Police in Laredo, Texas (an open carry state) responded to reports of an “armed man” at a local truck stop. Responding officers unloaded more than 80 shots at Jose Walter Garza early Saturday morning – a number family members say is excessive. Investigator Joe E. Baeza, the department spokesman, told the Daily News that officers responded…

Yet another night of state sanctioned vigilantes going about their jobs by purging Texas of all those unwanted brown people.

    • Larry Schmitt September 3rd, 2014 at 12:27 pm

They’ll run out of ammo. That’s a lot of brown people. But it seems they’re doing their damnedest all over this country to get the job done.

      • tiredoftea September 3rd, 2014 at 12:33 pm

Yeah, it’s sad that our police forces assume that shooting someone, for any alleged crime, is the best way to subdue them.

        • Larry Schmitt September 3rd, 2014 at 12:38 pm

Not just shooting them, but shooting them as many times as possible.

          • tiredoftea September 3rd, 2014 at 12:44 pm

Well, it is what the criminally insane do.

          • Larry Schmitt September 3rd, 2014 at 1:02 pm

And the police forces seem to have a large proportion of those. Where else can you play with guns, actually shoot people, and not pay any consequences?

          • tiredoftea September 3rd, 2014 at 1:38 pm

The military, which is where we are getting a large proportion of our police officers.

          • vi September 3rd, 2014 at 4:21 pm

And some, or a lot if, these trigger happy cops on the street now ARE criminally INSANE!

  2. William September 3rd, 2014 at 12:48 pm

    They handcuffed a dead guy.

    • tiredoftea September 3rd, 2014 at 1:38 pm

You just can’t be too careful these days.

    • vi September 3rd, 2014 at 4:20 pm

They are just adding insult to death by firing squad!

  3. Foundryman September 3rd, 2014 at 1:13 pm

Why don’t the police try to wound and taze these guys before killing them? Just opening up and killing some drunk or belligerent guy should be the last resort, not the first. And why the firepower? These same cops could have taken the guy down with a 5 shot .38 snub nose instead of glocks and AR15’s….

    • Larry Schmitt September 3rd, 2014 at 1:36 pm

They’ll tell you they can’t shoot that well, to wound instead of kill. And based on the number of bystanders that are shot, it’s true. Obviously the answer is shoot less, not more. There are whole British departments that don’t fire as many rounds as some US cops do in a year.

      • Foundryman September 3rd, 2014 at 1:40 pm

It won’t be easy to de-militarize the police. That’s a pandoras box that we were tricked by the war on drugs to open.

    • juicyfruityyy September 3rd, 2014 at 2:26 pm

They do it because they can. The system is corrupt.

  4. crc3 September 3rd, 2014 at 1:21 pm

Maybe we should send these kinds of “free firing” cops to fight in the Middle East since they love to shoot weapons so much…

    • Foundryman September 3rd, 2014 at 1:27 pm

Most likely, that’s where they came from.

  5. juicyfruityyy September 3rd, 2014 at 2:19 pm

Sounds, as if, these and other COPS need to be tested and treated for possible PTSD. Especially, if post war. Also, look at whether they have a Psychiatric history, that includes, violent behavior.

There seems to be too many bad instances with cops and people of color. Of course, the propaganda hatred that is being allowed on the air-waves, does not help.

These cops should not have been re-assigned. They should have been fired or suspended from the PD. Until after the investigation.

      Yes.

      All of that… yes.

  6. juicyfruityyy September 3rd, 2014 at 2:21 pm

No determination on whether or not the shooting was excessive has been made, Garza told the News.

You shoot someone 80 times until there is no face. And, you can’t determine if it was excessive?

This is what happens when there are no mental health hospitals. They end up in prison, or the morgue.

  8. fancypants September 3rd, 2014 at 9:00 pm

Laredo tx. its self is no tourist attraction Im not surprised in the least to see this kind of behavior

  9. Anthony Inniss September 4th, 2014 at 9:42 am

Texas isnt an open carry state…

  10. rg9rts September 4th, 2014 at 3:49 pm

Here we go…this is the price you pay for gutting the mentalhealth system…You have FOP rejects imitating a 9 year old with an UZI. instead of having a treatment alternative besides the criminal justice system…OH I AM SORRY WE ARE TALKING TEXAS.
