On Wednesday night, President Obama gave a televised primetime address on his strategy to “degrade and destroy” the terrorist army ISIS that clocked in at almost 2,000 words, but to hear conservatives tell it, the speech actually only lasted about five seconds. While the rest of America heard the President reveal a four-part strategy to fight the group in Iraq and Syria, all most conservatives heard was this one line:

ISIL is not “Islamic.”[su_center_ad]

That bit of wise cultural diplomacy (and undeniable truth, since ISIS kills many more Muslims than anyone else) sent the conservative internet into a berserk rage at Obama’s refusal to label all Muslims murderers. Conservative hatred and indifference to facts converged most elegantly on derp clearinghouse, which ran the following headline:

Rand Paul reportedly defends Obama’s ‘ISIL is not Islamic’ comments

Wait, what? “Reportedly?” What, did he whisper it to Ted Cruz in the next stall of the Senate washroom?

No, as it turns out, Senator Paul made his comments right on the TV, and rather than actually watch TV, Twitchy aggregated a bunch of apoplectic tweets, and added “Twitchy has not yet confirmed that Paul made the comments attributed to him above.”

Yeah, if only there were some method by which you could verify what people say on TV.

They added the video this morning, which does, indeed, feature Rand Paul demonstrating his greatest political liability…READ MORE

The push for war is from the left and the right and all differences have come down to semantics. Where is the anti-war voice? If this is the JV team why does it matter if it’s Islamic or not? I’m tired of being told to go in lock step toward another quagmire simply because the sitting President is a Democrat.

Cons put fingers in their ears singing ‘la la la la…” They don’t want to admit that a broad coalition of 40 self preserving nations, are allied with the Obama admin and the new Iraqi government to support a sovereign Iraq beating back secular terrorists. The U.S. coalition includes 40 country contributors, consisting of 10 announced NATO members: The U.S., Britain, Canada, Australia, Denmark, France, Germany, Poland, Italy and Turkey. The State Department says as many as 40 countries have contributed to U.S. efforts in Iraq in the form of humanitarian aid and donation of arms.

If the Re-thugs, would once in a life-time, do their homework. They would have known this. But they are trying to find justifications to harm Muslims.

Jumping to conclusions is the only exercise some of them get. Add a juicy smear type conspiracy, and jumping up and down is the new game.

He was driving a wedge between Islam an ISIS and the Repubs interpret that as ” Obama’s denying that terrorism is a Muslim problem. This is why Romney lost the last election , we’ll one reason why. They take a few words from a paragraph and repeat it out of context. ” You didn’t build that” . 4 words from an entire paragraph that said in context that government infrastructure fosters a better economy and better business opportunities. World net daily is no doubt devoting a headline to such foolishness.

This is the same crowd that insists that the 93% of prison inmates aren’t really christians.

If they are not muslims, why do we give them Korans in Gitmo?
