Conservative actor Kevin Sorbo was on a right wing radio show to promote the the DVD release of his recent film ‘God’s Not Dead.’ While on Jerry Newcombe’s ‘Vocal Point’ radio program,, Sorbo noted that Mel Gibson has created a lot more opportunities for Christian filmmakers in Hollywood with the success of his film ‘The Passion of the Christ,’ which made a lot of money despite concerns from Jewish leaders that the film was anti-Semitic, Right Wing Watch reports.

[su_center_ad]”He got attacked when he was shooting ‘The Passion’ from the Jewish community, saying ‘look at the way you’re portraying us,'” Sorbo said. “News bulletin: you did kill Jesus!”

When the radio host explained that the Jews actually just “delivered him over to the Romans,” Sorbo responded that the Jews still “had a hand in it” before noting that, the film went on to earn hundreds of millions of dollars “so Mel sort of had the last laugh, there.”

Right. Mel the anti-semitic racist actor who is finding himself with a lack of acting jobs. That Mel. Gibson is hardly a role model for Christians.

So if it’s just about making money, then that whole God thing is simply theater for him.

“That Mel. Gibson is hardly a role model for Christians.” Good thing that Kevin is stepping up!

  2. Republicans_are_Evil September 5th, 2014 at 7:05 pm

These right wingers hate the Jews just like the Nazis did.

    • Annie September 5th, 2014 at 7:11 pm

Yep. They love Israel but hate the Jews. Just like they love the military but hate the veterans. They have no shame

    • M D Reese September 5th, 2014 at 9:40 pm

The only reason that they are pro-Israel is because they are trying to make armageddon come about so the raptures will take them to heavenb and christ will return and yada yada. Oh–and there’s money to be made.

  3. neworleans878 September 5th, 2014 at 7:07 pm

Sadly, for some Christians, it’s not about who you love as Jesus preached, it’s more about who you hate.

    • M D Reese September 5th, 2014 at 9:38 pm

      And how loud you “pray”…

News Flash – Kevin Sorbo today was bitten by the acting bug. The acting bug immediately died.

My preacher says that Jesus died for our sins, so we are all guilty of killing Jesus.

Thanks Linda…needed a good laugh at the end of a lousy day. 🙂

i wonder with all this hate filled blabbering coming from the “right”, if the republican right wing jews are thinking twice about their party line now.

      You’re done here.

      • neworleans878 September 5th, 2014 at 7:30 pm

Looking through Esteban’s comment history, this one confuses me. Perhaps a snark tag was left out? Or I should spend more time around here because I’m missing something?

Will add that even if snark, it was quite a bit over board.

        • Anomaly 100 September 5th, 2014 at 7:34 pm

You would never say such a thing. There’s a line that should never be crossed. You’ve never come close.

If you said something that Esteban did, then I’d think your account was hacked.

We don’t allow right wingers to leave such comments, so I’m just holding our own to the same standard:-)

Serious question…the e-mail that you gave me months ago…is it still good? Not trying to engage in any douche baggery (sp?), but run across an interesting story once in a while that might be worth your attention.

          • Anomaly 100 September 5th, 2014 at 10:22 pm

Remember that story I mentioned the other day? It involves the ability of a hacker to clone anyone’s account, and then post under any name. I wonder if people have been banned here because someone else said something inappropriate in their name.

          • Anomaly 100 September 5th, 2014 at 8:35 pm

it’s possible but there isn’t much I can do about it. Weren’t you going to submit a story? Did it have to do with that topic?

          • Republicans_are_Evil September 5th, 2014 at 8:35 pm

The more research I did on the story, the less of a story it became.

          • Anomaly 100 September 5th, 2014 at 10:22 pm

            That happens. Next time:-)

My concern is that it may not be an American doing it. I have seen this bot troll pretending to be a liberal and a Wingnut. I suspect it is someone from another country trying to stir the emotions of Americans.

God loves everybody. Too bad you speak in ivoronics so there can’t be any real conversation here. I used to watch Kung Fu about a Buddhist monk. He condemned violence and gave some flowery words but by the end of an episode, he was the one who killed or maimed.

I’m still waiting for them to blame Obama.

    • Chris Evans September 6th, 2014 at 1:47 am

They’ll find a way, surely. Just like a poll in Arkansas showed that most of them blamed Obama for Katrina.

      • Paulita Gilberto September 10th, 2014 at 10:29 pm

Obama wasn’t even a senator yet.

        • Chris Evans September 13th, 2014 at 8:31 pm

That’s the point. Yet, they still think Obama was at fault. Because.. Well, because they hate Obama. That’s the only reason they seem to need.

          • Paulita Gilberto September 14th, 2014 at 6:35 pm

You people. You always project. You are the ones still blaming Bush. History is proving him correct, by the way.

News flash: jesus, as portrayed in the bible, NEVER EXISTED.

    • Ron Luce September 5th, 2014 at 11:13 pm

      How do you know?

      • Chris Evans September 6th, 2014 at 1:46 am

There is absolutely no historical evidence that Yeshua existed, none whatsoever. You can search, but all the results you find will most probably be Christian sites that just love to cover up the truth with propaganda, sorry to say.

        • cecilia September 6th, 2014 at 4:28 pm

well, the important point is that even if the existence of jebus was found to be true, there’s zero verifiable evidence that he was a god.

          • Paulita Gilberto September 14th, 2014 at 6:27 pm

He wasn’t a god. He is God.

          • cecilia September 14th, 2014 at 9:17 pm

you missed the phrase “verifiable evidence”.

without that all you have is a fairy tale

        • Bunya September 6th, 2014 at 6:33 pm

I read somewhere that Jesus was a remake of some pagan god,

The sheep know the voice of the shepherd they follow.

        • Paulita Gilberto September 10th, 2014 at 10:28 pm

The historian Josephus wrote about Jesus and the beliefs of His followers after His resurrection. Islam acknowledges the existence of Jesus as do the Old Testament prophets Read Isaiah 53. We happen to live in the year 2014, the year of our Lord.

          • Chris Evans September 13th, 2014 at 8:24 pm

Well, Josephus was around about 80 years AFTER Jesus had supposedly died on the cross, so that’s not adequate proof. The fact that Islam acknowledges the existence of him also isn’t adequate proof. And “The Year of our Lord” isn’t adequate proof either, as that is merely how they proclaimed the year at the time.

          • Chris Evans September 13th, 2014 at 8:36 pm

In fact, the bible itself was not written until 100 years after Jesus/Yeshua supposedly existed, so of course it became an amalgamation of different messiahs and other Pagan Gods. Like Apolonius of Tyana, who happened to live just a few years before Jesus/Yeshua did, and was actually documented by Romans to have performed miracles – Walked on water, healed the sick, born in a manger, died and was resurrected 3 days later, was known to be a messiah. However, with how meticulously the Romans kept their records (which we do have, and strangely enough it all fits) there is NO mention of any Jesus/Yeshua in those records. So, yeah. There is no actual proof that any figure named Jesus/Yeshua actually ever existed.

          • Paulita Gilberto September 14th, 2014 at 6:33 pm

The Jews kept their writing so well that if they had so much as a misplaced micro-dot of ink on the scroll, they had to start over, that’s why they had so many scribes. When the dead sea scrolls were found, the included book of Isaiah was found to be virtually identical to the Hebrew text in the Torah. Rome fell along with all of their gods and became a Christian nation.

  14. M D Reese September 5th, 2014 at 9:32 pm

News flash–Jesus wasn’t a christian. (that is beside the fact that he’s a supernatural being to begin with.)

  15. Mace September 5th, 2014 at 10:06 pm

Well he turned into Mega Douche quickly.

Perhaps he should stick to potraying imaginary characters like Hercules and that atheist professor from the chalk story?

Reality seems a stretch for him..

    • Paulita Gilberto September 10th, 2014 at 10:25 pm

Just because you don’t believe something, doesn’t make it imaginary. I don’t believe in global warming and apparently I’m right, but some people still think it’s not a hoax.

  16. Robert Merrill Taylor September 5th, 2014 at 10:09 pm

The Romans did execute Jesus although they had no legal authority for doing so, Pontius Pilate was fired as Procurator of Judea for incompetence. This might have been one of the reasons.

  19. cezzwho September 6th, 2014 at 12:32 am

As sinners, we are all responsible for Jesus’ death, but, Jesus Himself said “No man takes My life, I lay it down, willfully.” Even if somebody is responsible, again, Jesus Himself said “Forgive them for they know not what they do.” If God and Jesus can forgive, who are we not to? I think we live in a time when we’re all a bundle of nerves and we forget sometimes in our anger and frustration and even in defense of our friends, like Sorbo is of Mel, that we overlook our friend’s faults but over-see our perceived adversary’s faults. I just pray we can come to some kind of civility because we are not enemies.

    • whatthe46 September 6th, 2014 at 1:04 am

“I just pray we can come to some kind of civility because we are not enemies.” but that would make them wrong, and they don’t want to be wrong. that would mean they disobeyed GOD’S law, and to accept that would mean they are wrong. not gonna happen. unfortunately.

      • Paulita Gilberto September 10th, 2014 at 9:58 pm

We’ve all disobeyed and broken God’s laws. That’s why once a year the Jews have their day of atonement, Catholics have confession and Protestants take communion.

    • Viv Arney September 6th, 2014 at 11:23 am

can we keep the biblical bullsplat to a minimum, please you sound almost as bad as that brain-addled actor. Religion is dying out and it’s about damned time

I believe for too many of these fake Christians. They would say what ever it takes to make a buck. They are hypocrites that lie with the Bible in their hand. They couldn’t tell you one scripture from the Bible.

  25. steph dumais September 6th, 2014 at 12:12 pm

For the sake of discussion, why should christians be angry that Jesus was put to death, wasn’t it part of God’s plan? Wasn’t he supposed to “die for our sins”?

    • Paulita Gilberto September 10th, 2014 at 10:40 pm

He was. When Peter said he wouldn’t allow it to happen, Jesus told him, “Get behind Me, satan,” because this was why Jesus came into the world, to destroy the works of satan and become our Passover lamb to take away the sins of the whole world. But anyone who chooses to keep them, He will let you, for a season. Then he told Peter he would deny Him three times before the rooster crowed.

      • steph dumais September 11th, 2014 at 9:41 am

So in essence, Judas, the persecuting jews and the romans should be considered heroes by christians, for fulfilling the prophecy.

  26. rg9rts September 6th, 2014 at 1:38 pm

News to Sorbo….he was a jew too

  27. Shirleyione September 6th, 2014 at 4:28 pm

The Pharasees and Pilate were the instruments, but the plan was God’s, set in motion by Him, and carried out according to His wishes. Blaming anyone for Jesus’ death is completely wrong.

    • Stanton September 12th, 2014 at 12:52 am

This fact didn’t stop Christians from insulting, tormenting, and killing Jews for their alleged role in Jesus’ death for two thousand years, unfortunately.

      • Shirleyione September 12th, 2014 at 1:53 am

That’s true, even tho Paul, in Romans, specifically said not to think we’re (gentile Christians) better than non-believing Jews, because they are still God’s chosen. If people would just read the Bible….

        • dr_westcoast February 19th, 2015 at 7:21 am

False it does not say that . It says jews must believe in christ if they are to become part fo the tree of israel again.

  28. Sweetpeace September 7th, 2014 at 2:22 pm

I to Kevin Sorbo: News Bulletin: YOU are KILLING Jesus in Iraq, Afghanistan, the Gaza, Hiroshima/Nagasaki, allied bombing in Europe WWII . . . everywhere that the U.S. has either killed or supported killing that results in “collateral damage” to innocents for “our own interests” it’s exactly the same thing that was done to a freedom loving non-violent revolutionary named Jesus over 2000 years ago.

    • Paulita Gilberto September 10th, 2014 at 10:49 pm

War is not a sin. It’s a sin not to fight evil in our time. Unless you wanted to be a Nazi and kill all Jews, gypsies, homosexuals and practicing Christians like Dietrich Bonnhoeffer. And unless you want to SELECTIVELY cut off people’s hands for theft, stone them to death for adultery or fornication, behead people that aren’t a member of your sect, or butcher children and put their heads on a pole, war is necessary. We’ve put this off entirely too long.

  29. Joe September 8th, 2014 at 9:04 am

This is not the time to mock Israel, especially for something that Jesus was sent to do. The Jews are God’s chosen people and those who look out for Israel will be looked out for by God. Jesus knew in the garden what he would face and he chose to trust the Father to become the sacrificial lamb. Nothing in the universe could stop that. I am sick of this argument. God is a great subject for film and literature, and has been for centuries. And, likely will be forever. Jesus was a Jew. The Hebrew root is a part of Christianity. I am a Christian who is tired of division between two religions that worship the same God. Kevin Sobo Is a good man who likely got caught up in the rhetoric of promoting a movie and now the emphasis is on him and not the movie or it’s subject. Neither God, nor Jesus are going away. In fact, they’ll likely make a reprise in this lifetime. So, stop dividing Christian and Jews. It’s like throwing the baby out with the bath water. We are friends and allies and it should stay that way forever. Thank you for reading this far.

    • Stanton September 12th, 2014 at 12:49 am

Would a “good” man describe people protesting a murder caused by systematic police brutality supported and encouraged by a disgustingly corrupt and racist city government as “animals” who could be easily dispersed by job ads?
Would a “good” man need to bring up the blood libel of Jews murdering Jesus, which was used by Christians to justify discrimination, abuse and systematic murder of Jews for two thousand years?
It’s quite obvious that Kevin Sorbo is, at very most, almost as good as a 5 week old egg salad sandwich. Only a naive idiot would assume that a racist bigot is a “good man.”

  30. Harry September 14th, 2014 at 11:04 am

For many centuries, the Jewish people have been subject to expulsions, pogroms, crusader massacres, being restricted to ghettoes, forced conversions, mass murders, and many other terrible persecutions, all because of the accusation that they killed Jesus Christ.

But the terrible irony is that at the same time, Christians believe Jesus absolutely had to be crucified, so that they could be forgiven of their sins and go to the Christian heaven.

Therefore, since Christians believe Jesus had to be crucified for their salvation in the first place, then why do Christians have anti-semitic opinions to hate the Jews for killing Jesus? Instead, shouldn’t Christians gratefully thank the Jews for crucifying Jesus?

Since Christians believe that the crucifixion of of Jesus Christ had to be done, then shouldn’t the term “Christ killer” be a philo-semitic compliment to the Jews, instead being the horrible anti-semitic insult that it is to Jews!?

Incidentally, crucifixion was Roman way of execution, not a Jewish one.

  31. Spada September 21st, 2014 at 8:39 pm

    isn’t he right though?
Aside from that, ONE book made a whole ethnicity (?) detested. I don’t like that idea. I’m sure Mel was portraying what was in the bible. The Jews don’t have to like it, but that’s the “truth” shown. It doesn’t mean that Jews should be seen as horrible subconsciously IN THIS day in age.
