[su_right_ad]When Joan Rivers went for a routine endoscopy August 28 a doctor noticed “something” on her vocal chords. Another doctor who arrived with her entourage offered to perform a biopsy which, according to the New York Daily News, caused her air supply to be cut off.

Such a procedure is not supposed to be performed outside of a hospital, according to medical experts.

The Aug. 28 biopsy at Yorkville Endoscopy, an E. 93rd St. clinic that usually only deals with digestive issues, caused Rivers’ vocal chords to seize — a condition doctors call a laryngospasm — cutting off her air supply, the source said.

“A biopsy like that should only be done in a hospital setting,” the source said.

“If she had been in a hospital when it happened, she might have been okay,” the source said.

I wonder if that’s as awful as it sounds?

Some body made a big mistake. Yorkville Endoscopy may be filing for bankruptcy really soon.

What a strange thing for them to do–to let a doctor who just happened by to do a biopsy that they never do at that facility. Let alone to do it on an incredibly well-known celebrity who was presumably unconscious or under sedation and unable to complain or give consent. They may as well start selling off their equipment to cover the legal fees.

These doctors, do try to play God these days. They were dealing with her throat. They didn’t realize there could be further complications? Therefore, you do the procedure in the hospital.

    This is pretty sad news.
