A former agent for the Secret Service penned an op-ed for The Washington Post in which he touts Allen West as one who “possesses the leadership skills” to head the Secret Service. Yes, the very same Allen West who previously called President Obama an “Islamist” with unclear “loyalties,” and recently called on the military to ignore orders from its commander-in-chief. That one.

[su_center_ad]After security breaches, the Secret Service is now under the microscope so Dan Emmett weighed in saying that the agency’s failure to keep a man from jumping over the White House fence and entering the building was particularly concerning “because the United States is at war.”

Talking Points Memo reports:

“This message undoubtedly will embolden our enemies, and that’s a serious problem at a time when terrorist groups are planning major attacks on Western soil and coming alarmingly close to carrying them out,” Emmett wrote.

He argued that the U.S. has brought in the military to protect the White House before — during World War II.

“While Congress has not declared war on ISIS and al-Qaeda, U.S. airstrikes in Syria and Iraq – as well as the threats of radical Islamist groups against Americans and our country – make it clear we are indeed at war,” he wrote. “Had combat troops been in place during last week’s White House breach, the threat would have been easily countered by fixed posts and roving patrols of soldiers or Marines, who are trained to respond immediately to such intrusions with whatever force is deemed necessary.”

Then, he suggested that Allen West replace Julia Pierson as the director of the Secret Service.

“In this role, a true leader, not a bureaucrat, is needed,” Emmett wrote. “West has successfully demonstrated that he possesses the leadership skills of a combat officer as well as managerial and diplomatic skills of a congressman, exactly the traits needed in the next director.”

Emmett is writing about very same Allen West whose commanding general ordered administrative action against Lt. Col. Allen West, who was accused of using improper methods to force information out of an Iraqi detainee.

West was fined $5,000 over two months following the hearing. West could have faced 11 years in prison. In testimony, West said the suspect was not cooperating with interrogators, so he watched four of his soldiers beat the detainee on the head and body.

According to West, he took the suspect outside, put him on the ground near a weapons clearing barrel and fired his 9 mm pistol into the barrel. And Emmett wants that guy in charge of protecting the President of the United States. [su_csky_ad]

If I were the President, I wouldn’t let this man within 200 yards my family or myself.

    Allen West either.

  3. mea_mark September 30th, 2014 at 9:05 pm

Maybe? If the far right takes over and imposes dictatorial law under an insane theocracy. I think he would fit right in as head of the secret service.

  4. Foundryman September 30th, 2014 at 9:09 pm

West, the head of the SS….Now THAT sounds like a communist/colonialist/kenyan/nazi/ muslim conspiracy.

  6. StoneyCurtisll September 30th, 2014 at 9:32 pm

    Allen West??
He would make a better head of another SS..
Not the Secret Service that protects the President..
    The other SS..(Schutzstaffel)

I was surprised to learn that a female was the top-in control/command of the Secret Service…
Not that I think a female is not capable of handling the job..
But the current one in charge seems to be lacking in skills.

OR the agents in the field are ignoring and/or resisting her leadership.

Was she an affirmative action hire?

      • jasperjava October 1st, 2014 at 9:10 am

        Sexist bigot.

      • raincheck October 1st, 2014 at 9:33 am

Why do you say such ‘stupid shi’…… Never mind, I just figured it out

        • Skydog2 October 1st, 2014 at 9:38 am

Just trying to figure out how an incompetent person got placed in such an important / sensitive position.

          • raincheck October 1st, 2014 at 10:38 am

She has only been on the job for a little over a year… she made a request to Congress to give her more authority to hire and fire months ago, which went ignored. Do you think it’s easy to change a culture like the Secret Service in such a short time?

Edited: I think you just looked for an opportunity to throw “Affirmative Action” out there in a derogatory manner..

          • Skydog2 October 1st, 2014 at 1:29 pm

Salon: Joe Scarborough and regular contributor Donny Deutsch corroborated Laura Ingraham’s take suggesting that the Secret Service hired director Julia Pierson not for her qualifications but out of a need to “rebrand.”

          • arc99 October 1st, 2014 at 1:40 pm

so Scarborough, Deutsch and Ingraham have an opinion. that is proof of what, other than the fact that just like every other soul on this planet, they have an opinion.

caucasian, Christian property owning males enjoyed affirmative action in this country for nearly 200 years. anyone who lacked those demographic traits was not even eligible to be considered for leadership positions in our society.

but funny how incompetent white males were never taken to task for achieving their position through unfair preferences.

          • arc99 October 1st, 2014 at 1:46 pm

Here is Ms. Pierson’s resume according to Wikipedia. Now please explain to me how a 30 year veteran of the Secret Service who has served on protection details for Presidents of both parties is lacking in qualifications.

Is it not possible that just like so many white males over the past 200 years, a person’s resume qualified them for a job that it turns out, they were not up to performing?

Has nothing to do with affirmative action and everything to do with everyone being held to a single standard.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but I doubt you would be questioning the qualifications of a man who had this resume.

            —————————————–

Pierson served three years in the Orlando Police Department (OPD), patrolling the northeastern section of Orlando. She was one of the first female OPD officers assigned to a beat.[9] She joined the United States Secret Service in 1984 as a special agent. She served in the Miami Field Office from 1984 to 1985, and the Orlando Field Office from 1985 to 1988. Pierson served as deputy assistant director of the Office of Protective Operations from 2005 to 2006, deputy assistant director of the Office of Administration from 2001 to 2005, and special agent in charge of the Office of Protective Operations 2000 to 2001). She served on the presidential protective details (PPDs) of Presidents George H. W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush. From 2008 to her appointment as director, Pierson served as the chief of staff and the assistant director of the Office of Human Resources and Training for the Secret Service.[3][6]

            You’re confusing experience with competence.

          • arc99 October 1st, 2014 at 1:54 pm

I am not confusing anything. You are the one posting messages implying that Ms. Pierson was not qualified. What in her resume indicates that she was not qualified?

          • Skydog2 October 1st, 2014 at 2:01 pm

I never said she lacked experience and/or was not qualified.

            I said she was incompetent.

          • arc99 October 1st, 2014 at 2:06 pm

you also said “Was she an affirmative action hire?”

perhaps she is incompetent. as I mentioned before, there are likely countless instances of someone being qualified for a job but unable to perform it.

you are the one who mentioned affirmative action. the fact is that a white male with her resume would not be accused of being an affirmative action hire, no matter how incompetent he might be. that is my point. a single standard for everyone.

          • Skydog2 October 1st, 2014 at 2:30 pm

            ok

          • raincheck October 2nd, 2014 at 7:03 am

OMG are you kidding me??…. WHO gives a SH*T what Joe Scarborough, Laura Ingraham’s “take” is ?
” Laura Ingraham’s “take”, “suggesting” Becomes facts in the wrong minds

          • arc99 October 1st, 2014 at 1:51 pm

reminds me of a post I saw awhile back in another forum, referring to LBJ’s appointment of Thurgood Marshall to the Supreme Court as an “affirmative action hire”

really pi$$es me off how these people ignore the decades of affirmative action extended to white males.

also pi$$ed me off that anyone would say that about Justice Marshall. He was the lead litigator in Brown v Board of Education which not only reversed an earlier court decision from 1898 (Plessy v Ferguson) but also changed the way that American case law interpreted the 14th amendment.

Not one of his peers could claim any experience which had such a fundamental impact on American law. But yet Marshall was an “affirmative action” hire.

god, these ignorant people are annoying.. better take my blood pressure medicine.

It’s great this ex-secret service RWNJ is no longer on the job! He’s trying to sell his ignored summer book by claiming everyone but him is “inept”: “Secret Service agents had to get into running shape and don workout clothes to join Clinton when he jogged!”-Add another count to the Boehner suit. http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/book-president-clinton-admin-article-1.1833539 WTF is the Secret Service budget cut?
