A British transgender woman says she wants to go back to being a man, six years after her gender switch.

[su_center_ad]

Back in 2007, Chelsea Attonley, then living as Matthew, met glamor model Katie Price and expressed a desire to be a woman and look like her. Price encouraged Matthew to do it, so not long after, she underwent gender reassignment surgery. That operation cost the NHS the equivalent of over $16,000 U.S. dollars.

Now, Attonley has decided that she no longer wants to be a woman and is asking the NHS for the nearly $23,000 to reverse her reassignment surgery.

β€œI have always longed to be a woman, but no amount of surgery can give me an actual female body and I feel like I am living a lie,” said Attonley. β€œIt is exhausting putting on make-up and wearing heels all the time. Even then I don’t feel I look like a proper woman. I suffered from depression and anxiety as a result of the hormones too. I have realized it would be easier to stop fighting the way I look naturally and accept that I was born a man physically.”[su_csky_ad]

    Now even I am confused…
make up your mind and go with it…
    No redoes..
Or just be one or the other during the week, and on weekends do what ever makes ya feel good.

Although I’m certain this somehow inappropriate – that’s funny. NIce wordplay.

She said, she is depressed, she needs therapy not surgery.

every woman has a right to change her mind. too bad h/she didn’t figure that out before h/she went this far.

Good for him. That’s his business. This sensationalism is unnecessary.

And it’s depressing how many people right here apparently thinks this makes him an “acceptable target” for transphobic jokes and rhetoric. Seriously, it is nigh-impossible to distinguish the comments you’re making here from transphobic rhetoric that was likely directed at him BEFORE transitioning.

    • edmeyer_able October 1st, 2014 at 7:23 pm

I think most sympathize with the choice this person made The issue I have is his apparent lack of consideration he made in choosing to make the initial transformation and using public funds, which btw maybe could have been put to better use else where.
As Tracey pointed out perhaps therapy would have been a better option than surgery J/S

      • Rusty Shackleford October 1st, 2014 at 7:54 pm

That’s not your call to make. Appropriate treatment is a matter for discussion between patient and doctor. Sometimes treatments don’t work, and it’s no one’s fault. You don’t blame the patient or insist that they should have known better or stop providing them with treatment.

        • edmeyer_able October 1st, 2014 at 8:02 pm

We each in our own life face obstacles, I might not be happy with some physical feature that I was born with but learning to live with what I was given is a part of life. This person seems to have made a choice with which they are not happy with and perhaps if they understood what they were doing would not have chosen to proceed. This is the therapy or perhaps counciling is a better word to use, that I was speaking to. I’m not trying to assign blame to them but sex change is a pretty serious matter and should not be taken on a whim because somebody talked you into it.

          • Rusty Shackleford October 1st, 2014 at 8:07 pm

Newsflash: fucking NO ONE EVER does it on a whim. You do not know his life or his feelings, your body image issues are not even REMOTELY comparable to gender dysphoria, and I GUARANTEE you this decision was not made lightly or without thorough consideration (and a metric crapload of bureaucratic hoops to leap through).

          • edmeyer_able October 1st, 2014 at 8:14 pm

Read the last paragraph of the article once more and tell me you really think they rec’d the necessary council before making the initial decision.
Also read your reply to be and tell me again who is being condescending when discussing body issues.

          • Rusty Shackleford October 1st, 2014 at 8:16 pm

            Not.
            Your.
            Call.
            To.
            Make.

Unless you are his doctor, or the patient himself, you do not know the details, and your armchair diagnosis and treatment plan is less than worthless.

          • donna tee October 2nd, 2014 at 12:37 am

I ‘ll tell you what’s worthless- the self-centered nut case who is the subject of this article. Oh, he can’t be bothered with working poor , poor dear.

          • Rusty Shackleford October 2nd, 2014 at 12:45 am

He lives in a country that actually provides its citizens with medical treatment. He is entitled to his god damn medical treatment, and you are entitled to shove it.

        • Carla Akins October 1st, 2014 at 8:04 pm

I know here in the US, counseling is fairly extensive before a doctor will agree to the surgery along with living as your chosen gender for a year? I believe as well. Don’t beat up over terminology, I’m still learning the ins and outs of the lingo –

          • Rusty Shackleford October 1st, 2014 at 8:09 pm

Yeah, you have NO IDEA the amount of hoops you have to jump through, and I can’t imagine it’s all that different in the UK.

And they don’t magically end after surgery, either. The bureaucracy and legalities of it will come back to haunt you for years to come.

This is not a decision ANYONE EVER makes lightly or easily, even if you remove all the legal and bureaucratic barriers and gatekeeping.

    • M D Reese October 1st, 2014 at 7:24 pm

I think she/he should save up and pay for this one her/him self. Chalk it up to experience–and get some counseling!

      • Rusty Shackleford October 1st, 2014 at 7:52 pm

Thank you for expertly illustrating my point.

“I refuse to acknowledge your preferred pronouns, and will instead refer to you as she/he!”

“Pay for your medically necessary treatment yourself, even though you live in a country that covers it!”

        “You just need therapy!”

Seriously, how is any of this distinguishable from the transphobia that was directed at him when he first transitioned?

        • M D Reese October 1st, 2014 at 8:19 pm

It looks to me that the confusion is with the individual. I have no problem using their preferred pronoun–if they had a clue what the hell that might be.

          • Rusty Shackleford October 1st, 2014 at 8:21 pm

He said quite clearly that he wants to transition back to male. It’s kind of the whole premise of the entire article. You know, easy thing to miss.

          • M D Reese October 1st, 2014 at 8:23 pm

And prior to that it was the opposite. I’ll wait till the dust settles–if it does.

          • Rusty Shackleford October 1st, 2014 at 8:25 pm

Why? Is it a great effort for you to use what he is currently asking you to use?

          • M D Reese October 1st, 2014 at 8:26 pm

I’ve said all that I need to say about it.

          • donna tee October 3rd, 2014 at 12:42 am

Who is “he” Rusty? Why are you referring to “Chelsea ” as a “he”?

          • Rusty Shackleford October 3rd, 2014 at 1:14 am

Why are you abusing scare quotes in every single post? What did the quotation mark ever do to you? Were you beaten as a child by a quote?

        • donna tee October 3rd, 2014 at 12:38 am

I don’t give 2 cents about his “pronouns”. Last year he wanted to be called “she”, next year she wants to be called “he”. Gays and Lesbians should have dropped you all by the wayside years ago.

          • Rusty Shackleford October 3rd, 2014 at 1:13 am

Gays and lesbians would be nowhere near where they are now without the contributions of trans activists, despite continuously tossing them under the bus. Never forget that the Stonewall Riots, the biggest event in “gay rights” history, were started by trans women of color.

    • donna tee October 3rd, 2014 at 12:36 am

Well, if it’s so “good for him”, let “him” pay for it. People are struggling to get cancer treatments and make payments on medical bills for life-saving medical procedures. They just want to remain living. This guy for me is a waste of human space.

      • Rusty Shackleford October 3rd, 2014 at 1:11 am

NHS covers this AND cancer treatments. You can take your personal vendetta and shove it, because you don’t get to decide who deserves medical treatment and who doesn’t.

        • donna tee October 3rd, 2014 at 1:38 am

Yes, because in your world people attempting to survive cancer and AIDS are the same as some looney who can’t decide if it is male or female . You are everything that is wrong with the world and the reason humanity now has to deal with Ebola.

  9. Wayout October 1st, 2014 at 7:22 pm

And what happens if after “she” becomes a “he” again and then decides that “he” really was happier to be a “she”, will the state have to pay for that too? This my friends is the insanity of liberalism on full display.

    • edmeyer_able October 1st, 2014 at 7:24 pm

Actually the article doesn’t say that a second surgery will be performed.

    • Rusty Shackleford October 1st, 2014 at 8:01 pm

What happens if he ends up on the moon? What happens if dinosaurs eat your car? What happens if we actually talk about the reality of the world we live in rather than try to discredit our opposition by posing hypothetical scenarios that don’t actually exist?

      • tracey marie October 1st, 2014 at 8:50 pm

        I like that response

      • R.J. Carter October 2nd, 2014 at 7:30 am

The state would have to pay for all of those things too. Hypothetically.

    • Carla Akins October 1st, 2014 at 8:09 pm

Gender assignment/acceptance has absolutely nothing to do with liberalism. By definition, liberalism is a political outlook. I will grant you that those individuals practicing liberalism are more tolerant, accepting and supportive of equality.

      • fahvel October 2nd, 2014 at 3:18 am

I think that anyone who responds to wahoo is actually committing a crime against nature by using any kind of energy for the purpose. W is one of the few on this site that is constantly stupid and evil and, damn it, religious to boot!

    • tiredoftea October 1st, 2014 at 8:13 pm

      I’m sorry, what?

    • arc99 October 1st, 2014 at 8:15 pm

On the insanity scale, if Britain’s National Health Service rates a 5, then the American right wing’s approach of no health insurance for anyone comes in just shy of the infinity mark.

    • tracey marie October 1st, 2014 at 8:48 pm

    • granpa.usthai October 1st, 2014 at 8:56 pm

My goodness, she certainly looks much more attractive than some drunken Alaskan dingbat. Poor little feller has to go through all those painful surgeries for gender reassignment and all you can think about is the cost? –

This has to be the biggest oopsie since…ever.

oopsie? LOL that’s an understatement… poor dummy.

    • whatthe46 October 1st, 2014 at 8:48 pm

question? did he go “all the way”?

      • tracey marie October 1st, 2014 at 8:49 pm

yes, she is a full women. Now the penis that was made into a vagina and lips will have to be reconstructed into a penis again

        • whatthe46 October 1st, 2014 at 9:21 pm

i hope all goes well. but, it will NEVER be the same.

  11. donna tee October 2nd, 2014 at 12:35 am

I seriously hate this person. Seriously. You become a “woman” and decide it’s too much work to wear make up and wear hills and that’s all it took to to change your mind about being a woman? This is why trans-gendered people receive such mockery. He is literally the worst thing that ever happened to that community. He’s an idiot.

    • whatthe46 October 2nd, 2014 at 2:16 am

don’t hate him. and i’m not one to call out someone’s spelling, but it’s “heels.” and i think it’s a lot more than the make-up and type of shoes that has him confused.

  13. veggiedude October 2nd, 2014 at 11:42 am

Well you know what they say… it’s a woman’s prerogative to change her mind.

  14. donna tee October 4th, 2014 at 7:57 pm

No. You are clearly the worst kind of person. Yes I absolutely have a personal vendetta against this sick individual who takes such action of going back and forth between man and woman just because he can make the taxpayer pay for it. I would be willing to pay for his mental health care but nothing more at this point. That aside, your moma’s an asshole. Pity she wasn’t a tranny herself then the world would not have to put up with the likes of you. And if it means I despise you, then I will proudly wear my badge as a transphobic. I got 99 problems but a bitch named Rusty Shackleford ain’t one.

  15. SenorErik March 25th, 2015 at 5:37 am

Do you even realize that transgender people have much higher suicide rates than non? Or do you care?
