[su_center_ad]At first Police believed Bartheld died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, but after discovering explosives and chemicals used for manufacturing explosives, authorities determined that Bartheld likely died when one of his homemade devices unintentionally detonated.

An autopsy will be performed on Monday.

The Colorado Springs Regional Explosives Unit and two nearby HAZMAT teams secured the scene and removed and safely detonated the explosives.Once the house was declared safe, the man’s body was removed from the crawl space.

Police said they believe they know a motive for Bartheld’s actions, but no further details will be released until they are confirmed by investigators.

We are finding people with more bombs and illegal ammunition, these days. They sound like they were preparing for a war.
