He took aim at the Bronx, but this won’t help the Texas senator get the New York vote.

[su_center_ad]

ity pols blasted Texas Sen. Ted Cruz Sunday for taking a swipe at the Bronx in a speech to a conservative group.

Cruz (R-Tex.) invoked the borough’s bad old days, saying he was tired of hearing Yankee pols like Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) “lecture” on immigration.

“Now, I understand that Manhattan is very concerned with their security with the Bronx, but it’s a little bit different on 2,000 miles of the Rio Grande,” he said in a speech Saturday to the group Americans for Prosperity.

City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito, whose district includes part of the Bronx, retorted: “It’s sad that Ted Cruz would use tired and wrong stereotypes about the Bronx to try advance his extreme political agenda.”

Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. called the comments “disgusting.”[su_sky_ad]

The Bronx was the borough with a large population of Puerto Rican immigrants starting in the sixties. Also, Harlem, a bastion of black residents since the thirties is the last northern stop in Manhattan before the Bronx. So, Cruz got two minority groups with one ignorant comment.

I wish we could send Cruz and his father back to Cuba on a leaky innertube.

        • tiredoftea September 1st, 2014 at 7:25 pm

Well, to the Bronx. There are a lot of Cubans there who might like a close up of the Cruz family.

There have always been politicians who campaign against both coasts, and Washington, DC, as if real people only live in the state they represent. I’ve always thought that’s an odd way to try to become the leader of all the people, by dividing the segments against each other. If you want to be governor of Texas, Ted, go for it. But this is no way to become president.

Teddy is simply pointing out that the Bronx is not one of those “pro-America” regions of the nation. I guess local Dems didn’t get the tea-stained memo.

Cruz has had 1,183 days of vacation

Give him time, and Cruz will insult the rest of America.

    • M D Reese September 1st, 2014 at 7:21 pm

He should always let his dad say a few things to the crowd, too.

    • jasperjava September 1st, 2014 at 7:57 pm

      He certainly insults out intelligence.

Of course, that’s way over the heads of the braindead morons who support him.

the Canadian born Cuban IS an insult to America; a national embarrassment to the nation; just another jack mouthed Putin punkster.

Dear Ted Cruz: New York survived 9/11. You do not get to criticize their security concerns.

In spite of his other faults, Rep. Peter King loves himself some NY, so to speak. I remember him blasting some members of Congress who went to a fundraising event in NYC after voting against Sandy Hurricane funding. Rep. King has also expressed his displeasure with Cruz in the past by identifying him as an obstructionist. It wouldn’t surprise me if Rep. King would make another negative response about Cruz’s latest attempt to trash a NY borough.

As a proud lifelong Bronx resident, all I will say is if you have a problem with the Bronx, please feel free to come to the Bronx and express your views to the people of the Bronx, and not hide like a little punk on a talk show

I have no problem with the Bronx. Of course I don’t live there either. I would guess there are far too many Liberals there though. 1 is too many so I might have an issue with the Bronx. Liberals and Muslims have something in common-> Both lie to further their agenda.

is this Kanadian born Kuban Klown really worth responding to? I mean, there’s lots of other more constructive things one might find much more time worthy in this life – staring into a West Texas sunset for one,

Another gangplank Republican. Now that Canada Cruz has his American citizenship he wants to deny others the opportunity.

  12. juicyfruityyy September 1st, 2014 at 11:51 pm

Consider his criticism as a Badge of Honor. Tea-baggers are going to hate.

  13. fahvel September 2nd, 2014 at 4:19 am

one more time – how is this piece of trash eligible to possibly be the president of the usa???? Is it because he’s qualified by his hatred and evil spirit or that the canadian border is more flimsy than the one that makes him cower at the idea of more Cruz’ arriving?

Atta boy Teddy, another example of your brilliant strategy for winning over the voters, keep up the good work. Oh and while you’re at it why not invite your dad to help you along.
