Outside of Hillsboro High School in Nashville, an Open Carry activist was spotted walking around with a bulletproof vest on Wednesday, hanging flyers which referred to his rights not being infringed upon. It’s almost as if these activists have no memory of the Columbine High School shootings in which 13 people were killed and more than 20 were wounded.

Or the Sandy Hook massacre. Perhaps they remember, but they just have no respect for others.

TN-higschool

[su_center_ad]Just because you have the right, does not mean you should make others uncomfortable while abusing that right.

TN-High

Because then, you’re taking away our right to feel safe.

Yet somehow these activists feel they’ve earned respect from the rest of us who do remember the tragedy of the recent school shootings. Naturally, this activist felt compelled to go to the high school fully armed while wearing a bulletproof vest.

Big thanks to my tipster, who shall remain anonymous here.

I wouldn’t feel very “secure in my person” with that crazy gun fetishist roaming around just looking for a fight.

    • Leonard Embody September 17th, 2014 at 7:38 pm

So, he was “looking for a fight”? How did you reach that conclusion? Was it because he handed out leaflets?

      • Roctuna September 17th, 2014 at 7:50 pm

Because you don’t go out with your external penis of death, in body armor, unless you expect someone to shoot at you. That’s how I reached that conclusion! How obvious does it have to be?

        • Leonard Embody September 17th, 2014 at 7:54 pm

Cops and security guards wear body armor daily. Are they “looking for a fight”? Often politicians and others wear it as well.

          • Roctuna September 17th, 2014 at 7:59 pm

A security guard who wears body armor is living a fantasy. Cops expect to be shot at. Pols might, depending on the situation. Besides, this asshat is neither a cop, a guard, or politician on duty.

          • Leonard Embody September 17th, 2014 at 8:04 pm

You argue that passive safety devices should not be worn by law abiding persons?

          • Jimmy Smith September 17th, 2014 at 8:13 pm

Are you arguing that “passive safety devices” … AKA bullet proof vests … are not provocative, especially when one wears one while holding a rifle and walking around a school?
Would you feel safe if your child was in this school?

          • Leonard Embody September 17th, 2014 at 8:24 pm

He wasn’t “holding” a rifle. Look at the picture, it was slung on his back. So, safety devices are “provocative”?

          • whatthe46 September 17th, 2014 at 9:06 pm

            Darrien Hunt sword on back…

          • Jimmy Smith September 17th, 2014 at 9:30 pm

At this particular instant in time – do you have any proof that he was never holding his rifle at any time during his time around the school?
Since when has a bullet proof vest been a safety device for a civilian in a non conflict zone? Do you really believe that this school is a conflict zone or requires a person to wear a bullet proof vest? Would a “reasonable man” believe that wearing a bullet proof vest and carrying a rifle around a school is not a provocative move?

          • Leonard Embody September 17th, 2014 at 10:04 pm

The cops have pointed guns at me in the past, so that is my justification for wearing body armor. I video everything, and at no time did I touch the rifle or pistol.

          • Jimmy Smith September 17th, 2014 at 10:09 pm

Have you ever wondered about the things that you are doing that would make police point weapons at you?

Have you ever thought that a “reasonable man”, seeing someone with a pistol or rifle, walking around with a bullet proof vest may be a threat, especially around children and call police who would respond as you have noted?

          • tracey marie September 17th, 2014 at 10:32 pm

you shouldn’t be such a violent thug

          • Leonard Embody September 18th, 2014 at 3:59 pm

I suppose if handing out leaflets is violent thuggish behavior…

          • fahvel September 18th, 2014 at 3:53 am

how do you live in your world of fear and paranoia?

          • Leonard Embody September 18th, 2014 at 3:58 pm

I’m not in fear or paranoid. Neither should those in my presence.

          • fahvel September 18th, 2014 at 3:53 am

strike four – hell of a loser.

          • Anomaly 100 September 17th, 2014 at 8:17 pm

Good grief, did you even read the post? Either have respect for those around you or there will be gun laws which you won’t like, because We the People do not need to feel threatened while taking our children to school.

You people do this to intimidate others and we aren’t going to allow that in our society.

          • juicyfruityyy September 17th, 2014 at 10:54 pm

You people do this to intimidate others and we aren’t going to allow that in our society.

            Darrien Hunt

          • Leonard Embody September 18th, 2014 at 12:59 pm

Darrien, a black man, was shot in the back by lying white cops. At least that is what I understand to be the case.

          • fahvel September 18th, 2014 at 3:52 am

was Darrien Hunt looking for a fight?

      • tracey marie September 17th, 2014 at 10:30 pm

because he chose to do this in front of a school, he made a stupid decision about open carry when no one is taking his guns. Because he chose to terrorize kids and dare people to approach him,

      • fahvel September 18th, 2014 at 3:50 am

are you stupid or just trying to be clever? hmmmmm, stupid says I.

    • juicyfruityyy September 17th, 2014 at 10:53 pm

He wants you to fear him. It gives him the feeling of power and control.

Why do so many people ignore the entire first half of the 2nd Amendment?

    • M D Reese September 17th, 2014 at 8:05 pm

Beat me to it. They HATE that “well-regulated” part. I say let’s get to regulating.

    • juicyfruityyy September 17th, 2014 at 10:51 pm

Because it doesn’t suit there purpose.

    • tiredoftea September 17th, 2014 at 11:40 pm

Not everybody. A small and vocal minority have high jacked it. Thank the NRA for its forty year campaign to make clowns like that able to walk our streets armed and foolish.

  3. Obewon September 17th, 2014 at 8:25 pm

Armed open carry gun nuts were nearly shot on the border for displaying a similar ignorance. Not many will cry when the police respond to the many Nashville and other Tennessee gun murders. Normal activists aren’t compelled to scare schoolkids, just #GOPKochAddicts. There aren’t any open carry gun nuts here in NYC!

Scare kids because they’re afraid you’l shoot at people, or save humanity? On Sunday September 21 The People’s Climate March is an invitation to change everything. World leaders are coming to New York City for a UN summit on the climate crisis. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon is urging governments to support an ambitious global agreement to dramatically reduce global warming pollution. http://peoplesclimate.org/

  5. whatthe46 September 17th, 2014 at 8:58 pm

did anyone call 911 about a white guy walking around with a rifle and vest on? or does calling 911 only applies to black males walking around with a suvenior sword he had just purchased.

    • juicyfruityyy September 17th, 2014 at 11:04 pm

Everyone knows that call would have been useless.

  6. Leonard Embody September 17th, 2014 at 9:08 pm

Dangerous because I open carry a rifle, wear a body armor, and hand out leaflets? I’ve been open carrying for years.

    • uzza September 17th, 2014 at 9:13 pm

Dangerous because when a guy is so out of touch with reality that they do crazy jerkwad things–talk to parking meters, carry around guns, chain saws, or road kill, wear body armor or clown suits, or preach the End Times or 2nd Amendment, there’s no predicting what the stupid mook might do next, and it’s best to stay the hell away from him.

    • fahvel September 18th, 2014 at 3:55 am

you’re actually proud of being a chicken – wow!

    • raincheck September 18th, 2014 at 12:11 pm

You don’t find it provocative… because your stupid!…
Having said that, I will add that I really do appreciate what you idiots do, because it’s idiots like you, that have been getting yourselves banned from carrying weapons into stores and restaurants… KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!

“Dangerous because I open carry a rifle, wear a body armor, and hand out leaflets? I’ve been open carrying for years.” hahaha Good luck with the leaflets! We will just continue getting you banned from just about EVERY public place… until all you have left is your backyard or living room… and we will work on that as well… Peace

      • Leonard Embody September 18th, 2014 at 12:47 pm

Private business should have the right to make their own rules. Can’t ban me from the public streets and sidewalks in front of their stores or schools for that matter.

        • raincheck September 18th, 2014 at 12:57 pm

I’m sure that can be easily remedied… where there is a will.. there is a way

  7. Chinese Democracy September 17th, 2014 at 9:49 pm

  11. granpa.usthai September 18th, 2014 at 12:35 am

Still see they have NO RESPECT for the ENTIRE 2nd amendment!
BTW , who is this guy’s well unregulated militia’s commanding officer?

    • Leonard Embody September 18th, 2014 at 12:45 pm

The right to bear arms is a personal right unconnected to the militia. However, I am well trained in the use of arms.

      • Anomaly 100 September 18th, 2014 at 4:05 pm

You’re allowed an opinion, but it doesn’t mean I won’t continue to open carry a rifle. You have no choice in the matter.

          • Anomaly 100 September 18th, 2014 at 4:21 pm

You frightened people yesterday. The school was concerned. I have confirmation of that fact.

It doesn’t bother you that you’re scaring the crap out of kids?

          • mea_mark September 18th, 2014 at 4:27 pm

I wouldn’t be surprised if he is turned on by that, it might feed his machismo.

          • Anomaly 100 September 18th, 2014 at 4:33 pm

I know enough about Leonard to know that that’s most likely true.

          • Leonard Embody September 18th, 2014 at 4:27 pm

I spoke with a large group of kids at the bus stop. I handed out a lot of leaflets and they didn’t seem scared at all. In any case an irrational fear of guns is a mental issue. I would suggest those who “feel” scared to contact a mental health professional and work out their issues.

          • Carla Akins September 18th, 2014 at 4:29 pm

So we should never be concerned when we see someone carrying a long gun in public? A movie theater, school, community gathering? When should we be fearful – after they start shooting? Please enlighten me.

          • Leonard Embody September 18th, 2014 at 4:34 pm

When someone has a long gun slung on their shoulder? Concern, possibly. Fear, no. When somebody has a firearm in their hand and is shooting people? I would say concern and fear. The best way to protect yourself in an active shooter situation is seek cover and protect yourself by returning fire if they are shooting at you.

          • Carla Akins September 18th, 2014 at 4:43 pm

Right….because killing innocent people in the crossfire is a good idea. Forgive me, but I don’t know or trust you as I see you walking down the street. My job is to keep myself and my family safe – and all I see is a grown man that finds it necessary to not only carry, but display a gun in public walking down the sidewalk. I have walked down sidewalks for more than 50 years and can find no possible legitimate reason to need that gun. This tells me your only purpose is self-serving narcissism and deep-seated need to intimidate those around you. I can only assume you lack the social skills needed to maneuver your way through life successfully. I don’t believe in banning guns, but I do believe in responsible ownership and nothing about your little walk-about inspires in any faith in your intentions or mental health.

          • Blogvader September 18th, 2014 at 4:48 pm

Furthermore, as they teach in the mandatory Missouri Hunter Safety course, one has to be mindful of where their bullet is going. People have been shot ‘accidentally’ miles away from where a bullet was discharged, and I’d wager one of these twitchy, paranoid gun worshipers isn’t likely to give that fact enough consideration.

          • Leonard Embody September 18th, 2014 at 5:01 pm

I lack social skills and have a small penis, but you still can’t stop me from bearing arms. Lol

          • Carla Akins September 18th, 2014 at 5:39 pm

I never made the penis remark or even alluded to the reference. I could care less about your dick, I do care that you’re clearly a sociopath that should be prevented from owning guns, operate machinery or work around children. It’s a shame you’re missing so many wonderful things in life due to your lack of empathy and inability to interact with others. One day you will regret that this ridiculous fascination was more important than people.

          • whatthe46 September 18th, 2014 at 8:29 pm

what’s sad is that you actually believe the b.s. you’re spewing. and that’s fk’n scary. so everyone should just start shooting at each other a fk’n free for all. you were certainly touched with a special stick.

          • Leonard Embody September 18th, 2014 at 11:19 pm

That is not what I said. Too bad you can’t stop be from open carrying a rifle in front of schools. LOL

          • Anomaly 100 September 18th, 2014 at 4:31 pm

They’re *children* not mental cases. you idiot.

          • Leonard Embody September 18th, 2014 at 4:38 pm

They might be if they fear inanimate objects.

          • Anomaly 100 September 18th, 2014 at 4:41 pm

“Might”? Kids who are in school are in fact “children.”

            Good Lord, you’re stupid.

          • Carla Akins September 18th, 2014 at 4:48 pm

No, let me be clear – it’s not the gun. It’s you with the gun that creates the fear.

          • Leonard Embody September 18th, 2014 at 5:05 pm

Stop worrying. I’ve a clean record, a veteran, a nurse, former gun dealer, and a family man. I am also a good shot.

          • Carla Akins September 18th, 2014 at 5:32 pm

I fear you lack the capacity to understand words.

          • searambler September 19th, 2014 at 9:57 am

So we should just assume that, of everyone we see walking around with a gun openly displayed? That they’re all ‘good guys with a gun’, just out for a stroll, exercising a right? Is that your goal here? To enable the ‘bad guy with a gun’ by making open carry so commonplace that they can do it with impunity, without fear of reprisal?

You’re a sociopath. And clearly you have serious mental issues. Please seek help before you get hurt or you hurt someone.

      • Um Cara September 18th, 2014 at 6:01 pm

        Leonard,
There was a time, not very long ago, when I was at odds with the majority of my fellow liberals regarding guns. I believed there should be almost no restrictions, machine guns, silencers, whatever.

Folks like yourself have convinced me the second amendment must be repealed. Not because I really believe it gives citizens the right to shoot cops, soldiers, etc… if they think they are ‘out of control’, but rather because there seems to be so many who do believe that. Now we have folks like yourself who think it gives you the right to patrol elementary schools. I’m guessing you will change some additional people’s opinion on the second.

Repeal it, replace it w/ something allowing firearms to be stored at shooting/hunting clubs under the regulation/supervision of either local or federal law enforcement authorities. Require ammunition to be checked out & accounted for.

That’s the effect folks like yourself have had on a previously very pro gun lib. Carry on…

        • tiredoftea September 18th, 2014 at 7:26 pm

Interesting post. There is no need to repeal the 2nd to require the restrictions you suggest. Which I agree with, BTW. The argument is a political one and the gun fetishists are winning, but they have brought the attention to themselves and most is not sympathetic to their lunatic ideas. The politics will change back and we will reclaim the 2nd in its fullest meaning. The Leonard’s of the world can go back to their closets and sniff gun oil.

      • tiredoftea September 18th, 2014 at 7:20 pm

        Umm, no, it is not.

        • Leonard Embody September 18th, 2014 at 8:35 pm

          Umm, yes, it is.

          • tiredoftea September 18th, 2014 at 8:46 pm

Nope, sorry. Your, and other gun fetishist, strident position aside, the 2nd clearly, historically and contextually is in reference to a state controlled militia. The NRA and other single issue zealot groups have perverted it, so far. That will not last and the 2nd will be restored, in practice, to its full meaning.

Enjoy your lonely marches with your old gun. Impotence takes all forms.

  12. granpa.usthai September 18th, 2014 at 12:44 am

Nashville is another city that would do well to have a heavily armed BLACK unregulated militia to keep the peace and protect school children from creeps like this.

    • Leonard Embody September 18th, 2014 at 12:44 pm

I agree that blacks should be armed and encourage them to open carry, in a law abiding manner, as I do.

  13. majii September 18th, 2014 at 2:38 am

He’s such a brave fellow that he had to wear a bullet-proof vest while making a statement about his 2nd Amendment rights!

    • Leonard Embody September 18th, 2014 at 12:43 pm

It has been shown that cops have shot first and asked questions later. I wear a personal protection device to protect me from them.

      • thepuffytaco September 19th, 2014 at 7:15 am

    • Leonard Embody September 18th, 2014 at 12:41 pm

I agree cops will usually shoot blacks before whites. Don’t blame that racism on me.

      • Dan September 18th, 2014 at 3:26 pm

Then do us all a favor; paint your face black to prove a point about racist police, get shot, die, and stop stealing oxygen. Thankfully no one cares enough about your sorry fat ass to file a wrongful death suit.

  16. Dan September 18th, 2014 at 3:22 pm

He’s not an activist, he’s a troll trying to gain lawsuit fodder. Responsible gun owners hate this guy because he has hijacked the cause of gun rights to suit his own narcissistic campaign of stupidity. Do not associate this man with gun rights advocates. No one is supporting him.

    • Leonard Embody September 18th, 2014 at 4:01 pm

I don’t support any “gun rights” group. I exercise my right to bear arms and if you don’t like it too bad for you. LOL

      • Dan September 18th, 2014 at 4:08 pm

No, your intent was to terrorize parents and students. If you wanted to exercise your rights you could have chosen any number of places, but you chose a place which would elicit the most emotional response, because you’re a douchebag. You’re going to die alone and broke. I hope these ridiculous stunts you pull once or twice a year are enough to keep you warm at night. God forbid you suck start your own pistol before the cops get a chance to shoot you dead.

            Why?

ps no answer needed or wanted.

          • searambler September 19th, 2014 at 9:45 am

Why? For what purpose? Are you simply bored? Are you part of a well regulated militia?

That’s you in the picture, is it not? So is this:

      • Leonard Embody September 18th, 2014 at 4:08 pm

Yes, that is me in the picture.

        • Anomaly 100 September 18th, 2014 at 4:20 pm

Yes, actually I already knew that.

        • raincheck September 18th, 2014 at 7:34 pm

“He simply wants attention, whether good, bad, positive or negative,
right or wrong. he craves the spotlight and he will do anything to get
into it. He wishes to stir up the hornet’s nest, to create debate, to
          pit people against each other”

Seeing the way you jumped around from person to person I see how you are ‘STARVING’ for attention. Your world is getting smaller and smaller… that’s what happens to losers like you

          • Leonard Embody September 19th, 2014 at 12:42 am

I’m not starving for attention. However, I will use the media to relay the message that open carry is legal.

          • PikeRver September 19th, 2014 at 7:27 pm

We all know it is ….

          • Leonard Embody September 19th, 2014 at 8:55 pm

It seems the cops don’t know and many who I talk to on the streets don’t know.

      • raincheck September 18th, 2014 at 7:36 pm

        Interesting post Anomaly…

        • Anomaly 100 September 18th, 2014 at 7:49 pm

He works only 4 hours per day selling firearms, then spends the rest of his day touting gun ownership to kids.

          • Leonard Embody September 18th, 2014 at 8:51 pm

Someone needs to arm the populace.

          • Anomaly 100 September 18th, 2014 at 8:55 pm

            Not children.

          • Leonard Embody September 18th, 2014 at 9:01 pm

They need to know they can and should be armed at 18 years old.

          • Anomaly 100 September 18th, 2014 at 9:17 pm

18? I graduated at 16. Did you just get out this year? I know you were born in the 70s.

          • Leonard Embody September 18th, 2014 at 9:58 pm

            Yesterday.

          • Anomaly 100 September 18th, 2014 at 10:28 pm

Slow learning, huh? It’s OK, you’ll be fine. Just stay away from kids .

          • Leonard Embody September 18th, 2014 at 11:17 pm

No, I’ll continue to open carry at that school and others.

          • Anomaly 100 September 18th, 2014 at 11:26 pm

You have problems. Anytime I see a picture of you in front of a school fully armed, I’ll be sure to ask the school and the police why your butt isn’t in jail.

          • Leonard Embody September 18th, 2014 at 11:30 pm

They’ll reply with, “He didn’t violate any law.”

          • Anomaly 100 September 18th, 2014 at 11:39 pm

I saw the response from the school and read the concern from the police department. Not violating the law, does not mean you will not be heavily scrutinized while you’re scaring the shit out of kids and parents.

            You’re a narcissistic little punk.

          • Leonard Embody September 18th, 2014 at 11:50 pm

You see, I don’t care about you or what you think. You can pound out the name calling on your keyboard all night, but it all really boils down to you pounding sand.

          • Anomaly 100 September 18th, 2014 at 11:54 pm

Then why are you here exactly?

          • Leonard Embody September 18th, 2014 at 11:58 pm

You’re here to pound sand and I’m here to show people that they may openly bear arms as recognized by Constitution. See, you can do nothing to stop me and I am simply relaying a message.

          • Anomaly 100 September 19th, 2014 at 12:01 am

I support you because it helps my side of the debate. All we have to do is sit back and watch the Open Carry dorks get banned from every establishment. Gun laws will happen but only because of people like you.

          • Leonard Embody September 19th, 2014 at 12:04 am

I am a believer in private property rights. So, private businesses banning guns on their property doesn’t bother me. 🙂 Ban away! Streets and sidewalks in front of schools and courthouses are public property

          • Chromehorn13 September 19th, 2014 at 10:22 am

maybe you won’t end up in jail, I suspect a slab will be your destination. I guess losing your HCP, job and house have not been enough for you.

          • Leonard Embody September 20th, 2014 at 8:47 am

What was taken by the corrupt illegal prosecution has been a lot, but I am determined and nothing will stop me from doing what I think is right.

Gun control is unconstitutional, an unconscionable infringement on a personal fundamental right.

      • searambler September 19th, 2014 at 9:40 am

So then, you agree that convicted felons and the mentally impaired should also have the “personal fundamental right” to carry a fully automatic Uzi or a Glock or a bazooka, correct? Because anything less is “an unconscionable infringement” on their rights. Unless you’re a flaming hypocrite……

        • Leonard Embody September 20th, 2014 at 8:45 am

          Yes

          • searambler September 20th, 2014 at 9:08 pm

            Then you’re a complete idiot.

      • Chromehorn13 September 19th, 2014 at 10:20 am

Lenny you are an idiot. You do nothing to benefit lawful gun owners. In my opinion and the opinion of many other’s you are out fishing for some reason to file a lawsuit against someone for financial gain.

        • Leonard Embody September 20th, 2014 at 8:45 am

You may have an opinion, but it is not correct.

    • Chromehorn13 September 19th, 2014 at 10:27 am

every amendment refers to individuals, militia is basically every male in the population. All of us are in the militia as individuals

      • Leonard Embody September 20th, 2014 at 8:44 am

That is not true, the militia is comprised of certain aged males.

      • searambler September 20th, 2014 at 9:07 pm

        What a crock of shit.

  20. thepuffytaco September 19th, 2014 at 7:11 am

Thankfully Canada doesn’t have nutjobs like this parading around.

  21. searambler September 19th, 2014 at 9:35 am

Wonder why he skipped the first four words of the Second Amendment: “A well regulated militia…..”

    • Chromehorn13 September 19th, 2014 at 10:26 am

well regulated, in the day the amendment was written referred to being practiced and skilled in use of the weapon.

      • Brett Tulloss September 19th, 2014 at 9:01 pm

That’s fine. When do they practice? Most of these OC nuts have no skill with the weapon they are parading with. And these weapons are loaded.

        • Leonard Embody September 20th, 2014 at 8:43 am

How do you know how much skill I have with the firearm I carry?

          • Brett Tulloss September 20th, 2014 at 5:44 pm

I don’t Leonard. But notice I didn’t say ALL, I said MOST. I’d say I can out shoot 60 percent of the Open Carry activist and it’s been 20 years since I’ve fired a gun.

      • searambler September 19th, 2014 at 9:41 pm

        “A well regulated MILITIA…”

Let’s hear your eighteenth century definition of a well regulated militia…

  22. Bloodysot September 19th, 2014 at 1:06 pm

He’s in one of the nicest areas of the city, let’s see you “freedoming” all over Stratford, Maplewood, or HillwoodHe’s in one of the nicest areas of the city, let’s see you “freedoming” all over Stratford, Maplewood, or Hillwood

  23. Paul Dirks September 19th, 2014 at 4:10 pm

Of course we all know what would have happened if he had happened to be black. Freedom isn’t free. You have to be born into it.

  24. PikeRver September 19th, 2014 at 7:21 pm

Why not the whole amendment … the part about a well regulated militia.
