A wrestler attending Minnesota State University is accused of getting another student drunk in his dorm room on Labor Day evening, then raping her while videotaping the incident after inviting other students on his floor to watch the crime.

Angel Mario Vega, 23, of Moorhead was charged on Wednesday with one count of felony third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a helpless victim, and with one count of providing alcohol to someone under 21, a misdemeanor, Inforum reports.

[su_center_ad]According to court documents, police and an ambulance responded to a report of inebriated people at the dorm about 11:15 p.m. Monday on the MSUM campus.

When officers arrived at on the scene, they could smell alcohol and vomit. The officers saw two men and two women in the room, with one of the women lying in bed vomiting into a trashcan. According to Inforum, the other woman was lying on the floor unconscious and partially undressed, and had vomited on herself.

Vega  reportedly saw the police, bent down, then grabbed the woman on the floor and told her to be quiet.

Vega’s roommate reportedly told police he and Vega had invited the two women over for drinks, and they became intoxicated after playing some drinking games which they lost to two men.

According to four other students present, Vega came over and asked them to “see something crazy.” The students saw the victim lying topless on the couch, clearly intoxicated, according to what they told police.

Vega said he was going to take her back to his room and “get laid,” then the students said they witnessed him dragging her back to his room, which is when they called school security.

When police arrived, they discovered several items of women’s clothing in Vega’s room, along with the victim’s student identification card.

A photo of the half-dressed woman on the couch was discovered on Vega’s phone. According to court documents, a video shows Vega forcing the woman to have sex.

Vega allegedly admitted to police that he gave the victim Fireball whiskey, even though he was aware that she was only 18-years-old.

The wrestler denied having sex with the woman and claimed that he only made out with her. In addition, he denied telling other students he was going “to get laid.”

Vega had no explanation as to how the woman’s underwear ended up on his dorm room floor, according to court documents.

Vega claims he did not take the photo or the video of the incident with the women.

After seven hours, the victim could then only recall to police the drinking games, and a vague recollection of being in the ambulance.

The woman’s blood alcohol content registered at 0.235 percent when she arrived at the hospital, according to the authorities.

Vega’s bail was set at $60,000. “He has been suspended from the wrestling team pending the outcome of the legal process and university investigation,” athletic director Doug Peters said on Friday.

That’s exactly what I thought. They called the cops…next step is to stop him as a group…but as you say, baby steps.

He’s an athlete, probably on scholarship. Not really a student at all.

      more or less the parenting.

The only thing to be thankful for in this incredibly disgusting act of depravity is his unbelievable stupidity in documenting it on video.
Unfortunately it will be no comfort for the victim.
btw I posted this story on reddit 2 hours ago as yet there are no comments smh.

From here? If so, thanks for trying, but this domain is banned. Any domain I’m affiliated with goes down. Reddit does it for freedom!

No I saw it on twitter.

        • Anomaly 100 September 6th, 2014 at 10:07 pm

Saw what on Twitter? I’m so confused. Doesn’t matter really:-)

    • whatthe46 September 6th, 2014 at 10:04 pm

actually, its (the video) is a blessing in disguise. w/o it the defense would (even though they still may) lay blame on her and said it was all consensual. but, with her being basically comatose, he’s screwed. parents out there with daughters about to attend college, have a long conversation with them. parents with sons, have a conversation with them as well. the “what if” conversation. the kids that did see what was happening, bless them for doing the right thing. and one more thing, i wouldn’t be surprised if others came out to tell of an experience with this rapist.

I expect as much (or that little) of Reddit. I avoid that site like the plague as it is a hotbed of right wing internuts (not misspelled) privilege.

      • edmeyer_able September 6th, 2014 at 10:20 pm

I was interested in the fly fishing forum at first, but every now and then I’ll try to bust a few gun nuts just for giggles.

        • Tommy6860 September 6th, 2014 at 10:22 pm

Well think of the site’s namesake, it’s fitting REDdit. Maybe we should create one called Blueit 😛

  7. Tommy6860 September 6th, 2014 at 10:18 pm

While this asshole should do some serious time, he also needs to be counseled on the fact that women are not objects of use to their screwed up whims. Poor girl is scarred for life 🙁

  8. MIAtheistGal September 7th, 2014 at 8:44 am

His parents must be so proud.

Now, the kids who called police? Good kids, whose parents really should be proud.

    • Larry Schmitt September 7th, 2014 at 8:47 am

But not quite good enough kids to actually intervene personally. If he actually said what they claimed he said, they should have stopped him from dragging her to the bedroom, then she wouldn’t have been raped.

      • MIAtheistGal September 7th, 2014 at 10:46 am

Let’s not blame the people who didn’t do anything wrong, please. The blame lies at the rapist’s feet and no one else’s. Not the girl and certainly not the folks who called the police.

        • Larry Schmitt September 7th, 2014 at 11:12 am

You’re right, the rapist is 100% to blame, but the others could have done more.

          • MIAtheistGal September 7th, 2014 at 12:08 pm

Well, yes, we can all do more to make the world better.

          • Larry Schmitt September 7th, 2014 at 12:21 pm

And we shouldn’t settle for the minimum.

          • whatthe46 September 7th, 2014 at 6:27 pm

            you’re both right.

          • Alex Ruffini September 8th, 2014 at 12:44 am

Not disagreeing with anyone, but you have take into account that he is a college wrestler. I’ve personally wrestled with college level wresters and they are no joke. The kids who called police probably just thought it was safer to get help rather than doing anything that could lead to violence, but I’m just speculating. I
agree that we should’t settle for the minimum.

  9. labman57 September 7th, 2014 at 3:25 pm

    Not possible.
George Will told the nation that all of the discussions regarding campus rape amounted to little more than liberal alarmists making much to do about nothing.

  10. burqa September 7th, 2014 at 8:23 pm

If he did it as described, one hopes he’ll be doing his future wrestling as a guest of the state….
