100-Year-Old Kansas Woman Raped In Her Home
A 100-year-old Kansas woman was raped in her home early this week, Wichita police confirmed on Friday.
The woman walked to a neighbor’s house at about 7:15 a.m. on Tuesday saying there were two people inside her house, Capt. Troy Livingston said.
[su_center_ad]“Officers arrived and determined that her house had been broken into,” Livingston said.
According to Kansas.com, the woman, who lives alone, said she was awakened in the middle of the night by the intruders who were inside her house.
“There’s some confusion” on the part of the victim, likely because of her age, “but we’ve worked through that,” Livingston said.
Medical testing confirmed that the woman was sexually assaulted, he said.
Authorities determined that one or more burglars forced their way inside through a back door.
“The place is very neat and tidy,” Livingston said.
“We believe this was a burglary and the sexual assault was kind of a crime of opportunity,” he said.
“All rapes are a deplorable crime but when you look at the age of the victim, it becomes a little bit more concerning, a little bit more disturbing,” Livingston. said “It’s a vile crime, and the fact that somebody victimized a 100-year-old female is a little bit harder for the detectives to really grasp.”
