South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham says we are going to need ground troops to fight ISIS, and that President Obama is sure to fail on his current course.

“It is our fight,” Graham replied. “It is not just their fight. This is a radical Islamic army that is pushing the theory of a master religion, not a master race like the Nazis. … It’s about protecting millions of people throughout the world. … They’re intending to come here. So I will not let this president suggest to the American people we can outsource our security and this is not about our safety.”

“Our strategy will fail yet again,” he said. “This president needs to rise to the occasion before we all get killed here at home.” (There is no consensus among intelligence officials about the extent of the threat posed by Islamic State to the United States.) An NBC News/Wall Street Journal/Annenberg poll whose results were disclosed on NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday suggests that the American public agrees with Graham’s skepticism. Sixty-eight percent think that the president’s plan is unlikely to succeed.

30 responses to Graham: Obama Better ‘Rise to The Occasion Before We All Get Killed Here At Home’

The hinges fell off his door years ago, time for Lindsey to retire to the padded room.

  2. mea_mark September 14th, 2014 at 5:27 pm

Lindsey Graham isn’t looking so good in the polls. Time to rile up the war-mongers and see if he can’t get a few more votes. Sacrificing American lives uselessly for the oligarchy ought to do the trick. Well, it ought to at least bring in some more campaign donations. I think we should be more afraid of Lindsey Graham than any body else, he wants wants Americans to die on foreign soil. I say we keep our boots on the ground here as much as possible. If anything, we can put some forces in the air and off shore out at sea. Blast them at a distance if we have to do anything.

      Well said.

“This president needs to rise to the occasion before we all get killed here at home.”

All of us? Please, Senator Graham. Some will die here in the future. That’s inevitable. When ISIS brings it here they will die here.

      • granpa.usthai September 14th, 2014 at 8:58 pm

        WTF!

fight them over there so we don’t have to fight them over here worked before…
-and gave a hell of a boost to offshore banking with Republican account holders!

    • granpa.usthai September 14th, 2014 at 9:19 pm

      WTF, mea_mark.
do you not understand the immediate seriousness of ISIS?
they’re coming to kill each and every one of us!!!
we need a leader who will act WHITE and take appropriate action.
I think POTUS Obama should seek Republican alliance in using 24/7 nuclear barrages until the entire area is 20,000 leagues under the sea!
may not solve the problem, but at least it’ll give US time to gather our senses about forming a good defensive posture – surely Republicans would approve such a plan as serious as this threat is!?! (I’m sure he can count on Senator Graham and Senator McCain to spearhead it through the senate).

  3. Obewon September 14th, 2014 at 5:27 pm

68% thinking the president’s plan is unlikely to succeed, have no idea what the plan is, or that 40 US NATO allies are bombing and retaking Iraqi territory ceded by GWB failure & ex Iraqi PM Maliki.

    • granpa.usthai September 14th, 2014 at 9:05 pm

in the 21st century, one little button pushed on a panel 10,000 miles away can eliminate the need for massive 18th century military buildup and movements at 1/1000000000th the cost and without any US casualty. Unfortunately for the offshore bankers it may hinder expected trillions of dollars deposits, but I fail to see where that would help the US Economy anyway? (unless Mitt’s planning on building a fleet of luxury yachts made in USA for every minute of every hour of every day for his children’s children’s children’s lifetime enjoyments).

  4. tiredoftea September 14th, 2014 at 5:49 pm

Yes, Lindsey those domestic terrorists buddies of yours, radical christians, fringe right militia groups, sovereign citizens, and all the other dangerous groups of crackpots who you ignore, or encourage, are a worse internal threat than any Middle East group, at this time. Speak up about those guys Lindsey, and stop taking campaign contributions or using them in your campaigns, ‘k?

    • granpa.usthai September 14th, 2014 at 10:15 pm

ISIS is already on the US side of our southern border. Same mask and everything. The Nazi fourth column too, as some of ’em will be wearing outdated Afrika Corp attire.

      • tiredoftea September 14th, 2014 at 10:20 pm

No, those are Bundy supporters. Oh, wait, other than excessive facial hair, there’s a difference?

  5. Larry Conley September 14th, 2014 at 5:52 pm

The plan may be unlikely to succeed, but that is due to the inherent and enormous complexity of the situation. The military adventurism of the neoconservatives like Senator Graham, created this cluster phuck. If ISIL can be defeated, it will be through an approach like that the president proposed. People and nations in the Middle East must do much of the combat and the US, UK, France, Australia, Canada and so on need to provide various kinds of support. Non-Muslims, fighting and killing Muslims in ground combat will simply radicalize other Muslims against the US and the West.

    • granpa.usthai September 14th, 2014 at 10:33 pm

going all out nuke would give US enough time to think through a rational defense strategy before the ISIS fleet sets sail for America. Surely as concerned as Republicans are for US lives, they will seek that time pressed option first and agree it’s better than gambling with the lives of American soldiers like GW did with WMD’s? – IF they’re really sincere and not just spouting off political BS for $$$.

  6. Roctuna September 14th, 2014 at 6:05 pm

Geez, take a breath Lindsay, you’ll hyperventilate! “We’ll all die here at home”? What’s he cookin’ up with McCain?

    • granpa.usthai September 14th, 2014 at 9:09 pm

the muta’ load offshore bank deposits from the mutha’ of all wars?

  7. juicyfruityyy September 14th, 2014 at 6:15 pm

I think that is what he is trying to do. If you are in a rush, Ms Lindsee; you can put on a uniform, and perform your patriotic duty.

    • tiredoftea September 14th, 2014 at 6:43 pm

He’s still a reserve USAF JAG officer, so it’s possible. Unlikely, but possible.

      • granpa.usthai September 14th, 2014 at 9:08 pm

gonna be kinda impossible for him to fly over there if ‘the sky is falling’, isn’t it?

    • granpa.usthai September 14th, 2014 at 10:12 pm

if Republicans are really serious about protecting all of US instead of concerns over their offshore bank deposits, they’ll be calling for unleashing our nuclear arsenal against this immediate imminent threat instead of taking the time to build up another 18th century style invasion. I would hope POTUS Obama and the Democrats would be pointing out how they are just gambling with the lives of all of US (like GW did with WMD’s) if they don’t.

      AWESOME

Do I have permission to use that pic next time I speak to a brainless drone of the Koch Brothers?

  9. labman57 September 14th, 2014 at 7:12 pm

Graham has been suffering through a number of sleepless nights lately, largely due to the monsters in his closet and the bogeyman under his bed.

  10. R J September 14th, 2014 at 7:46 pm

I say, I do believe Lindsay is about to have one of her/his fainting spells, can we please have one of our black republicans standing by with a fan. I do declare he/she does tend to catch the vapors an awful lot these last few years, what with a “black man” in the white house and all (if you know what I mean).

    • granpa.usthai September 14th, 2014 at 9:26 pm

if all of US are going to die, doesn’t it make sense to unleash our nuclear arsenal on ’em?
      use it or lose it.
after all, a concerned world would agree it’s better than allowing them to come over here, kill US all and have the weapons for themselves?
-and thanks to 21st century technology, we don’t have to sacrifice one single soldier – not even by a deployment accident!

  11. granpa.usthai September 14th, 2014 at 8:54 pm

masses of ground forces with lots of US casualties are the best and fastest way for Republicans to increase their offshore banking enough to feed their greed. Anything short of that is already a failure to them (note Mitt’s election beliefs that we should return our military to 18th century standards as more casualties = larger unquestioned offshore bank accounts). Little do most people want to realize that 2-3 multi-million dollar missiles equipped with radioactive material could eliminate multi-trillion dollar wars without a single US casualty. Could Senator Graham and his greedy warmongering party explain to this US citizen why they will refuse to even consider that option when we’ve had 21st military capability for over a generation now?

  12. Budda September 14th, 2014 at 10:03 pm

Raise to the occasion….besides pontificating, how about real suggestion oh pie in the sky wanna be Ms. Lindsey

  13. granpa.usthai September 14th, 2014 at 10:06 pm

why do the Republicans want to gamble with the lives of all of US? (other than offshore bank account deposits).
when they should be backing the unleashing of our nuclear arsenal to prevent US from all being killed by this imminent threat?

    • NMAXXS September 15th, 2014 at 3:49 am

“…they should be backing the unleashing of our nuclear arsenal…”

My guess would be that Republicans aren’t as insane as some would suggest.

      • granpa.usthai September 15th, 2014 at 5:35 am

I would tend to agree, but nothing says badass like a rising green glowing mushroom cloud, more so than gambling on how many troops are sent back in body bags sending loot into an offshore bank account. IF they are serious about the seriousness of the current threat (they’re coming to America to kill US all), they’ll jump on the nuclear solution with a solid affirmation, if not – it’s nothing but a proven way to increase their offshore bank account deposits.
“they must be defeated – but in a long drawn out meat grinder that chews up the youth of America ?”

  14. granpa.usthai September 14th, 2014 at 10:21 pm

I’ll see your political bluff, Senator Graham, and call you with nuclear annihilation of the immediate imminent annihilation you’ve laid on the table…

  15. ChrisVosburg September 15th, 2014 at 1:57 pm

Best part about Lindsay Graham trying to talk tough is his doing it in thay-ut voy-iss, which sounds to much of the english-speaking world like some sort of speech impediment.
