Indiana Police Smash Car Window, Taze Black Man Because Profiling Didn’t Work Out
[su_right_ad]The recent rash of stories about excessive force by police, against black people, came to roost in Hammond, Indiana when a black man refused to get out of a car because he feared for his safety. As this amazing video shows, passenger Jamal Jones presented no threat to police when they smashed through the car window, pulled him out, and tased him.
According to Lisa Mahone, she was on her way to visit her dying mother when she was pulled over for a seatbelt violation, and when cops asked her passenger, Jones, to show ID, he explained that he didn’t have it, but reached into a backpack to show them a ticket he’d recently gotten. That’s when the cops pulled their guns, Mahone called the police station, and her son started taping. The police account, at least the part that’s shown on the video, does not match the plainly obvious facts. For example, they say they smashed the window because Jones kept reaching “towards the rear seats of the vehicle,” but his hands are visible throughout the tape.

The police can and do write tickets all the time without anyone having to show an ID..
Parking Tickets..
Red light camera tickets..
Speed camera tickets..
This over the top breaking of the window and Tasing is just off the hook abuse of authority..(IMO)

no–it was the driver who was not wearing a seatbelt, that was reportedly the cause for the stop…the adult male in the front passenger seat was wearing his
asking for the passenger’s i.d. was a “profiling” move–the cop wanted to run his name, see if he had a warrant–so, he could make an arrest at the stop…plain and simple
the cop figured he had a warrant, ’cause he was black–and when i.d. wasn’t immediately produced…well, then–that’s “proof” he’s hiding something! now, he’s moving! oh, hell no!
this man just might be lucky as hell, that he’s still alive…
that’s just how cops think–at least, the ones that are on the job for awhile–at least a good number of them…they seem to lose objectivity, approach everyone as a stereotype, and assume immediate guilt…
we are slowly building ourselves a fascist force of armed, scared, uniformed fat guys…what the hell?

it’s been proven, time and again, that these small towns get tons of revenue from traffic stops, and fines, and court costs–it’s a pyramid scheme…the only purpose these guys have is to write enough tickets to pay the light bill at the courthouse…and, the beginning of the farce is the traffic stop…and, maybe somebody’s got a warrant–jackpot!

We are also told that if we are in fear, or doubt the veracity of the command to immediate call 911 – which she did. The passenger had been reasonable and respectful they never offer any reasonable to cause to ask him to get out of the vehicle – and if I were a black man today in Indiana I would be afraid as well. Police are shooting a black man every 28 hours – that you give you pause.

From the video it appears to be just as the OP states in the title, “…until it became clear profiling didn’t work.” When these cops encountered non-violent resistance is when the situation escalated.

For the sake of the kids in the back seat, I would have shown no resistance and the situation would have never escalated.
And let’s not pretend the second he resisted they smashed his window, the conversation went on for a couple of minutes, he had every opportunity to comply and de-escalate the situation but choose not to do so.

So explain how an open carry white dude can threaten to shoot police, and the police don’t so much as flinch and actually TALK to the suspect, whereas a black person in a vehicle doesn’t do a thing wrong, gets his window smashed, and then gets tazed. Profiling is not a motivation, it’s a tactic, motivated by rewards for things like how many arrests, drugs, houses and cars you can squeeze out of a seatbelt violation.

The police escalated the situation by needlessly demanding identification of a passenger…
Two of the police officers in the lawsuit have had prior complaints of civil rights violations, and abuse of power complaints.

Except he was not driving, was not given the instruction to keep his hands on the wheel (he wasn’t driving) nor was he told to even keep his hands in view – he was told to get his ID. He was calm, reasonable and requested to speak with a Lt after they pulled their guns on him after he reached for the ID they asked for. Did you bother to watch the video?

Watch the video, he not move his hands anywhere except towards the driver when she handed him the ticket. If the officer asks for something – you move your hands to get the damn thing. What do they expect? After they pulled their guns on him he did not move his hands outside of their view.

American citizens are not required to identify or show ID to Police
unless there is a reasonable suspicion that a crime is or has occured.
That is the law. These police are abusing their authority. They will
be found guilty in court and a large sum of money will be paid and some
of these officers will lose their jobs. Our police have become fascist
military nut jobs. There will come a day when we stand up and fight
back, you can count on that. We are watching, and we don’t forget. We outnumber the police 1000’s to one. They know it and we know it.

Again I call BULL!!! Most of us have friends, family, spouse or children who
are/were cops. We read autobiography’s and see true experience movies. Article
after article of whistle blowers have been published. It’s NOT rocket science…its
service with a gun…well…it used to be.
Cops KNOW who’s a bad cop. They all know. And by that fact alone
they all look the other way when the bad cops commit crimes…or…they actively
defend them either because of the “Blue Shield” crap or out of plain fear.
Either way, they indifference or inability to act MAKES them bad cops as well. They
are accessories…and they know it.
In today’s world, you have better be afraid of cops. And if you’re
a minority, or poor, your life depends upon that fear.

The threat to their lives is minimal. That the advisories they are fighting in this war are (for the most part) unarmed, unprepared for the fight, not allowed to even fight back or even ask questions. It’s like a video game war. They know at the end of the day they will be going home but some poor sap who “reached into his backpack” after being told to get his ID may not.

A camera may be the only thing that saves your life.
