Black Dentist Forced To Resign All-White Dental Practice Over Support For Michael Brown
Dr. Misee Harris, a pediatric dentist best known as the “Black Bachelorette,” was forced to resign from her dental practice after supporting slain teen Michael Brown and the Ferguson, Missouri protesters on social media.
According to Tiffany Willis at Liberal America, Dr. Harris was beloved and respected by staff and patients at the dental practice where she had been offered a partnership, until those in charge turned on her.
[su_center_ad]Harris was the sole African American at the practice.
Dr. Harris was called into a meeting and presented with screenshots from her private Facebook page. Harris had blocked colleagues from accessing her account and she was told that a doctor who is a partner at the office, and who led the meeting, had a friend spy on her Facebook page.
The images were captured and sent to the doctor who led the meeting.

Misee was then told that some of her Facebook posts about recent racial issues in America were “unprofessional.” The biggest bone of contention to the partners was a cartoon (see graphic below) related to the recent police murders of several innocent African-Americans across the nation. The partner held up the picture and asked Misee “Do you think we (meaning Misee’s white colleagues) are all like this?”

And now the dental practice consists solely of white employees. I’m pretty sure she’ll be alright, considering her Tweet below:

Case in point: Right before the last presidential election, in 2012 Dr. Misee Harris was invited to a dinner with President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, as part of her involvement on an Obama campaign team. At that time, her employer advised her not to go because, “We’re all Republicans here,” and that “President Obama was the one responsible for the financial ruin of his office.” I was expressly told at the time, “People who wanted to work for him should not be siding with Obama.”

My dentist tried that BS with me as well, as a patient not as an employee. I told him the ACA was cracking down on fraudulent uses of federal tax dollars to support unneeded dental hardware. He said he was going to lose money so he needed to raise his prices. I countered with this”Hardly Dr. B. You are raising your prices because you are building a new dental office and helping your mom open up a Steak and Shake in B—–, IN.” That shut him up PDQ and he removed the tiny little shaming signs from his practice almost immediately.
And he didn’t lose a dime OR raise his prices…..

It could be she has been intimidating them with her success. It seems she is doing good outside the office in multiple ways. She has a right to her own opinion. Plus, she can support who she chooses. But I wouldn’t write anything on face-book that I am not willing to support. What happened to her 1st Amendment rights? There seems to be more beyond this. Especially with the statement, “We’re all Republicans here,” “People who wanted to work for him should not be siding with Obama.” She sounds like she was doing a good job at the Dental Clinic.

As a private company, the Dentists CAN terminate an employee for their social views. On other hand, people of color CAN (and should) boycott the practice for the Draconian way that they handled Dr. Harris.

When she was admonished about the Obama dinner she should have known that she was being watched and that at least one person there wanted her gone. Moreover, it is likely many of the white patients took exception to her presence and were pressuring the doctors to get rid of her.
This woman was treated no worse than people who have supported marriage and or opposed same gender matrimony on social media. The problem is that congress is dysfunctional and the courts are running the country.
