Lakeland, Florida utility board member Steve Wade seems to have forgotten that describing African-Americans as “animals” and suggesting that African-American teen girls do nothing but get knocked up constantly isn’t exactly the best career move – but while he says he used the “wrong word,” he stands by his claims. In a September 4 budget meeting,…

The new GOP platform and instructions for all its candidates: Open Mouth; Insert Foot.

  2. edmeyer_able September 15th, 2014 at 4:44 pm

Retch Preebus should set up a hot line where his candidates have to run any statements by a panel before they’re made public. I’m sure it would save a lot of time trying to explain what they were really trying to say.

    • whatthe46 September 15th, 2014 at 5:26 pm

why? let the fk’n idiots get up there and say what comes out of their mouths so all can know who we are dealing with. wouldn’t you like to know who’s working for you. they may wear their hoods in private, don’t restrict their wantan ability to say the dumb sh’t they feel. its the best way to weed them out. i don’t think they should get to practice how to voice a lie.

Florida Republiklan proves why 95% of blacks with 2/3+ of all legacy minorities voting for Dems are much brighter than the mere 24% of voters remaining GOP today.

  4. neworleans878 September 15th, 2014 at 5:04 pm

I think it’s safe to say this a**hole won’t ever be nominated for Mr. Congeniality.

    • tiredoftea September 15th, 2014 at 5:35 pm

But, he will for the county’s Republican party leader!

  5. R J September 15th, 2014 at 5:12 pm

I must say this new republican outreach program to the black community is going oh so well. The best part is how they’re not even trying to hide their racism anymore.

    • Suzanne McFly September 15th, 2014 at 6:39 pm

Even if they did try to revise their speech’s and avoid certain code words, would anyone truly believe they changed their beliefs? I hope not.

I live in Highlands County which borders Polk County. He is saying what the majority of the oldtimers here say when they are amongst each other. I know this to be true because my family goes back in this area over 100+ years and I am a living witness to it. I’ve seen it in my own bloodline. Florida is beautiful on the outside but rancid and rotten in its’ core. I am so grateful that I was raised in the military, went to college and found out the world isn’t all this way.

    Our President said it best:
“When ignorant folks want to advertise their ignorance,

you don’t really have to do anything,

    you just let them talk,”

I always say it as well. Take Rush. He has done more
to help Democrats get elected than ANY ad could.
    Some say ‘Silence them!’
I say, just let them keep talkin’!!

    • Chinese Democracy September 15th, 2014 at 5:41 pm

When ignorant folks want to advertise their ignorance,

you don’t really have to do anything.. just tune in to Rush

      • M D Reese September 15th, 2014 at 6:20 pm

Speaking of Rush, here’s a little good news about the Big Fat Idiot:

His audience is dying off daily in big numbers so this would be something they should of known.

          • M D Reese September 15th, 2014 at 7:25 pm

I’m glad that he’s moving down the food chain to low power stations.

      thank you.

“Please proceed, Governor.” One of my all time favorite lines.

  8. Larry Schmitt September 15th, 2014 at 5:41 pm

He used the wrong words: they were in English.

    • whatthe46 September 15th, 2014 at 6:09 pm

      LOL good one.

  9. juicyfruityyy September 15th, 2014 at 5:42 pm

I f the Blacks, in Florida, seems to be backwards. Maybe, it is because Florida, has not moved forward. Time for a new Governor and Leadership.

  10. Tommy6860 September 15th, 2014 at 6:13 pm

The animal is this bigot who would treat people not like him as animals. In fact, treating animals as he thinks they should be treated is inhumane.

  11. Dianne Hornick September 15th, 2014 at 6:45 pm

“Except for me using the word animals, everything else was true,” Wade said. “They aren’t acting like human beings should be acting.”…If they aren’t animals and they aren’t human beings, what on Earth does he mean? WTF?

    • Suzanne McFly September 15th, 2014 at 6:52 pm

He thinks he’s being clever, and sadly I lived in Florida and compared to many who are like this guy, he actually is pretty clever.

  12. majii September 15th, 2014 at 7:06 pm

Wade has felt like this about Black Americans, and many others, for a long time. He has been concealing his thoughts/beliefs about them in public until now. Something set him off and he let the stupid bigotry flow in a public meeting.

And, GOPTP politicians wonder why most of us Black Americans vote for democrats?

They wouldn’t if they’d acknowledge that there are people like Wade in their party and they’re not ashamed to say things like this.

They’re too chickensh*t to stand up to these mthrfkers, so they ignore them and try to convince everyone that these people don’t “speak” for them. Oh, hell, yes they do because very few of them, from Reince Priebus down to local heads of the Republican Party, have the guts to say one word against them. Ask any of them about the racist, bigoted, homophobic, and other ugly comments members of their party have made/are making, and they automatically pivot to talking about how “Obama has failed the nation,” or how “he’s the one who has ruined race relations in this country.”

    Lying weasels.

  13. Jimmy Smith September 15th, 2014 at 8:01 pm

It’s almost like they have given up pretending they care about anyone who isn’t Evangelical Christian / male / straight / white …

    • hobbesjd September 16th, 2014 at 3:19 am

they never cared, it was just an act and how they feel that they have the “right” to say and do just about anything just because we have a black president in the WH. i was at the doctors today, there were signs all over the street, “impeach obama” he’s a socialist, a communist, there was a picture of him with a hitler mustache – these people EMBRACE uneducated stupidity and out right lies…they don’t know the difference between socialism and communism and trying to engage them in any kind of debate is a waste of time.

  14. JimmyPete September 15th, 2014 at 8:24 pm

Yeah cause in white Meth land and redneck valley no teenage girl ever gets pregnant.

  15. Skydog2 September 15th, 2014 at 8:46 pm

There are plenty of people of all races who act like animals. When the shoe fits, wear it.

(I’m not familiar with the circumstances in Lakeland to know if the word animals applies or not)

    • Hirightnow September 15th, 2014 at 11:06 pm

      I live in Central Florida.
      It doesn’t.

      • Skydog2 September 16th, 2014 at 3:44 am

        Good to hear.

  16. Denise September 15th, 2014 at 9:47 pm

its the gop’s idea of a minority outreach program! I don’t think it’s working. the irony of this is this man belongs to a party that is nostalgic about “the good old days” can refer to a community as “backwards.”

  17. hobbesjd September 16th, 2014 at 3:15 am

hup, hup, this outreach to minorities is going so well and the women’s outreach has reached the point where even christian women are waking up.

  18. fahvel September 16th, 2014 at 3:51 am

other than economy, what was the american civil war fought for? The kind of expressed racism in the usa is abominable.

  21. Mo Fei Chen September 16th, 2014 at 3:20 pm

Do some people just live in their own ‘whites-only’ bubble, day in and day out?

  22. Mo Fei Chen September 16th, 2014 at 3:23 pm

Let’s start with the term ‘our black community’.

  23. fancypants September 16th, 2014 at 3:34 pm

its not hard to believe whats said after ” florida republican ”
the bad news is an election isn’t going to solve the problem either

  24. Darrell L. Garlock September 17th, 2014 at 4:55 pm

actually we are all animals. think about that the next time you are hungry, or stub your toe, or have to use the facilities. we deny our animality…..that is what we do best.

  25. Jean September 18th, 2014 at 4:48 am

Do these people all get together in a room just to see who can come up
with the most ridiculous fucking things they can say for attention? The
    stupidity is astounding.
