Republicans want you to know that they are people, too, so an ad was created as well as the #IAmARepublican hashtag campaign. To hear their take on it, Republicans are all tatted up like some of us (I totally am), have beards (see: Duck Dynasty) and some of them are black. It’s not that we don’t believe them (We do not believe them) but their proof which is offered in form of a picture of an African American Republican woman is actually a stock photo.

Tommy Christopher of The Daily Banter noticed something odd about this outreach attempt. Ads use stock photos but, Republicans are trying desperately to reach out to minorities since their old white party is dying off so you’d think they’d search the world, if necessary (It’s totally necessary), for actual Republicans to be featured in this ad.

[su_center_ad]In the photo titled, “Republicans are black,” the woman featured has also been seen as a model offering discount glasses, touting payday loans, Biblical counseling, drug and alcohol rehab services, and a few other endeavors. This is a really busy lady. I admire that. Of course, it’s possible that she’s a busy Republican model, but that is not confirmed. I’m not saying models are liars (I used to be a model and we were all big fat liars).

Talking Points Memo found that the “Republican” man reading the New York Times, as well as the one driving a Prius, and the other donning a beard, are also stock photos.

What we’re saying is, they aren’t actual “Republican” people.

Under the ad it reads, “It seems like it’s okay to say mean things about someone just because they’re Republican. That isn’t right. Before you write another mean post about Republicans, remember Republicans are people, too.”

If today’s 89% white GOP were honest they’d picture their token Allen West / Ben Carson in 2016~

He is endorsing his party – calling Natural Gas Green energy is exactly GOPSpeak…He also came out last Spring saying he “no longer supports a Colorado personhood amendment”…neglecting to say it’s because he wants a national personhood amendment, banning abortion entirely and most birth control pills (he promotes the latter as “wants birth control sold over the counter”…duh)

Republicans aren’t people, the’re stock photos. No wonder they seem 2 dimensional so much.

  6. tiredoftea October 1st, 2014 at 7:39 pm

Gee, there are lots of human looking Republicans. You’d think that would be proud of Ann Coulter, Allen West, Alan Keyes, Bay Buchanan, Bobby Jindal, uhhh, OK, I got nothin’.

    • Larry Schmitt October 2nd, 2014 at 8:37 am

Armstrong Williams, Herman Cain…you see the problem they have? When you have to think that hard to come up with “diversity” in the party, that’s a problem.

        That’s why the stock photos!

For me, the larger message here is not whether there are actual Republicans who drive a Prius, have tattoos etc. There probably are.

The message here is that Republicans are saying they cannot be bothered to back up what they say, so instead, all we get is smoke and mirrors symbolism.

It is a perfect metaphor for BENGHAZI!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. Cosmic_Surfer October 1st, 2014 at 9:20 pm

Cory Gardner says Republicans care about women and the environment (that’s why he is trying to outlaw abortion even in cases of incest and rape, outlaw most birth control pills and the “morning after” pill and then there’s that green energy thing of his based on fossil fuel expansion)

They’re still dying out (insert a great bit smile here).

Me, I don’t attack republicans, per se, but send my regards to the party itself. It’s not any more fair to attack uninformed supporters of a plutocratic party than it is to slight those that are mentally challenged.

Do the people in the stock photos get paid each time their picture is used? Then this campaign will bring them a lot of money. That must feel good!

    • Larry Schmitt October 2nd, 2014 at 7:27 am

No, the photos are public domain. No residuals.

If you’re ever wondering where a photo is from, you can search for it on TinEye. There’s an extension for it in Google Chrome.
These are the results for the black woman in the ‘Republicans Are People Too’ campaign”

“… touting payday loans, Biblical counseling …”

She may not be a Republican, but it seems like her stock photo is.
