A Florida  man who reportedly thought he heard and saw an intruder Sunday morning at his Sebring, Florida home opened fire and hit the person, who turned out to be his 60-year-old wife.

According to the police, Eusebio Christian, 47, is cooperating with police inquiries into the matter. Christian’s wife, whose name is being withheld as a possible domestic violence victim, received one shot in her face, but it was not life-threatening, Carr said, according to the News-Sun.

[su_center_ad]The authorities still need to speak with her about the incident, Carr said.

Police were called in at about 6:42 a.m. on Sunday.

Police were told by Christian that he heard a noise and got out of bed to investigate. Christian said he thought someone was breaking in, due to previous suspicious incidents he’d reported to police, Carr said.

Christian told police he saw a figure standing in the kitchen and started shooting out of fear. It turned out to be his wife, according to the paper.

“Once he realized it was her, he stopped shooting,” Carr said. “All (shots) missed except one in the face.”

Christian’s wife is expected to recover. [su_csky_ad]

Floridian gun lovers will be soooo conflicted by this: he was “standing his ground”, but he’s got a ferrin’ name!

Didn’t he miss his wife in bed? DOJ really needs to pay Florida a visit. The connection-2 Bushy Brothers were Governor of Texas and Florida. One of the brothers, later, had the nerve to call himself the President.

Yet another case of “shoot first then ask questions later”. What a dunce…

I’m sure he meant to shoot (maybe kill) his wife. Of course he has the great advantage of living in the “stand yer ground” state and can play the Zimmerman card.

Just another good guy with a gun. “Once he realized it was her, he stopped shooting,” That may be the quote of the year.

The time to stop would have been just BEFORE shooting her…

Good excuse as any, considering others have mentioned that same excuse in the news in the last few months.

How about asking “Who’s there?” before opening fire in your house–or am I just old-fashioned…

I would of turned on the lights first, but that’s just me. I like to know what I am shooting at.

well, one question i have is, did he not notice his wife was not in the bed before he decided to grab his gun? and she wasn’t even in the bathroom with the door closed.

          Oscar Pistorius come to mind?

            Exactly what I was thinking.

          • whatthe46 September 24th, 2014 at 5:17 pm

i didn’t know how to spell his last name, so i used the bathroom reference, i thought someone would pick up on that.

Not all married couples sleep together, so that may not even be a relevant question. More info required.

that’s true. and if that’s the case, even more of a reason to be sure it’s not the wife or husband in the damn kitchen. what if it were a son or daughter that was walking around, getting up for water or something.

The “castle doctrine” is turning out to be a more of a chance to legally kill a fellow resident than it is to protect your home from an intruder.

You know, maybe his wife bears more than a passing resemblance to z-man and he was in genuine fear for his life.

Since he did not miss her, no charges will be filed.

7 miles away from me. This area is the Redneckinist, most guntotin’ part of Florida.
