[su_r_sky_ad]bob-mcdonnell-scrum-cropped-proto-custom_28Word on MSNBC and CNN at 3:06pmEST that former Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell, who sold himself as a corruption fighter, and his wife have been found guilty on multiple charges of bribery and graft.

The NY Times‘ Trip Gabriel reports:

As 11 counts of “guilty” were pronounced on counts of conspiracy, bribery and extortion for Mr. McDonnell, he covered his face with his hands and his head fell nearly to the defense table. His wife, convicted on eight counts, looked straight ahead. There were sobs from the seats behind the couple that included their five adult children.

The McDonnells were indicted on 14 counts of conspiracy, bribery, extortion and related charges stemming from what prosecutors said was a scheme to sell the office of governor, which Mr. McDonnell occupied through January this year, for $177,000 in gifts and cash from a dietary supplements executive.

While other governors around the country have faced corruption charges in recent years, none of the cases unfolded in the national glare like the McDonnell melodrama, largely because the former governor was a rising Republican star, whose unexpected defense was that his picture-perfect marriage was, in fact, Photoshopped.

Mr. McDonnell, who carried his wife over the threshold of the Executive Mansion the day of his inauguration, portrayed her in his testimony as a harridan whose yelling left him “spiritually and mentally exhausted,” and who was so cold that after he sent her an email pleading to save their marriage, she did not reply.

  3. mea_mark September 4th, 2014 at 3:24 pm

I guess Bob McDonnell was even a failure at throwing his wife under the bus, he is guilty.

    • edmeyer_able September 4th, 2014 at 3:26 pm

Actually he threw her under the Ferrari…..

  4. edmeyer_able September 4th, 2014 at 3:25 pm

Maybe Christie will pick him for his cell…. err running mate.

  5. rg9rts September 4th, 2014 at 3:29 pm

Looks like the jury wasn’t as stupid as he thought they were. Typical gopee mistake

  6. Anomaly 100 September 4th, 2014 at 3:30 pm

McDonnell just found out what probing feels like.

        All up in that!

    • liberalMD September 4th, 2014 at 6:52 pm

If he hasn’t already, he’ll certainly find out in the slammer!

      • Anomaly 100 September 4th, 2014 at 7:03 pm

I’ll bet he serves little or no time in prison. Politicians always get away with this sort of thing.

        • edmeyer_able September 4th, 2014 at 7:45 pm

Well Rod Blagojevich is doing time so there’s that.

          • Anomaly 100 September 4th, 2014 at 7:47 pm

That’s true. Thanks for reminding me. That was an awesome day!

Now, you libtards know this was a liberal plot to damage Gov. McDonnell’s political career, and that the jury that convicted him and wife was a liberal jury. What can you expect from libtards? /s/

    • checkered demon September 4th, 2014 at 4:08 pm

I don’t think EX-governor McDonnell needed any help damaging his career. He brought all this upon himself.

  8. NW10 September 4th, 2014 at 3:46 pm

Fox “News” chyrons will read Bob McDonnell (D-VA).

    • Dwendt44 September 4th, 2014 at 4:04 pm

Right now, right wing wackadoodles are digging up a list of Democrats that stepped over the line. They ignore the hypocrisy, the ‘law and order’ mantra, and go for the smear.

    • juicyfruityyy September 4th, 2014 at 5:58 pm

More to the point: Bob McDonnell (D-IL). Have to make it the President’s fault.

  9. Obewon September 4th, 2014 at 3:52 pm

Karma is Trans Vaginal Prober McDonnell to spread cheeks in Prison! The Ex-Guber turned down a plea deal offered that would have exonerated his wife from any prosecution on her 8 guilty counts.

    • juicyfruityyy September 4th, 2014 at 5:52 pm

But he needed someone to take the fall. He was hoping that it would be his wife. Oops!

  10. checkered demon September 4th, 2014 at 4:06 pm

Let’s just start in Congress and go down the list. Alphabetically or according to size, no matter.

      Brilliant idea!

It’ll be interesting to see how long the marriage lasts now. She allowed him to drag her through the mud and it didn’t even work.

  12. neworleans878 September 4th, 2014 at 5:14 pm

How much will we hear about this on R.W. T.V. and radio?

Don’t blink your eyes or let your attention wander not even a second…you’ll miss the extensive coverage!

ps…unless it’s about him being the target of a witch hunt…

    • edmeyer_able September 4th, 2014 at 5:25 pm

They’ll spend the next 2 days talking about Mike Browns past, the “witch hunt” Eric Holder is conducting in Ferguson, Joan Rivers death and why Obama had her killed.

      • neworleans878 September 4th, 2014 at 5:31 pm

You seem ok ed, so I feel I can trust you with a little secret…Joan Rivers had to be killed because she knew too much about BENGHAZI!!!!

        ps RIP Joan.

Now, he can take that trans-vaginal probe with him to prison. To keep himself entertained. Hopefully, his wife will start divorced proceedings. That will keep her occupied.

  14. tiredoftea September 4th, 2014 at 5:59 pm

Exhibit A for right wing family values. Greed, envy, unbridled ambition, thievery, infidelity. It’s all a shiny thing until the wrapping is taken off. Then we get the McDonnell family.

  15. Denise September 4th, 2014 at 6:21 pm

I guess throwing your wife under the bus wasn’t such a good move after all, huh? I hope Perry, Walker, Deal, Grimms, Scott, and the ladies Bachmann and Martinez are quaking in their gucci/jimmy choo shoes!
As a felon, neither can own a gun, and neither can vote in elections! I call that karma.

  16. RK Johnston September 4th, 2014 at 6:30 pm

For the McDonnels’this is not the end…it is only the beginning.
    Funny thing…
looks like “Mr. Clean” and his wife turned out to be dirtier than pigs in a stye!

    The Three Amigos?

  19. Larry Schmitt September 4th, 2014 at 7:48 pm

He was offered a deal to plead guilty to one count, and his wife would face no charges. Wonder if it was his decision, or his lawyers’ advice, to turn it down and go to trial. I’m hearing people call in to the local DC news station, they’re saying this will send a powerful message. BS. Nothing will change. Next time a governor, or any pol, wants to use his influence, he won’t remember this, or Rob Blagojevich, or Marvin Mandel of Maryland, or Edwin Edwards of Louisiana. They were all convicted of various types of corruption, and it didn’t stop the ones who followed them from going after the money. No message at all.

  20. Bunya September 4th, 2014 at 9:24 pm

Transvaginal Bob is headed for prison! This is great news!!!! I never thought he’d be charged. I actually thought he’d get off, like most other republicans.
