Uninvited militia members patrolling the border are considering obstructing bridges between the United States and Mexico, in particular bridges in Rio Grande City, Roma and Falcon Dam, which are located in Starr County, Tx.

[su_center_ad]

Law enforcement officials claim they received a tip that some militia members plan to protest illegal border crossings by blocking traffic on the U.S.-Mexico bridges on Sept. 20 (video below).

International bridge authorities, local politicians and Customs and Border Protection officials met on Thursday to formulate a plan to deal with the possible blockade.

“What can we expect? I don’t know. The unknown becomes an issue that we really got to prepare for,” Rio Grande City Mayor Ruben Villarreal told KRGV 5.

“I’m 100 percent sure that with the National Guard, with DPS, with Border Patrol and local law enforcement, we’ll communicate and we’ll handle whatever comes,” added Mayor Villarreal.

“If they’re here to block traffic, to be a hindrance between traffic and the port of entry, that causes a problem. It’s a huge safety issue,” stated Mayor Villarreal. “A port of entry is not just a port of entry for people; it’s also a port of entry for commerce. There are hundreds of millions of dollars that transact at the ports of entry.”[su_csky_ad]

Why is the militia going to so much trouble to block a bridge, all they had to do was ask Christie for a few pointers, bingo problem solved.

    • Montag September 13th, 2014 at 6:25 pm

Do they want him to try and walk across it? With the state of the bridges, there is a real danger of collapse. Problem solved

    • granpa.usthai September 13th, 2014 at 9:47 pm

completely slipped my mind, but you are absolutely right. If anybody would know how to constrict traffic flow on a bridge, it’d be Christie.

  2. Roctuna September 13th, 2014 at 5:22 pm

Let’s wait and see. I have my doubts. These guys are really such wussies that now that the story has leaked, they’ll start backing off anything that might actually get them arrested. There will be a press release that says they were planning peaceful demonstrations at the bridges and terrorist-supporters are blowing it all out of proportion.

  3. edmeyer_able September 13th, 2014 at 5:36 pm

A lot of fresh produce comes out of Mexico. I don’t know if the broccoli sold in NY comes by truck all the way but if they start delaying shipments that effects shelf life they may have more than just Border Patrol on their backs.

  4. Denise September 13th, 2014 at 5:59 pm

this is the time for ferguson to send down their military. I do not think mexico is going to like destroying bridges

  5. mea_mark September 13th, 2014 at 6:05 pm

Maybe the Army should send some blackhawk helicopters down there to do some low level flying exercises. Just to practice, you know, lining up like your going to fire at some idiots or something.

    • edmeyer_able September 13th, 2014 at 6:11 pm

Rick Perry should send his National Guard to keep the traffic rolling, maybe they can grab some fresh fruit as the trucks roll by.

      • mea_mark September 13th, 2014 at 6:31 pm

Perry would probably have them help the militia block the bridges. He doesn’t want to be outdone by Chris Christie, he needs to look bigger and badder. Perry can block multiple bridges.

        • granpa.usthai September 13th, 2014 at 9:45 pm

Perry might be able to appear badder than Christie, but it’s gonna take a lot of Iowan foot longs to make him appear bigger.

Very manly, wearing a Call of Duty balaclava.

Must mean he is Special Ops 3rd Wing Nut division

    What has FOX wrought

  8. tiredoftea September 13th, 2014 at 7:14 pm

This is the result of confusing irresponsible behavior with “free speech”. It’s about time for what’s left of our law enforcement authorities to give these lunatic law breakers a little cooling off time.

    • Skydog2 September 13th, 2014 at 7:30 pm

Were the protesters in Ferguson who blocked traffic “lunatic law breakers”?

      • edmeyer_able September 13th, 2014 at 7:35 pm

Lunatic no, law breakers, if they blocked traffic then yes they do indeed block traffic.broke the law. It will be interesting to see how those on the border will be dealt with if they block traffic.

        • juicyfruityyy September 13th, 2014 at 8:28 pm

Nothing would happen to them. That’s way they are still around.

          • granpa.usthai September 13th, 2014 at 9:42 pm

good point, well taken, Nevada noted!

      • R.J. Carter September 13th, 2014 at 7:40 pm

Technically, they didn’t get to block the traffic. The police stopped them from the attempt. Dozens were arrested in the attempt, though.

        • juicyfruityyy September 13th, 2014 at 8:29 pm

This is true. Many were arrested.

      • tiredoftea September 13th, 2014 at 8:17 pm

No, they were aggrieved citizens who were being assaulted by their local police after being correctly outraged by yet another act of police brutality. An entirely different set of circumstances from these poseurs with their distressing notions of rights and their flashing of weapons for no reason other than crying out for any sort of attention.

        • neworleans878 September 13th, 2014 at 8:29 pm

Agree with you that the citizens have real grievances vs. fake B.S.

But don’t think anyone should cause massive inconvenience to others…hurts their cause more than helps it.

          • tiredoftea September 13th, 2014 at 8:37 pm

Since Ferguson is not the crossroads of commerce in the St. Louis area, and the outrage was directed within the community, whatever inconvenience it caused was borne by the citizens themselves. Long overdue and restrained, BTW given the community abuse suffered under their politicians.

Unlike the cowardly pricks announcing their intended disruption of an international bridge carrying goods between countries.

          • neworleans878 September 13th, 2014 at 8:52 pm

Incredible how manufactured grievances are pumped up to be greater than real grievances, ain’t it?

Most incredible is how it’s sold that so many side against their own interests.

          • tiredoftea September 13th, 2014 at 9:37 pm

Yup, we are a dumb and gullible species.

          • greenfloyd September 14th, 2014 at 1:34 am

You know you can read that both ways, knee-jerks left and right. A racist militia is nothing new, although I’m not sure if there’s the traditional profit-motive involved here. Unless of course thier working with the traffickers to divert attention for that next load of cocaine or meth…You can’t trust anybody. Not with that much “commerce.”

          • Skydog2 September 14th, 2014 at 1:08 am

They didn’t announce their intention or even do anything, just a bunch of people complaining about what might happen.

          • M D Reese September 14th, 2014 at 12:13 am

Polite aggrieved minority citizens never get their civil rights issues addressed.

          • whatthe46 September 14th, 2014 at 6:54 pm

            tried that with civil rights.

          • M D Reese September 14th, 2014 at 7:36 pm

            Exactly.

          • whatthe46 September 14th, 2014 at 6:54 pm

            and the civil rights marches?

      • M D Reese September 14th, 2014 at 12:10 am

        No.

        • Skydog2 September 14th, 2014 at 9:24 am

Then you have a double standard. Blocking traffic as a means of protest is either ok or not ok.

          • Anomaly 100 September 14th, 2014 at 10:38 am

Well let’s see here. One is protesting the shooting death of an unarmed teenager. The other is a group of amateur cop wannabes interfering with border patrol’s duties.

          • Skydog2 September 14th, 2014 at 10:46 am

“protesting the shooting death of an unarmed teenager” – The state and federal govt are already fully engaged, Blocking traffic disturbs commerce/commuters and interferes with police duties.

          • Anomaly 100 September 14th, 2014 at 11:10 am

“are already fully engaged” because of the protests. FIFY

          • M D Reese September 14th, 2014 at 2:20 pm

Sky dog doesn’t care about the finer points. Or any points, really. Just another troll dragging us down the rabbit hole.

          • M D Reese September 14th, 2014 at 2:19 pm

I can see that nuance is not your forte. Maybe some day you’ll be in a position that will help you understand. But probably not.

          • whatthe46 September 14th, 2014 at 6:51 pm

i missed the part where they were holding uzi’s and ak’s and threating people.

        no

  9. jasperjava September 13th, 2014 at 7:22 pm

They look like terrorists, and that’s essentially what they are.

    • juicyfruityyy September 13th, 2014 at 8:31 pm

They are domestic terrorists. Which we need to deal with. They should not be given a pass.

  10. juicyfruityyy September 13th, 2014 at 8:31 pm

They would fit right in with, ISIS.

    • M D Reese September 14th, 2014 at 12:09 am

      Yup–same uniforms, same hate…

  11. granpa.usthai September 13th, 2014 at 9:40 pm

I hope these WHITE Racist Terrorist wander just a wee bit too far into Mexican territory (enough to be arrested by the Federales) . It would be funny to see. Take your guns out of your dead cold hands? – when you’re in Mexico? -Damn right!

    • M D Reese September 14th, 2014 at 12:09 am

That really WOULD be funny. I wish that O’Keefe would try it, too.

    • Skydog2 September 14th, 2014 at 9:27 am

People who want to seal our border are racist?

  12. Shades September 13th, 2014 at 11:17 pm

They’ll be asked to leave and they’ll turn and walk away with their tails between their legs.

  13. M D Reese September 14th, 2014 at 12:08 am

I just hope that no refugee children are harmed when these guys freak out and start shooting each other.

    • whatthe46 September 14th, 2014 at 6:48 pm

what about someone who’s crossing that were only visiting relatives? are they going to get shot by these idiots when they are in fact American citizens.

      • M D Reese September 14th, 2014 at 7:38 pm

They are really making it worse. I loved it when one of them got shot at by the Border Control, and after investigation it was found that he was an ex-felon and wasn’t supposed to even HAVE a gun, let alone wave it around at the border.

  14. Dwendt44 September 14th, 2014 at 12:27 am

Few illegals cross at the bridges.DOH. It looks more like a public display of force or publicity.

  15. greenfloyd September 14th, 2014 at 1:04 am

    Mayor Villarreal:

“A port of entry is not just a port of entry for people; it’s also a port of entry for commerce. There are hundreds of millions of dollars that transact at the ports of entry.”

While I agree these “militiamen” are dupes, they may also be the only honest players in theater. At this point I trust them more than Border Patrol, DEA, ICE, racial profiling, facilitating drugs, guns and people smuggling. Oh, I know the “milita” is there to stop “illegals,” and that’s a racist mindset I disagree with. However, their actions can serve a positive purpose by keeping the US/Mexican Border in the spotlight. As a Liberal I am in favor of increasing pressure on President Obama and Congress to do something other than abuse and neglect American cities like Ferguson MO, to Central American cities like Tegucigalpa Honduras. If that non-violently disrupts “commerce” or inconveniences people for a time, so be it! Exploit their action, appropriate it to serve a Liberal agenda.

    • fancypants September 14th, 2014 at 1:40 am

I guess your saying “right to carry ” until the wrong person gets shot ?

      • greenfloyd September 14th, 2014 at 2:27 am

No! I am suggesting that we look at it in the big-picture; these guys are not the biggest problem along the US/Mexico Border, where you can’t trust anybody. I think we need to call-out the political establishment for their cruel, hypocritical abuse and neglect of our freedom and security here at home as well as with our Southern Neighbors.

        • fancypants September 14th, 2014 at 4:54 pm

we have been to that rodeo before greenfloyd with the ” minutemen ” who were told to knock it off. it looks like some didn’t get the memo ?

          • greenfloyd September 14th, 2014 at 11:57 pm

            min·ute·man/ˈminətˌman/noun
(in the period preceding and during the American Revolution) a member of a class of American militiamen who volunteered to be ready for service at a minute’s notice.

Of course that was a long time ago, however the idea still obviously persist. My question is do they exist today merely as a tool for some wider political agenda or are they, at least in some part a justified response to federal malfeasence and corruption?

          • fancypants September 15th, 2014 at 12:52 am

more like a bunch of rouge / weekend warrior couch potatoes who are misinformed and ready to cause an accident at the drop of a hat.
sorry if I cant be more specific but I think you get the idea ?

          • greenfloyd September 15th, 2014 at 2:25 am

I haven’t seen a demographic breakdown of today’s “militias” although I”ve read about some Iraq and Afghanistan veterans who support and participate in various actions and training. That doesn’t mean some aren’t “misinformed” or racist. And I don’t support that at all!
However, at this point along the US/Mexico Border the militia has the potential of exposing the massive corruption of law enforcement at all levels. I hope they live to tell about it.

    • ChrisVosburg September 14th, 2014 at 8:20 am

      Thanks again Ralph.

In other words, Floyd, you are by no stretch of the imagination a liberal. You are a Naderite libertarian, and don’t bother to deny it.

      • greenfloyd September 14th, 2014 at 10:58 pm

“Naderite libertarian?” Whatever, no bother! You should try stretching, it’s good for you.

      What an ignorant comment.

      • fahvel September 14th, 2014 at 10:17 am

ignorance is in the eye of the beholder – you really can’t see these clowns justifiably taking a head from one of those folks who challenge the sanctity of their pretensions? sad for you.

        • greenfloyd September 14th, 2014 at 10:53 pm

I think what Skydog2 is getting at is that you read too much into the attached photo which may or may not have anything to do with the subject at hand.

  17. Dwendt44 September 14th, 2014 at 12:24 pm

The entry points, etc. are federal property and the open carry laws of Texas and/or Arizona do not apply. That means they have to stay a fair distance away. maybe a tired driver steering an 18 wheeler will run them down.

    • whatthe46 September 14th, 2014 at 6:43 pm

“maybe a tired driver steering an 18 wheeler will run them down.” thanks for that laugh. now you got me wishing… and now i must pray for that thought running through my head as i’ve visualized it as well. damn you dwendt44.
