The suspect had recently been fired, say police.

[su_center_ad]

Alton Alexander Nolen, 30, was terminated from his job at Vaughan Foods just before the rampage Thursday afternoon in Moore, Oklahoma, said Sgt. Jeremy Lewis of the Moore Police Department.

Nolen recently had been trying to convert co-workers to Islam, Lewis said, citing investigators’ interviews with witnesses. Moore police have asked the FBI to help investigate the man’s background, Lewis said.

Earlier Friday, U.S. law enforcement officials said there were no indications of a link to terrorism.

The incident happened at the Vaughan Foods processing plant in Moore, about 10 miles south of Oklahoma City.[su_csky_ad]

How sad that religion can drive such behavior.

    • juicyfruityyy September 26th, 2014 at 1:39 pm

More like him being fired; that led to this behavior. A lot of killings occur after a person has been fired from a job. They try to take everyone out with them.

      • tiredoftea September 26th, 2014 at 2:09 pm

True enough, but a being a muslim zealot was the reason for his dismissal. And, beheading are a thing now among those political muslims who claim religious authority for such barbaric acts. Kind of like christian zealots murdering doctors with guns.

        • tracey marie September 26th, 2014 at 3:13 pm

what is the diffrence between a muslim zealot hell bent on conversion and a xtian zealot doing the same thing…besides the xtian never getting fired?

            I know, I know!!
There aren’t tens of thousands of other Christians telling them to behead those that don’t convert on a daily basis…

          • tracey marie September 26th, 2014 at 4:34 pm

they just shoot them in their homes and church or bomb their clinics for not being believers.

          • Spirit of America September 26th, 2014 at 4:44 pm

We should look up how many Christians killed other for not believing and look up same for the Islamic religion, would be an interesting comparison I bet…

          • tracey marie September 26th, 2014 at 4:47 pm

            crusades, shock and awe….

          • Spirit of America September 26th, 2014 at 4:53 pm

Both sides killed in the crusades, not to mention it was a series of wars based on who owns the ‘holy land’, not so much as about religion.

And shock and awe wasn’t about religion on either side.

          • tracey marie September 26th, 2014 at 4:58 pm

who owns the M.E. hmmm let’s see the people who have always lived there or some white europeans????

          • Spirit of America September 26th, 2014 at 5:01 pm

That has nothing to do w/topic not to mention now it sounds like what I said, a land issue, not religion. When we kicked saddam out of kuwait, how was that a religious issue?

          • Larry Schmitt September 26th, 2014 at 5:12 pm

But the Muslims were already there. It was the christians that marched to the “holy land” to kill them. And if that wasn’t about religion, what the hell was it about? The pope was pissed because the unbelievers had taken possession of it. If they hadn’t been a different religion, no crusades, no wars.

          • Spirit of America September 26th, 2014 at 7:18 pm

You just said it in your own words:

” The pope was pissed because the unbelievers had taken possession of it.”
It was about land, specifically the holy land, that the pope/europeans wanted. Wouldn’t of mattered if the hindus took it over, buddists or a ufo cult.

          • Larry Schmitt September 26th, 2014 at 7:22 pm

But they were a different religion. That makes it about religion.

          • Spirit of America September 26th, 2014 at 7:37 pm

Using that logic, then it could also have been about clothing since they dressed different, or language since they spoke different languages, or diet since they ate different foods…
No, it was about control of the holy land, pure and simple. The Europeans wanted it, someone else had it.

How many catholics and protestants killed each other for believing in the wrong god

          • Spirit of America September 27th, 2014 at 9:04 am

If you’re referring to the irish probs during the 60’s on up, that wasn’t about ‘the wrong God’, that was about succession from UK and having a unified Ireland or not.

          • rg9rts September 27th, 2014 at 9:13 am

Hundreds of years of blood letting …I strongly suggest you study up on your Irish history…you are sorely lacking in any knowledge of that and catholic protestant warfare in the Isles dating back centuries

          • Spirit of America September 27th, 2014 at 9:25 am

“If you’re referring to the irish probs during the 60’s”, thought I was clear on wondering what you were referring to, I suggest you read before reply.

          • Dwendt44 September 27th, 2014 at 4:59 pm

The bible christians claim to follow or obey says you can kill those that disagree with you.

          • Spirit of America September 27th, 2014 at 10:13 pm

LOL LOL, what??!! Show me the Bible let alone the passage.
But to a larger question sort of speaking… why are you defending beheading by islam even IF some other religion allows it to?

In other words, w/out equivocation, is what he did in the name of and because of following islam wrong, yes or no, no qualifiers.

          • Dwendt44 September 27th, 2014 at 10:48 pm

You won’t find it in those ‘suggested reading’ tracts the preacher hands out. You won’t hear about it in Sunday school either. Try reading the WHOLE bible, not just the ‘good’ parts.
Read the 20th chapter of Leviticus for example.
God sets an example by killing millions of people in one fell swoop by supposedly flooding the entire world.(the greatest abortionist ever)
            Exodus 22:18,
You may recall that Hebrew soldiers wiped out entire villages, even the horses, cows, and goats, except for young girls of breading age.
II Kings 2:23-24, that’s where god has two bears attact a group of children. Not all of them died, but the scares and broken bones harmed them immensely.
. And of course, Jesus himself said, in parable, “bring those that will not follow me and slay them before me”
I’m just scratching the surface here. But even you should be able to get the idea.

          • tiredoftea September 26th, 2014 at 5:51 pm

            The getting fired part!

Some religions. I’m not too worried about Quakers and Buddhists.

Good point. Although Buddhists have had their moments.

I wonder why Alan left out the part about Mark Vaughan, (Good Guy With a Gun and Vaughan Foods COO) stopping the attack by shooting the attacker? Probably not enough room on the page

    • fancypants September 27th, 2014 at 12:35 pm

Alan left it up to fox news to praise the rent-a-cop who got to wear his bullet proof vest and play army for 10 minutes.

  3. BillTheCat45 September 26th, 2014 at 2:03 pm

OOPS! Guess there was a link to Islamic extremism. So much it being a random/coincidental incident.

  4. NoInfo ToShare September 26th, 2014 at 2:18 pm

I firmly believe this type of bizarre behavior has nothing to do with religion, as so much as being an indicator of severe mental illness.

Then again, religion as a whole IS mental illness.

    • Spirit of America September 26th, 2014 at 4:27 pm

or a combination of both… the sickness leading to an extreme fixation and perversion of the religion.

      • rg9rts September 27th, 2014 at 7:26 am

All of them if you want to be technical

        • Spirit of America September 27th, 2014 at 8:50 am

Exactly, or, maybe ‘religion’ really isn’t a mental illness(which maybe was my point)

“Vaughn Foods chief operating officer Mark Vaughn shot Nolen and ended his rampage.”

    2nd Amendment ftw.

    • OldLefty September 26th, 2014 at 3:02 pm

What does the 2nd amendment have to do with anything?

      • Tom Ward September 26th, 2014 at 3:43 pm

It allowed the civilian to carry a gun to shoot the crazy guy with a knife

        • OldLefty September 26th, 2014 at 4:12 pm

          So what?

He was a reserve deputy with the Oklahoma County sheriffโ€™s department.

(Who knows what a civilian would have done, with all the gun blunders we see every day?)

In countries where people do not have guns, the guy would likely have been subdued. Are you saying that we can no longer overcome one guy with a knife?

          • Spirit of America September 26th, 2014 at 4:26 pm

Would likely? Besides that being pure supposition, both the blunder part and subdued part, tell that to Lee Rigby when not a single of dozens of civilians had to watch his murder…

          • Wayout September 26th, 2014 at 5:44 pm

Good point. Not one UNARMED British subject bystander tried to stop that attack. Those two were stopped by gunfire, nothing else.

          • edmeyer_able September 26th, 2014 at 5:45 pm

Actually once they killed the soldier they didn’t try killing anyone else, maybe you should go back and read the story.

          • Spirit of America September 26th, 2014 at 7:53 pm

But no one said they went on a spree, the point is that there were many people around, just that they couldn’t/didn’t stop it.

          • edmeyer_able September 26th, 2014 at 8:02 pm

Just think how many more they could have killed had they used gunz.

          • Spirit of America September 26th, 2014 at 8:16 pm

No doubt. But one also, if fair, has to think Rigby may still be alive if someone in the crowd had a gun.

          • edmeyer_able September 26th, 2014 at 8:19 pm

And if the queen had balls she’d be the king, gee we can play this game all night.

          • Spirit of America September 26th, 2014 at 8:21 pm

Exactly… so let us stick w/the facts of the 2 cases… no one had a gun, Rigby died while many watched. A guy had a gun, went to the screaming, and the killer died and couldn’t kill any more.

          • edmeyer_able September 26th, 2014 at 8:30 pm

He wasn’t “JUST A GUY” he was a reserve deputy sheriff the perp used a knife and was a convicted felon, if either of the perps were armed w/anything but knives in your 2A world more victims would have been the result.. The 2A needs amending.

          • Spirit of America September 26th, 2014 at 8:37 pm

LOL LOL, so it matters that he was a reserve deputy, eh? ok, I guess. So only companies that have employees that are also deputies are allowed to defend their employees, all other workers at other places be dam*ed?
“if either of the perps were armed…” … And if the queen had balls she’d be the king…
            ๐Ÿ™‚
            Let me ask you this:
Aren’t you glad the killer was stopped?

          • edmeyer_able September 26th, 2014 at 8:38 pm

            Of course.

          • Spirit of America September 26th, 2014 at 8:44 pm

Then, for me, we agree on the really important part.

          • Tom Ward September 26th, 2014 at 5:03 pm

I’m saying that, at a time when some twisted individuals are trying to terrorize the world by beheading people with knives, the 2nd amendment is freaking awesome.

Not that it wasn’t awesome beforehand, though.

          • edmeyer_able September 26th, 2014 at 6:10 pm

Will you think it’s so AWESOME when these jihadists start buying AR16 and glocks w/o a background check and use them to commit mayhem in a shopping mall on black friday?

          • Wayout September 26th, 2014 at 5:41 pm

Sure, and how many get killed or cut before the knife wielding piece of garbage is stopped? Check out the stories of this stuff happening in China. No, a gun will stop the attacker in a instant.

          • edmeyer_able September 26th, 2014 at 6:30 pm

Yes the 2 crazies from the bundy ranch sure stopped the 2 cops in cici’s pizza parlor fairly quickly didn’t it.

        • edmeyer_able September 26th, 2014 at 5:35 pm

So who said anything about repealing the 2A?

        • edmeyer_able September 26th, 2014 at 6:20 pm

It also allowed jared loughner, james holmes along with adam lanza to kill almost 100 people unopposed.

  6. mea_mark September 26th, 2014 at 3:37 pm

Nothing to do with terrorism, except he is copying their behavior.

    • Spirit of America September 26th, 2014 at 4:21 pm

Which is what is now the threat.

    • Wayout September 26th, 2014 at 5:39 pm

    • Bob Cronos September 26th, 2014 at 6:01 pm

  7. whatthe46 September 26th, 2014 at 4:21 pm

  8. Wayout September 26th, 2014 at 5:38 pm

Beheading, beheading, ummmmm……, now who usually beheads people? Catholics? No. Jews? No. Presbyterians? No. Christian Fundamentalists? No. That’s right, I remember it’s practitioners of “the religion of peace”, the Muslims.
It’s time for every law abiding citizen to get their concealed carry permits and be prepared for this sort of thing to happen at any time and any place. A bullet beats a knife any day of the week.
