Woman Smiles For Mugshot After Admitting To Killing Her Young Children
Authorities in Maryland say a woman suffocated her two kids, 1 and 3 years old, and then told a relative about what she had done. The children died at the hospital. Over the weekend, Prince George’s County police accused 24-year-old Sonya Katarina Spoon of suffocating 1-year-old Ayden Spoon and 3-year-old Kayla Thompson.
[su_center_ad]Police say they discovered plastic bags near both of the kids when they arrived on the scene, according to WGHP.
Police say Spoon gave them a detailed statement on how the children died.
She is charged with two counts of first degree murder and is being held without bail pending a court appearance, according to authorities.
Her mother Paivi Spoon said her daughter has been dealing with a stressful custody issue and has been “under extreme psychological and mental distress.”
According to WJLA, police officers had escorted Sonya Spoon to a medical facility for a psychiatric evaluation about a week ago.
