Texas Chemistry Teacher Arrested After Allegedly Bringing ‘Date Rape Recipes’ To School

An Oak Ridge High chemistry teacher in Texas was arrested at school on Friday after investigators said they found “date rape recipes” in a backpack she had with her. Haivan Bui and her husband’s arrest came after deputies executed a search warrant at her Woodlands apartment, according to KHOU.

Deputies say they found two ounces of methamphetamine, marijuana, numerous prescription medications and several ounces of Gamma-Hydroxybutyrate, a compound used in date rape drugs. Also found were recipes for date rape drugs,  prescription medications and a loaded shotgun.

[su_center_ad]Bui’s husband, Chris Hartwell, was reportedly present during the raid and was arrested as well.

“What if I’m out walking my dog and someone attacks me because she’s right here producing a date rape drug,” neighbor Karen Cox asked. “I don’t feel safe anymore.”

Bui also teaches at Lone Star College.

At Oak Ridge High, sophomore Armando Sanchez said, “She was really nice. I think she was a good teacher.”

Sanchez said that when Bui didn’t show up for class, another teacher came in and told them that she had just been arrested.

“It was kind of crazy. Everyone was like, maybe it’s drugs, and it was,” he said.

Principal Tommy Johnson emailed parents:

“There is no reason to believe that any illegal activity took place at the campus at this time.

We are very disappointed and want to assure you that we are committed to providing a safe learning environment for our students. We will remain vigilant in investigating any and all reports that might affect the well-being of students or staff.”

Bui is charged with possession with intent to deliver and/or manufacture a controlled substance.

Her husband is charged with possession of a controlled substance, aggravated possession of a controlled substance and felon in possession of a firearm.
