree with your point about people lacking impulse control, but do you really think Mr. “1,2, uhhhh” could come up with this?

I am surprised he didn’t tweet a picture of his old drunk boss by mistake: ‘A picture of Texas Guber George W. Bush, modeled after Dos Equis’ “Most Interesting Man in the World” ad campaign tweeted from the verified “@GovernorPerry” account. “I don’t always drive drunk at 3x the legal blood alcohol limit… …but when I do, I depend Lt Gov. Perry for bailing me out! I am the most drunk Republican in Texas.’

You know, I STILL don’t miss Bush 43. I do like him a lot better as a former president who paints pictures of his dog though.
